During a trip to Coventry had few hours to spare, the choice was between go and see the Transport Museum or the Music Museum, I wisely choose the latter one. Few minutes walk from the centre, in the middle of the lively Coventry streets (with A LOT of Barber shops, why so many is still a mistery to me) and I arrive in this internal alley called 2-tone courtyard, and just passed the 2-tone Cafe that looked really nice, but the museum closes early at 16.00, so no time for coffee, and after a very very reasonable entrance fee, you enter in a phantasmagorical time capsule that illustrate all the musical universe from Coventry and Warwickshire, you don't need to be a Ska fan and part of the 2-Tone cult (there, i said it!!!!!) To appreciate it, in a small place you'll be overloaded with more memorabilia that you can ask for, from old programs to hundreds of records and costumes (one from Tracey Tracey from The Primitives comes to mind....and stays there!!!!) Trainers autographed by Madness members, a whole John and Yoko corner, and a whole wall dedicated to the singles that made the charts, my personal favourite is the recreation of a bedroom from some youth with posters, records and a Marathon bar on the side table. The staff are friendly and approachable and being this an independent museum what really transpire is the total love and dedication given to put it together, forget for a moment that is a museum and consider it instead a visit to a friend that is eager to show ya his collection accumulated during many years. You'll be touched as me that he decided to share it and show it to ya!

A must visit destination not just for fans of 2 Tone. A well organised, interesting & unique museum run by volunteers who are as friendly as they are knowledgeable. Fun interactive activities such as playing musical instruments, trying on various Ska style hats &, this is where I was beside myself with excitement, being able to sit in the actual real life car used in The Specials' Ghost Town video! The shops & cafe are all well worth a visit too. A friendly, welcoming atmosphere in the whole 2 Tone Village - loved it!

Great little gem of a place !! Especially if you like 2 tone music and culture surrounding it ! So often it was said to be racist but it was just the opposite , just as the name suggests . What a fantastic culture and music too !! Also it looks into the history of everything musical to come out of Coventry , which was alot more than I thought 🤔😀 Well worth a visit .😎

There are lots of interesting things to see and interactive things to do. The 2-Tone shops and the whole village are definitely well worth a visit.

3rd visit here and always something new to see. It would be "rude" not to call in to the 2-tone cafe, great food and prices.

Absolutely speachless, I took a new date here and he was "blown away' the Coventry music history that the museum has amassed is astounding. Staff were fantastic and added to the fun. Best two hours I've spent in Coventry for years...and I live here!

Just had to pay a visit while in Coventry for the Lloyd Cole concert at the Cathedral. If you are a music fan (like me) you will love this place! So much interesting memorabilia and local history on display, run by lovely friendly and knowledgeable people. Such a buzz to sit in the actual car used in the Ghost Town video! The whole 2-Tone village is a great little community and a great place to hang out. I bought a t-shirt in the clothes shop next door to the museum and then a signed Selecter LP from the memorabilia shop. There's also a cafe and a bar in the arcade too. We definitely want to go back again as soon as possible! 😁

This was the absolute highlight of our day!!!! What a fantastic place... brilliant music memorabilia, brilliant staff and we had a brilliant time. It's a MUST visit for all SKA/2Tone fans, with fab music playing, great photo opportunities, plus interesting chats with the staff. In fact I expressed such an interest in one particular artist (that I didn't know was from Coventry) I was given a signed single of his. Totally blown away with their kindness!!!! 100% all about giving a great experience. This was also extended to the cafe where the staff were exceptional and the menu divine (& cheap as chips). Go... you won't be disappointed!!!!

Excellent museum. So much packed into a small space. The iconic car from Ghost Town is amazing and the incredibly friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff told us stories and took photos of us. It’s set in 2 Tone Village which is also great to wander around and the shops have fantastic clothes, books etc - again the friendliest people you could wish to meet. The cafe is fab, lots of pictures and great atmosphere with lovely food too. We had a great afternoon there. A must for ska fans and a chance to find out about other Coventry music and connections too. Really interesting and enjoyable. Thank you!

A small museum with a lot of music memorabilia. Coventry and its neighbours have a long history with music. The museum displays items and information from different eras and genres. From ska to punk, The Specials to Hazel O'Connor, Delia Derbyshire to James Morrison. There are also some hands-on activites and a small room on the ground floor where visitors can play different instruments, including guitars, drums, and a theramin. We (a group of adults) spent about 30-40 minutes in there. It is run entirely by volunteers. They are all lovely, knowledgeable, happy to help, and seemed to genuinely enjoy being there. I visited with my sister and my two sons (both students). The cost is £5 each or £3 for concessions. Even though my sons didn't have their NUS card or anything on them, we were still only charged the student price after being asked their age and mentioning that they were students. I've known about the Music Museum for years but this was my first visit. Would definitely go again and recommend to anyone interested in the Coventry music scene, music history, and music in general. ... Getting there: It's not easy to find and there is no parking. We followed the Waze App to get us there but had to continue a little further down the road, parked in a side street, and walked about 5 minutes back up the road. The museum is in Two Tone Village, which is not sign-posted until you get there, and is in between other shops on a main road. There is an Egg Free Cake Box shop on one corner, and a Subway on another corner. The village is through an archway about halfway between the two. If walking from Coventry City Centre, it's about a 20 minute walk. There are also buses from the city centre. ... Accessibility information: The museum is based mainly on the first floor up a fairly narrow flight of stairs. The museum can accommodate visitors who can't climb stairs but recommend letting them know in advance. The space also has some rather narrow parts so may be difficult for wheelchair users to navigate. There is no toilet in the museum but visitors can use the toilets in the 2Tone Café opposite.

Wonderful museum packed with many interesting items. Friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable staff are available to enhance your experience, should you require it. There are photo opportunities to be had - complete with props - plus the chance to play (in my case badly) some musical instruments; great for those who may be a little young to remember 2-Tone. Well worth a visit.

An absolute gem of a place! Me and my friend visited the two tone village, it was amazing, full of memorabilia! Ruth was so helpful. We had a great time reminiscing and having a giggle at the same time. We had lunch in the adorable Caribbean restaurant over the way, the jerk chicken was to die for! Can't wait to come back.

You must visit this place if you have an interest in music (not just two tone) the staff are informative and attentive. They will endeavour to answer questions if you have them. You can even play instruments in a mock up of a small recording booth. Brilliant visit thank you. For a £4 entrance fee and staff that volunteer, I was happy to spend money elsewhere in the place to support the museum. Great job everyone 👍

If you're interested in 2 Tone, then this is the place to visit. A compact Museum featuring memorabilia from the 2 Tone era. Explaining how it came about, together with information on the Bands, and songs that defined the era.

Can't recommend the two tone museum enough. Very friendly welcome from everyone we met, in the cafe, the museum and the shop. Bought back lots of memories of growing up listening to the specials and all the other ska and two tone bands.

Small and compact museum, it may only be a few rooms, but there is so much memorabilia crammed into these rooms, it took over an hour to tour. Very friendly staff who are happy to stand and chat, take photos, answer questions and share stories. Really interesting and would go again.

Fantastic place to visit if you're ever in Coventry. Wide range of history on the Music of Coventry as a whole, as well as 2 tone and the ghost town car. Just one thing, the muesem is run by volunteers and you need cash to pay for entry.

Having been into 2 tone/Ska music nearly all my life this was a must for me. Didn't even know it existed untill seeing a program on the BBC a week before. But it's been open three years. A little bit difficult to find maybe 20 mins walk from Coventry city centre. But what a fab place, staff were so helpful and friendly showing us round and answering questions. Even got to sit in the original car from the video of Ghost Town. Hidden gem brilliant, will be back.

Fabulous morning here today. The range of stuff on display is fantastic, showcasing the breadth of musical talent from Coventry. Beautifully preserved collection, maintained with real passion for the subject and the city. Great volunteers too, Ian and Ruth made us feel very welcome indeed. £5 a ticket is an incredible price, but make sure you have cash as they don't take cards
