Respectful place and great atmosphere. I just moved into Omaha and Greg was awesome. He welcomes you and makes you feel like family. On top of that, the latte was amazing. Definitely recommend this place to anybody.

WOW! What a find! A hidden treasure in mid-downtown Omaha! If it’s out of your way, it’s worth it! If you’re in town, it’s a must! And if you’re from here, you’re damn lucky! It’s not your average coffee shop. It’s like walking into a speakeasy hidden in the modest façade of this stand-alone building on 16th street. When you enter, it feels like stepping onto a movie set of a vintage bar scene. The long elegant dark wood bar adorned with parallel round stools took me by surprise and right back to the historic coffee bars I visited around the Pantheon in Rome, Italy. Interior aside, Howlin’ Hounds is a unique place to mingle with the locals and pick up on the town’s culture, or casually take part discussing current news and politics. Stay 5 minutes and there’s undoubtedly something witty, funny, or intriguing coming from behind the bar. Whether you come in to pick up your perfectly prepared (though be warned the standard serving size is three shots worth of espresso) drink or choose to sip it peacefully at the bar and indulge in some much sought after “Greggisms”…you are in for a rare treat! Pros: Eloquent charming host, captivating conversation, warm Midwest hospitality, exquisite artisan coffee, vintage inviting space, and one-of-a-kind experience! Cons: You will most likely fall in love with the pros and wish Greg will one day clone himself and his bar!

Amazing! I'm picky about how my beans are roasted and this was by far the best cup I've had in Omaha. Finally a place that does it right. Inexpensive, quality, nutty and aromatic! This is the cappuccino and it's only $5!! That's a deal! If I could give 10 stars I would. :) The owner is also amazingly sweet and welcoming. Stop by if you want that true coffee experience. The konabarica life!

Love! Love! Love! Hubs and I visited on our weekly coffee date and WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED! While the food selection was small, there were pastries, the coffee and atmosphere more than made up for it. Hounds has a different atmosphere than other coffee shops. The set up was like a bar, so you belly up to it. The "coffee tender" was awesome. He was welcoming and great to talk to. The coffee was smooth and delicious. No funny aftertaste like some 'mainstream' coffee joints have. Howlin' Hounds is top of our list!

My husband and I stumbled on this place during our visit to Omaha and were so happy we did! Phenomenal drip coffee and espresso drinks and great conversation. The owner is super friendly and the place has a great atmosphere. Easy to miss from the outside, but definitely stop by!

We love this place, the atmosphere, location, and every cup of coffee is like a piece of art! The quality of the flavor in every cup is unbelievable! If you’re a true coffee enthusiast you’re in for a treat, and speaking of treats, try the OCookieOs they have there, they’re low sugar, cookie-donuts, & gluten free. Definitely recommend!

Randomly stopped by for a cortado on my way to the botanical garden and was blown away by the coffee and stayed for an hour or so just chatting with Greg. If you live in Omaha or plan to visit, please visit this coffee shop. You won’t be disappointed!

Beautiful space with graffiti artwork on the walls serving up a variety of coffees. I did the iced vanilla coffee ($4.00) . My group did an assortment of drinks. Everyone was very pleased. The barista (Greg) grew up in this space. I believe he is the owner. Sounds like a family business. The barware is specifically selected. They are very casual and friendly. would happily come back! Seating is limited when it comes to the table but they have a large bar that is very comfortable to sit at.

This is how coffee shops should be done. At many places you get your coffee, sit at a table alone and do busy work on your tablet or phone. This is a much better experience, you sit at a real bar (that's what this place use to be) you have conversations, you get to know people. I've become a regular by choice. It's like Cheers with coffee and Greg instead of Sam Malone. We have all walks of life coming through the door being welcomed.... I haven't even mentioned the coffee yet.... its wonderful, every coffee I have tried is great, brewed properly, served in a old school ceramic cup. Be it great conversations or watching Greg whip up the fancy drinks as good as any barista anywhere. This place is where fun happens. Pull up a stool and a cup.... you will come back.

I'm not from Omaha, so I've only been able to visit once as I passed through, but two things have remained with me: 1. Coffee was the best I've had in a long time, and I know coffee pretty well. I tried two coffee places in Omaha, and this one was vastly superior. I'd be willing to bet it's the best in Omaha (at the very least). 2. The owner is an amazing example of taking a seemingly small task (coffee) and transforming it into an art form and an act of service to the community. I'll remember my brief interaction with him for a long time, because his sincerity and care imbued the establishment so profoundly that I thought: "Wow! One individual really can change the world." This may sound hyperbolic for a coffee shop experience, but Greg really does perform his work with a gentleness and love that I haven't seen elsewhere. In a time of global change and insecurity, it remains with me as a powerful reminder that one person performing their little work in love can make a big difference. So, I sincerely thank you for a great cup of coffee and for the memorable example of how each of us should approach our life's work.

To start with WOW! Attention to the details of the coffee that goes well beyond the typical as well as the expected. Wish this was closer to my space but really glad to visit at which point Howlin' Hounds Coffee is a must visit daily. If you are in a hurry like at the SB coffee shops, don't stop here as the product is hand crafted and not for those folks just trying to get their caffeine dose. Stop, sit, converse and realize what a community coffee shop could be like.

It’s my first time here in Omaha and I always look for a good coffee spot. This one was down the street from my hotel and it was perfect! Good vibes, so welcoming and delicious coffee. I would definitely recommend this place.

A place of amazing coffee, an owner who takes pride in his craft and connecting people who care. Stimulating conversations are a regular occurrence. I also love its close proximity to the airport, I was able to stop by this morning enjoy a delightful time catching up with friends take my espresso to go while waiting for my husband to land. Much better than waiting in the cell phone lot.

Great STRONG espresso. Cappuccino is quite smooth and has a great flavor. It's nice that he keeps some fruit turnovers and crescent rolls to pair with his coffee.

After trying out a few coffee spots in omaha I gotta say howling hounds is the complete package. Great coffee in a beautiful space and a wonderful owner operator who doesn't compromise on his quality, and on top of that he is a great conversationalist, which is rare to find in the service sector theses days. I will be sure to stop in on all future visits to omaha.

I love visiting local coffee shops when away from home and this place did not disappoint. The gentleman behind the counter is one of the kindest, most welcoming people. A man came in who did not look well-off and was asking questions in Spanish. The barista went and greeted the man and offered him a cup of coffee and then realizing he didn’t speak English, the barista asked his friend who did for help and they were able to communicate with the gentleman. It was so nice to see unabashed cordiality, no matter your walk of life. Coffee was excellent, the chocolate croissant was delicious and the ambience and staff made you want to hang out there all day. I highly recommend this lovely coffee shop.

I recently visited Howlin’ Hounds Coffee in Omaha, Nebraska and had a wonderful experience. The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. Their chai latte was exceptional, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice and sweetness. I highly recommend stopping by this charming coffee shop for a warm and friendly atmosphere, along with a delicious chai latte.

Absolutely loved this place. We are only in Omaha for a brief visit, but the coffee was honestly my favorite part. You can tell how much the owner cares about providing a quality product. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic coffee! We were visiting and this was walking distance from our hotel. Their coffee was high quality, the service was exceptional, and there is beautiful art decorating the walls. I went 2 days in a row and noticed a few "regulars" coming in to chat, which made it feel more like home.

This place is hands down the best coffee shop in the city. Greg, the proprietor, is friendly and genuine. Every drink I've ever gotten from him has been excellent, and the environment he provides makes the experience even better. If you're looking for the best, you'll find it at Howlin' Hounds.

Outstanding coffee. Wonderful conversation. Overall one of the best coffee experiences I’ve had in the USA. Make sure you stop in and try the Sumatra beans.

I had cappuccino coffee which was great. The friendly and welcoming ambience is wonderful although during the renovation. Definitely, go back for more. It seems the new coffee bar will be amazing.

I can’t say enough how excellent this place always is. I took my girlfriend from out of state to Howlin’ Hounds because I knew the owner would make it a special experience. She loved her cortado and my mocha was fantastic as well. The atmosphere is great, with a beautiful bar and unique artwork on display. Thank you for the hospitality and conversation!

Coffee is excellent - there is no place to hide poor quality with an espresso and mine was very good. A small selection of fresh pastries. All around great coffee shop.
