This place is a ZOO with no keeper. It's an absolute mess. I have never felt so disgusted in my entire life with a health facility of any kind. Been here with my daughter since a little after 4pm. It's now 10:05 pm. 6 hours and no idea when she'll be seen. I understand that test results take time. I understand how busy and short staffed most places are. I get it and I'm the most agreeable and patient person when it comes to treating staff well anywhere I go. Which is why Im typing a review instead of blowing up. This place would push anyone over the edge. The staff are obviously overwhelmed and aggravated...they need help. The nurse who took my daughters blood stuck her 3 times. I watched her do the worst, most painful thing you can do while taking blood: move the needle around under the skin searching for a vein instead of starting over with a clean needle. 3 times this happened while my teenager cried and eventually had to throw up in the middle of the process. The nurse was obviously grossed out and annoyed. It's part of her job to hide that and if she's unable, she's in the wrong field. As she angrily stomped over to get a fresh butterfly needle kit, she let out an audible sigh and my daughter looked at me and actually said "Im sorry" like she felt as if she had done something wrong . They call names out and you can't hear over all the riff raff in the waiting room. You go up to ask if they called your daughters name to make sure you're not skipped over after 6 hours and you're rudely told that they can't tell you that. Even after I explained that no one on that side of the waiting room can hear the names called. My daughter, who has thrown up twice now, was being watched by the woman behind the desk as she chatted with another staff member. I had to wait in line to ask what I should do with an open bag of puke. Yeah. She tells me to "just throw it in the trash." The open trash can that's in the middle of the waiting area. AN OPEN BAG OF VOMIT. It stunk up the entire area. Lazy and unsanitary. This place is out of control and this many 1 star reviews over a long period of time SCREAMS that this place needs an overhaul. New administration. More training. A deep clean. SOMETHING. The only clear organization was the security guard up front. I am enraged. I feel sick to my stomach. I've been to ERs where I had to wait many hours and I didn't get angry bc I could clearly see they were doing their best. Even when Im unsatisfied with a place, its rare that I take the time to post a negative review. But this place has so many issues. Steer clear of it. If I thought filing a formal complaint would do any good...I'll get an automated reply to this telling me to fill out a feedback form like every other 1 star review. The lack of empathy, care and cleanliness is beyond words. The carelessness is straight up dangerous.

PLEASE DO NOT GO TO MOUNT CARMEL EAST EMERGENCY ROOM!!!! If you’re in any type of excruciating pain. These people will have you in this waiting room for HOURS!! I checked in at 7:41pm… it’s now 1:26AM NEXT DAYYY 😭 this is the WORST EVERRR! 2 other women were in here throwing up asking for help & all they kept saying was they are waiting for rooms. This is not an emergency center. I got discharged at 3:15am

Sitting in er right now and been her 6 hrs with confirmed broken back and can’t in to a room, all of my care has been from a waiting room. After 6.5 hrs got a room, was discharged and they left this. I called charge nurse Britney, who was absolutely rude and acted as if this was no big deal…

If I could put zero as a rating I would. The front desk staff don't work just like the other reviews said. They do not take patients and their pain seriously. They talk about patients to other staff members. I specifically heard them speak on my husband and say he threw himself on the floor which was a ridiculous observation that was totally untrue. They don't treat patients like human beings nor do they tend to any patients in a timely or urgent manner. I mean this is the emergency department right? The only reason we went here was because of the distance from our home but due to the terrible treatment we had to go to an even further hospital for better service. Please believe the bad reviews and do not waste your time coming here. I already filled out a form on their website, but I don' think it will even make a difference here.

Waited for about 12 hours in the waiting room just to get told there was 6 people “ahead of me”. I checked in at 1:40 AM and left at 2 PM the next day. Clearly this place can’t function properly with the staff laughing and joking around at the front desk while they treat 1 patient every 3 hrs when there are 3 doctors on duty with multiple nurses. Please don’t come to this emergency room, quit possible the worst experience I’ve ever had at an ER, or actually I never experienced the part where my damaged ligament was an “emergency”. I only experience the waiting room, and sleep deprivation with lack of any and all service. Also please do not send me a link to fill out a survey of to why my experience was bad, I never want anything to do with this Mount Carmel branch for as long as I’m in this insufferable world. Mount Carmel East Branch ER in Ohio should not be afloat, shut. It. Down.

Took my mom here for Chest pain and shortage of breath. They forgot she was there multiple times, they checked her in and gave her the band of the wrong patient and only realized when I said something 3 hours in, the place was absolutely disgusting. There was trash everywhere. Dirty gloves, alcohol pads, tissues all over the ground. They were not cleaning the rooms between patients at all. After 5 hours of waiting while my mom was struggling to breathe and had to be on oxygen the nurse finally told us the wait was 11 hours and they wouldn’t be able to even give her something for nausea until she saw the doctor in 11 hours. After the 6th hour we left and they wouldn’t give any record of what was done there. I have never been to an er with so much malpractice and so disgusting. They should not be operating like this.

If Zero was an option it would be zero. Went to ER waited 3 hours with no attendance was told I was looking at 2 more hours at least. I drove 10 minutes away to diley ridge. No wait but since east didn’t acknowledge me when I told them what I was doing I had another 11/2 hour wait at a hospital that had no wait because east had my file locked up thinking I was still there waiting when I told them what I was doing. DONT GO. ITS A ZOO WOTH NO ZOOKEEPER

I had my mom there for care. Everyone was so nice and caring. Even though there was some unruly patients the nurses were amazing.

I am genuinely shocked at all of the 1 star bad reviews. I had the best ER experience here ever. I was having trouble breathing and came in early yesterday. The front desk lady wasn't rude at all like other reviews say. I didn't have to wait at all. I went right in the room and the sheet was dirty but the nurse immediately stripped it and got me a clean one. But the real reason I'm giving 5 stars is my nurse that administered all of my testing. I believe she may be an actual angel on earth. I believe she said her name was Sydney. I'm terrible with names so I apologize if I'm wrong. I had to get a flu, covid, and strep test done. She was so gentle with the covid test, it was the easiest one I've ever gotten. Strep tests are really hard for me due to some mouth trauma from my past. She was patient and understanding. She spent every bit of 10 minutes getting the swab and I could not thank her enough for the compassion she showed me. Test results and the doctor came in super quickly. I was checked in, seen, tested, tested, and released in about an hour.

The woman working the front desk on 12/21/22 around 11:30pm was extremely rude. My family and I were worried about a loved one and she refused to tell us where she was and kept ignoring us to talk to her coworkers. Literally got distracted from our extremely urgent conversation 3 times to talk about lunch and plans with her friends. She didn’t even excuse herself she just ignored us and turned her head mid conversation. 0/10 experience.

My daughter had bad pain on her right side and it did not subside, so we went to Mt Carmel East ER. The PA ordered Blood, urine, and CT tests. We waited 5 hours in the waiting room and never saw a doctor. My daughter got so fed up she found a nurse to take out her IV. The nurse advised against her leaving. The PA told her she came too early with most likely appendicitis. What Seriously? Come on Man. On the way back to the car, she had to stop every so often because of the pain in her side. I forgot to mention the poor guy in the waiting room that got brought in by ambulance and had a catheter. They also waited 5 hours to see a doctor. They were still there when we left. There was an elderly lady and her son in the ER who were there at the same time we were. The poor lady was gasping for air toward the 4th hour and the nurse brought her oxygen. Her and her son were still sitting in the waiting room when we left. If you can't staff your ER Mt Carmel, don't have one! I will never go to Mt Carmel's emergency room again. I would rather drive to OSU.

On Friday 12/8, my daughter went to the ER with uncontrolled vomiting, waitted for about 30-45 minutes, then was seen by Dr. Grace and his team, all people were so nice, explained everything, did blood work, and gave her IV fluids and medications, we are highly appreciated for all what you did with my daughter.

The VA authorized me a visit to the ER due to anemia to get blood. I have been waiting now for over 8.5 hours for blood, a stand to hang the bag from, and a chair or wheelchair to sit in while being administered the blood. The real kick in the teeth is the labs have been complete and I have been sitting with an IV to administer the blood for approximately 7 hours. Why am I waiting for a room and bed when I don’t need that? Apparently this happens often according to a regular. Personally, the administrator needs to figure it out!! The excuse is they are busy. I don’t disagree. However I see staff that is not busy that could be helping to figure it out. Not everybody needs a bed. The guy next to me just needs a Dr note for a pre-existing condition. Come on….. we are better than this. Why are you and your staff satisfied with a 9 hour wait in the ER??? FIGURE IT OUT!!!!

I went in to the ER Monday around 5pm in EXCRUCIATING PAIN and waited in the waiting area for 3 hours before i was brought to the back. I kept going to the nurses at the front crying my eyes out, i could not breathe, barely could walk or talk from all the pain i was in and all she could do was tell me how many people were ahead of me. My mom had to call up from New York (she’s an ER Nurse) and spoke to I believe her name was Katie or Kathy, and she assured my mom that a nurse would come out and reassess me because i truly felt like i was dying! She lied because that never happened. I kept looking at her in so much pain tears in my eyes and she would just look away. Until finally a little after 8pm i was brought to a room and test were getting done. Turns out, I had a cyst in my ovary that ruptured and I was HEMORRHAGING! Had to be admitted and surgery was performed early Tuesday morning. On a more positive note, every single person who came in contact with me from my nurses, to the techs, to Dr’s (there were shift changes during my stay) they were all GREAT. so attentive and gentle with me. Especially nurse Colleen. I was out of it for most of my stay due to being in so much pain and on meds that it’s all a real blurr, but i will forever be grateful for every single person that helped me once i was in! My Dr called me after i was discharged later that evening to follow up and check and see if i was okay, which was great. That front desk lady could have caused me to die for not taking my pain serious, but i am here and healing well so that’s the 3 stars!

Was there for 11 hrs total. I was in excruciating pain. Waited 2 hrs to get a room. I understand that there are many emergencies and people that go to the emergency who really should have gone to urgent care but shouldn’t the people in actual pain or with breathing problems go first? It feels like no one knows you’re there. The 2nd dr I had was great though. As well as the ultrasound tech And one guy that wasn’t my nurse who showed kindness they’re the reason it even gets 2 stars. I know the nurses have a lot going on and I don’t blame them for real. But it’s like whoever runs this place doesn’t care or try to improve things cuz these comments from months and years ago show no changes from what I experienced 2 days ago. Like get it together.

Ventilated Patient screaming in pain for over two hours, vomiting and passed out. No sense of urgency in alleviating pain. ER nurse was uncaring. Do not come here.

Waited 11 hours. Nurses are overworked and stressed … with too many patients. My doctor said they should’ve checked for meningitis but instead I went to this ER twice and they discharged me, despite my symptoms and refused to do more. Also, very dirty!!

Checked my mother-in-law in at 5:30 pm with possible UTI infection. It's now 3:30 am and after 10 hours, we're still waiting for a Dr to deliver the full battery of test results. Excuse is "No Beds", but why is a bed necessary for a consult? This place is a major joke for an emergency facility.

I have experienced 1-7 hour waits just to get a bed in the ER. Then anywhere from 3-8 hours to get a bed in the hospital. Takes a while to answer call lights. However, it can be because how many people keep flowing in with medical issues, including emergencies, and they just don’t have the beds. You may want to try ER hospitals in central Ohio that have many, many, many more beds if you can’t wait at all.

Can I leave 0 stars because my dad almost died to the laziness of the doctor on staff today. 2+ hours before he could receive pain meds for a pain scale of 13(passing out and throwing up from the secere pain). He requires respiratory assistance and we were here 5 hours before respiratory noticed us. When asking for ANY HELP the response was "I'll tell the doctor" the only compassion we received was from a volunteer just trying to help where she could. Do not bring your loved one here. Drive a little farther or request ANY other hospital but this one. I beg of you do not send your loved one here. My dad receives nousishment through a PEG tube, the entire time he pleaded for water and was never received anything. We have been here for 9 hours with out any answers.

Had a more minor issue and was in and out in under 3 hours. The staff were friendly and responded to what I needed in a timely manner. Thank you to the night shift!

Highly unprofessional! The doctor didn’t even check my arm. Literally told me, my LEFT arm broken out in a swollen rash up and down it and painful, it could either be an allergic reaction or infected. Did not offer medicine or any type of treatment in hospital. Wrote a prescription for either allergies or infection both. Told me if neither worked to come back. By the time I was released the pharmacy was closed. I’m currently up past midnight now in pain. Going to another ER in the morning because I don’t want to wake my daughter up in the mid of night. Being a single mother I’m very disheartened by the lack of care and empathy the so called doctors at this place display. It’s truly ridiculous and someone could die going to this place due to their inadequacy of proper care. Why this branch is still open after multiple complaints is beyond me! If I could give them negative stars I would!

Will NEVER come back here!! My mom has been in the ER for almost 8 hours. She has only been seen by the physician assistant…no doctors. They have left her waiting and not checked on her for hours at a time and no-one has offered her any type of food. I would give zero stars if that were an option!
