The hotel has a special, unique atmosphere being in an old house nicely decorated. A very big room, with a desk and a sofa to read. The bed was very comfortable. The check in went quick, internet was ok. Very good quality price option, I will come back for sure. The only inconvenience for my stay was hot water, that came only a bit warm, I hope it was just a temporary issue.

I stayed at Hotel Royal for about two weeks with a large group. The hotel was kept spotless, the staff were amazing, friendly people, and the food was the most delicious! We were served beautiful 5 course meals, something I have never experienced before at a hotel, especially at a place this affordable. The hotel is located in a very good area and a short walk away from the city’s center (about 7-10 minutes). I could not have stayed at a better hotel while in Romania. My group and I had developed a friendship while staying there that when it was time to leave for home we were crying our goodbyes and so was the staff. Stayed at the Royal in Craiova for 3 nights at the beginning of August, 2015. Hotel is situated in a quiet district but within walking distance of the centre of Craiova. The room was very well appointed with an excellent bathroom. The staff at the reception spoke very good English and were extremely helpful in suggesting places to eat and providing directions. There was a very wide choice for breakfast in the morning.

Great for short business stays, but I stayed in better 3 star hotels. It feels old and smells the part but it's clean and staff are friendly. There's no elevator and the food in the morning is ok but does not knock your socks off. Overall ok.

Nice clean rooms with amazing mattresses. The hotel is a historical mansion and there are a LOT of steps and no elevator. Free wifi throughout although it was in and out in my room (201) but great elsewhere (lobby, restaurant). They wash clothes for an additional fee and deliver back to your room the same day. I have stayed here the last two years and plan to for future visits to Craiova. Very affordable and the breakfast buffet was very nice (additional charge)
