A sacred place for Orthodox Christians especially visited regularly. A must see. The church has many ancient paintings still very colorful after hundreds of years.

Perhaps if we were there at another time, it would be worth the admission fee (70 Lira) but unfortunately it was under reconstruction while we were there (03/17). The entirety of the structure had scaffolding around it on the outside, and inside, only a few rooms were open. That said, I can only imagine it's splendor. The limited frescoes and such that we did see were quite nice! So, before you go, check the reviews (we didn't 😅🤣) and maybe you will have a better time than we did.

Not worth going. We were sold a trip there which was about 3h by bus one way. The church is not restored and looks old/half-destroyed. Our group eas forced to visit a store first where they sell overpriced icons. I wish I got my money and time back!

There should be more entertaining guides than museum provided ones

Entrance 7 euro, crowds of Russians brought by buses, icon shop outside, a very mass market place. I went in the dead season with no crowds, but anyway there's nothing much to see. Some mosaics still seen on the floor, a couple of frescos. A very sad place, it was a major church, but now it's just a tourist trap.

The largest part of the museum, including the Sarcophagus, is closed due to restoration. Noise of reconstruction is everywhere. The remaining part is extremely crowded by groups of tourists. Not worth a visit at the moment.

This is in fact a place built on the honor of St. Nicholas church after his dead. Remnants are worth seeing. Enjoy the historic atmosphere of Santa's place 👍
