Wonderful place to get to and wonderful to enjoy. 1) went here today in winter season. Main roads were accessible. You park at Çal City Center. Then you walk on snowy slippery sloped roads for 2 km to get to the cave. The walk takes 30 minutes upwards but one hour downwards. Too risky for children and elderly during snow season. 2) the location is magnificent. The scenery is magical. 3) the cafe was empty at noon when I arrived. I enjoyed the place by myself alone. 4) there’re waterfalls inside the cave and outside the cave. You walk all over bridges and platforms with water running beneath you. 5) I didn’t find the cave cold, if you’re wearing a jacket, it’s enough. 6) loved the place and highly recommended.

Calkoy Cave is an awe-inspiring natural wonder that left me utterly captivated. Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Turkey, this cave's beauty is beyond words. As I ventured deeper into its depths, I was met with a mesmerizing display of stalactites and stalagmites that seemed to have been intricately crafted by an otherworldly artist. The interplay of light and shadows within the cave created an ethereal atmosphere that added to its allure. If you're seeking an unforgettable underground adventure, Calkoy Cave is an absolute must-visit destination.

Çal Cave is believed to have formed in 8 million years and it has reached its present shape in two stages. In the first stage, it is recorded that the water leaking from the surface dissolves the limestone and provides an underground water channel. In the second phase, it is stated that the water flow which leads to cave development decreases and the development of the cave stops. In this period, it is reported that the water leaked from the water channels, which are connected to the sinkholes at higher elevations, started to form stalagmites and stalagmites. The entrance of Cal Cave is a height of human height. In some places, the height is 25-30 m. The cave, which is estimated to have a length of approximately 4 km, has a length of about 850m. With this feature, it is among the longest caves of Türkiye. There are social infrastructure, coffee house and promenade areas around the cave. Located above the cave and above the entrance to the cave and used as a tea house today, the small cave room forms a waterfall in the spring season when the rain falls and the snow falls. In addition to local handicrafts and products, visitors can also serve tea, toast, pancakes and breakfast at the buffet in front of the cave.

(Translated by Google) It is located 40 km inland from Samsun Trabzon road. But I recommend you to visit it. The road is fine, you do not have any difficulties. The inside of the cave is truly terrifying. It's awfully creepy. I've also visited many caves in Turkey. But I haven't seen anything as creepy as this place. There is a water spring in the cave, a waterfall flows through the mountain. The real creepy thing is this water sound. The roads inside the cave are very beautiful. Lighting could be a little better. The most beautiful part of it is the lake at the entrance of the cave. A perfect natural wonder.

Çalköy Mağarası is named after the village Çalköy, where it is located. It is a rather huge cave with a cave river. The water level of the river depends on the weather and changes quite substantially during the year. In the rainy season in winter it is 50 cm deep, in summer only 25 cm. The entrance is quite spectacular, a vertical limestone cliff with the resurgence at its foot. The river is channelled and dammed, only a few metres before the cave entrance, which keeps the level of the water stable, at least in the entrance area of the cave. The entrance section is low for about 150 m and visitors have to stoop. Then the cave widens and speleothems are found. And is has the typical legends of a Turkish show cave to tell, which are so obvious lies, normal people could never tell them: Çal Cave is the second longest cave of the world. It is also good for asthma and sinusitis diseases due to its different air circulation. The cave has a length of 8 kilometers, but can be visited only for a length of about 1 kilometer.

The caves were a great experience for the family. Walk through and enjoy the rock formations and even a small area where water gushes through. It is very cold....a jacket or thick sweater is a must. Along the road walking up to the caves there are women selling snacks....I recommend a older lady named Ana, she was a sweetheart and full of laughter.

Best long deep cave experience ever with very natural beauty and streaming water from the mountain. The walkway and the lighting inside the cave are excellent. The waterfall at the very depth of the cave is magical. You can also enjoy coffee shops outside and other tourist activities.

Calkoy Cave is truly a hidden gem nestled in the heart of nature's beauty. From the moment I stepped inside, I was mesmerized by the otherworldly formations and the serenity that envelops this underground wonder. The intricate stalactites and stalagmites that have formed over centuries create a breathtaking and mystical atmosphere. The guided tour was informative and engaging, providing a glimpse into the geological history of the cave. What sets Calkoy Cave apart is its untouched, pristine beauty, far from the crowds often found in more popular attractions. The cave's cool, damp air is a welcome respite from the outside world, making it the perfect escape on a hot day. Visiting Calkoy Cave is an opportunity to connect with nature and marvel at the Earth's hidden wonders. It's a must-see destination for anyone who appreciates the beauty of our planet. I left with a sense of awe and gratitude for the chance to experience such a unique and unspoiled natural wonder.

Beautiful place, with good scenery. It is located on top of a mountain and the drive up was fun. You pay 11 TL to get in the cave. If you are fond of photography, this is a good place for picture taking- slow motions/high exposure as it is dark. Heads up, bring a sweater with you as it is a bit cold inside. On top of the cave there is a cafe for your tour guide to have rest and wait for you while you finish your tour. The cafe has a great Turkish coffee.

Nice and strange place to visit. It's very cold inside which is amazing. The tour inside won't take long, between 30 to 40 minutes is sufficient. Also, the road to the cave is on mountains and the views are insanely beautiful. Honestly, I enjoyed the trip more than the cave 😊

This is such a calm place, if u ever get a chance do visit this place.. I was amazed at the lake inside a cave and then such a big waterfall within a Cave. It's entry is very cheap, when we went it was only 20 Turkish Lira, I'd totally recommend this place.

  • 3/5 Berty Y. 9 months ago on Google
Entry fee cheap Took us <1hr to walk through and see all the saves via the paths - there are steep steps so take baby in a carrier if you can Overall, it was underwhelming. They could make more of the lighting etc, to make it more dramatic. If you have nothing to do and it’s a hot day, then worth a visit. The caves can be cold inside, bring a jumper or jacket. In high season - summer - expect it to be somewhat busy inside and outside. For parking - just park on the street outside, you may have to go past the entrance to get a spot and walk back down to it.

  • 5/5 Bashir U. 1 year ago on Google
Cal Cave is recognized as the second longest cave of the world. A small stream flows through the cave. There is a historical castle over the cave. The cave bifurcates into two in 200 meters to the entrance. It is understood that the castle was communicated with the cave through inner passages and in time these passages were covered due to the landslides. The inside of the cave is both scary and beautiful. If you come to Trabzon You mast visit this place.
