no what expects! I thought you can dine in! Nop the food was really bad! The waffle sandwich really bad option! waffle super plain, no flavor, egg is cold and too much mayo! I thought will be awesome for the reviews but at least NO for me! The guys are really friendly, just no what expects! 😪

I left off a star because the automatic gratuity for carry out is ridiculous- I don’t care how it’s justified. I won’t ever go back for that reason. However I have to give it up for the kale vegan caesar salad- it’s very flavorful. It was a small portion for the price but very tasty.

As a loyal customer of Folk since its inception, I've had the privilege of witnessing their journey, from a full-service restaurant to their current phase as a café/grocery, and all the challenges of the pandemic. Throughout all transformations, Folk has remained dedicated to providing thoughtful, meticulously curated, and sustainable food options and practices. Their continuous creativity in crafting the menu is commendable, requiring significant effort. Notably, Folk is far from your average establishment, yet it has become a beloved community staple. Whether you seek a dining experience, carry-out, a delightful coffee and pastry, grocery shopping, or a bottle of wine, Folk has you covered. The staff's attentiveness ensures you'll be well taken care of—simply ask! I wholeheartedly recommend Folk with a 100% vote of confidence.

Had high hopes for the cafe since the photos on their Instagram page make the food look phenomenal. Upon visiting for brunch it was a bit of a disappointment. I guess awesome job on the professional food photography. We were told there would be an 18% service charge which i am ok with paying, but the seating was very minimal and the food was just ok. The portions are also small. Not worth the $50+ I paid for it. Iv paid less and had a much better meal and experience in other restaurants in the area. With inflation many us are cutting back and trying to make the most out of our dining experiences. If you are looking for a place where you can say “worth the money spent” this is not that place.

Great concept, poor execution. Of the 4 items we ordered (2 coffees and 2 breakfast meals), 3 were incorrect and 1 was undercooked; and staff were very slow to respond. The café was moderately busy at the time, but it was nowhere near overwhelming. The staff were very nice but seemed to have been hired more on their hip appearances and less on their customer/food service competencies. Perhaps they were understaffed in the kitchen, but either way, the experience and items above did not warrant the $40+ price tag.

Came in with my toddler daughter on Monday morning. Was greeted immediately and they brought a high chair over. Incredibly kind staff, great latte and delicious food! Wonderful spot! We had the waffle, avo toast- this was a fav, the hash and the brekkie. We will be back again soon.

Cool spot, order at the register and food is brought to you. Limited seating. Cool shop inside with some wine, olive oil, vinegar, sardines, olives, honey, sardines. Very nice vibe. Great vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options

The On the Croque sandwich (a fancy grilled cheese with ham) did not skimp on ham and hit the spot. The Waffle Sandwich was good though the maple aioli was more savory than expected. The oat milk lavender latte was good as well. It is on the pricey/fancy side of quick service places...a good place if you aim to impress. An 18% tip is automatically added.

This place has a French bistro feel! The hummus plate was totally amazing! The vegan crunch wrap and greens are so fresh and delicious! I love that they use locally sourced and sustainable ingredients, it shows!! 5 stars!

The chai latte wasn't the greatest. The breakfast wrap was decent BUT no salsa or cilantro as described in the menu. I think for 13 bucks I should get what I paid for. Overall the food was OK BUT NOT FOR THE PRICE. And the $7 dollar Cinnamon roll WAS NOT WORTH IT.

Cute place to grab a coffee, albeit pricey. Had a pumpkin latte and it was delicious. As with many smaller places that serve food in older buildings, their ventilation is not great so we left smelling a bit like food. I will visit in the warmer Weather and sit outside. Place is and quaint and staff friendly.

We loved the experience. Wait staff was very friendly. And our waffle was so good. The quiche was so fresh but needed just a touch more flavor. They always have new ones so I’m sure they’re always improving. So fun. Coffee was great and the atmosphere is so cool. Also, great lighting.

This egg sandwich was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I’ve been to Folk a few times and have never been disappointed but this sandwich was out-of-this-world good.

I understand and respect they want to use the “best” ingredients and utilize local vendors etc. - but their prices are absolutely insane. Go to any other place in Corktown/Detroit and you’ll get better portions, objectively better tasting food and locally sourced materials just like this place at lower prices. They need to get off their high horse that they’re the only one using/selling locally sourced things to justify high prices.

An amazing must try cozy cafe in Corktown. Their food was delicious and so was the coffee. We ordered Soba bowl, golden curry chicken meat pie and two coffees - elderberry mocha latte & rose latte. Highly recommend to check out this cafe and help promote this woman owned brand. We had a lovely experience.

Folk is one of the great little places I like to take the Sunday paper and have a late breakfast with coffee. It's a great weekend place to enjoy the neighborhood side of Corktown.. They renovated their dining area to add a counter at which you can sit and added more seating. It is very well done. I've upgraded my rating for service and atmosphere. I think they are improving well.

This was the breakfast of my dreams. The biscuits? Magical, fluffy, buttery, flaky, thiiiick. The pickled onions? Acidic, delicious, paired so well with the jammy egg. Also got the crunch wrap because….why not? The salsa verde was amazing, the scrambled egg was beyond fluffy, and the wrap itself was crispy crunchy! Loved this place so much. Not usually a breakfast person (I work nights and just dive straight into lunch lol) but this place completely changed my mind on making time and space for breakfast. Service was impeccable. Everyone was so genuinely kind, eager to help, and I absolutely do not mind paying 20% gratuity. Everyone will find a way to complain and make it about them, but this is a shining light of an establishment in Detroit. 10/10. Will be back. Also, not a big coffee drinker but got their dark chocolate orange blossom late with oat milk and it was beyond. Check them out IMMEDIATELY.

My husband and I saved up our money to be able to treat ourselves for our first wedding anniversary — lunch here did not disappoint!!!! It was PERFECTION. I ordered the limited asparagus melt with shaved ham + my husband ordered the crunch wrap with bacon.

Back when you first opened…. there was a cool van that used to come and sell cactuses out front. My husband got me this adorable little onion cactus and I loved it….and it went crazy and we repotted it and every day I think of you guys because I look at it 😁 it’s probably been about three years now???? Not sure…..and it has quadrupled in size and my granddaughter loves it. 🤗❤️🤗

The biscuit with rhubarb jam was so delicious! Cute little patio area right next to my favorite thrift store. Latte was good and lots of wine choices in store. The only thing is they forgot my friend’s tea but were swift once reminded. Definitely would go back!

Great find! We got brunch here on a Sunday, and everything about the experience was great. We got a crunch wrap, a house waffle and the nosh plate. The waffle was one of the best waffles I've ever had, and the rest of the food was just as delicious. We also got lattes which were very tasty as well. Their prices are lower and portions larger than what I might expect for a café in a large city. Will definitely come back next time we're in the area!

I swung by this morning for a coffee. It’s in corktown, with some parking on the street closeby. The rose almond cake was to die for, it had almost a coconuty texture to it and was rich with light flavor, very sweet! I also ordered the rose oatmilk latte which was prepared with a heart, much appreciated! Very smooth, not very foamy, very flavorful, it was delicious. The barista, Desmond, was very kind and helpful and personable. He had good energy! The atmosphere is small and has about 4-5 tables, maybe room for ten people. Wood tables, plasticy chairs with a little decorative piece on each table and a floral arrangement above you surrounded by marketplace goods. Definitely a unique very boho little cafe, worth a stop by!

Folk is fantastic - we super enjoyed their Ice Cream for Dinner event with Churned, SO fun. A great selection of food items and gifties, I picked up grocery boxes here at the start of the pandemic. The gratuity charge is an excellent example of valuing employees, love to see it.

Dedicated to Local and Sustainable Flavorful made to order coffee/breakfast/brunch choices with local sources. Little use of one use plastics. Delightful staff. Go There!

First time...very good but limited menu. Nice place to grab a quick breakfast and sit outside. Nice little store as well with local brands and craft products. Nice staff!

Food is amazing, drinks are delicious and the shop inside has an incredible selection of variety of products. If you live within walking distance of FOLK then you should be here a few times a week for a bite to eat or ingredients for dinner. (Just wished they opened earlier!)

I was hoping this place would live up to the reviews but my friend and I were disappointed😞 The food was pretty expensive and the portions are quite small. They were also out of sandwich bread which unfortunately ruled out lots of the menu. We both only got a couple small things and the bill was around $30. My pesto pasta salad was bland and her soba salad was good but small. I got the Cafe Miele and liked it at first until I swallowed a lot of big chunks of cinnamon and ended up not being able to drink the rest. Super cute place and kind staff, but probably won’t be back😕

I understand the mission behind charging more here but my husband and I paid $55 for 2 breakfast sandwiches and 2 iced coffees. We were not greeted kindly. Our sandwiches had waffle and egg. While they were fresh, they were not tasty. I believe that maybe if we had come for lunch we would have had something that tasted better but over all we didn’t have too pleasant of an experience here.

No dine in allowed. Cute shop inside. Nice murals and location. Masks required. Was hoping to spend time with a date here, hope was dashed by rules.

Cute store, I love the fact they are local and have local grocery items, going in I expected the prices to be on the higher side. However, I did not expect them to add a 18% gratuity fee on my grocery item, which I think is completely inappropriate. Imagine going into Kroger, Whole Foods, and even your local farmer's market and them adding a 18% gratuity fee for you to pick out your own groceries. Hopefully this policy will change at Folk. Furthermore, I did not have the opportunity to change the gratuity or have the option to say no, it was address to me like this is their policy and its automatically added to your bill. There was no changing it.
