The chalet was very clean but they need a bit of modernizing as it was very dated the chalet itself. The service at reception is ok. The location is amazing. Beautiful mountain view from the rooms.

The hotel is well maintained but the chalets need more attention. Yes the bedding in the chalets is clean. The carpet is not vacuum cleaned throughout your stay since they are self catering. Or at least they can provide a broom for the guests to sweep the carpet themselves.

Spent a family holiday there back in Oct 2021. Gorgeous scenery, lovely hikes and a very relaxed atmosphere. Chalets were decent enough and the newly built hotel and restaurant was great. A place to fill your soul.

Great location but the public bathrooms are in a horrible shape! Broken stuff all over, from toilets, doors, taps to soap dispensers - broken! Not clean and they have a funky smell. Everything is so dark, really not a welcoming feel. Hallways to the rooms are EXTREMELY dark! Not a welcoming safe feel at all.

The website is outdated. The staff does not take reviews or input seriously. The amenities advertised online, are not the amenities on the premises. Upon arrival at the hotel reception, we were informed of a daily conservation fee that was not included in our quotation for accommodation. Thabo at reception is an old man, with outdated politics and ideas on what the travel and tourism industry is since he started in 1998. I do not believe that any of the front of house staff have training in customer care. The food in the dining hall/restaurant is appalling. It's overseasoned, dry and tasteless (despite overseasoning.) The cleaning staff is extremely effeccient and friendly. Our chalet was well kept throughout our stay. If you're looking to get your money's worth, find alternative places like Kiara Lodge.

Stunning scenery, helpful staff, but sadly the hotel is still exactly the same as 20 years ago. Literally. The people in the chalet behind us had their electricity fail 10 o clock at night. And our toilet started leaking on day 2. Everything is being maintained. But needs replacement. But the stay was still enjoyable. Very nice hotel breakfast, beautiful hikes. The staff are very accommodating and professional.

Rooms are clean but can do with a remake. If you like hiking, this is the best place to visit. Spectacular views on top of the mountains. Clean, fresh air!

Rooms are basic (clean). The hikes were amazing! Watch out for "Brandwag Butters", not as child friendly as they say. (Great hike without a doubt, BEST view) Friendly and helpful staff!

Cold buffet, that is not good. I had diarrhea for over 2 days. Location is really nice, but do not eat there. It is not ok and overpriced.

Food was horrible, cold and didn't taste good. Sad they keep the lounge closed in the evening, it would be a good place to relax and to get a drink.

A wonderful interior. In my opinion Very deceiving from the outside. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there are amazing views from the lounge and dining area. Tennis courts and lots of walks through this historic vally. Highly recommended.

Amazing views all round, with the dinosaur museum and its breath taking sculptures. A bit chilly at night but overall a wonderful place to refresh and recharge

A very peaceful and quiet place... Surrounded by the magestic Mountains of Maluti, the Golden Gate Hotel and Chalets are a perfect spot for any mood for anyone... It boasts confidently with it peaks and sandstone mountains which time has curved and crafted over time though the wind... ONE The best My Country can offer when it comes to nature and beauty. #ShotLeft

Had a great stay over the long weekend. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The view from the chalets is breathtaking. The chalets are a little outdated but we found ours well maintained. There is a lot to do in the park with all the different hiking trails. It was also quite close to Clarens which is a bonus.

Beautiful setting, amazing staff and well-priced tasty food. Seamless check-in. Chalet comfortable and well-equipped, if in need of a little TLC. Peaceful.and serene breakaway to recharge your batteries. Magnificent views.

Ended up spending a night here after our hike got cancelled. The staff were incredible and went out of their way to assist in any way they could and make our stay enjoyable. We had to make our reservation telephonically as the online booking system wasn't working. The rooms were very comfortable and the view was beautiful.

Beautiful place to really get away. Staff is great, location is perfect if you want to get away from the city. Facilities are well maintained and the hiking trails are beautiful

Great hiking trials. Not too far from Johannesburg so nice place to go to for a weekend get away. Chalets carpets needs replacing or good clean. Otherwise the chalets for the price was okay.

Room was neat and clean, beautiful view Electric blanket was on , very hot! Especially being 15:00. Carpets in corridor dilapidated and filthy. Breakfast served till 10:30, was depleted at 9:55!!!! Eggs were brought with microwaved bacon, what a disaster! No teaspoons for coffee, will not see me again!

There was blood on the bed when we came in the room ,the bedding also had a weird smeel to it and at night u could hear something the whole night running on the roof The person at reception was not the nicest and most helpful of the batch When we ordered food ,had to wait an hour and a half and when I got my food I was so cold So wouldn't really recommend but if you want to come to a place that would be pretty to take photos u can come here

We had a corner chalet with a stunning view. The chalet however was a disappointment. Paint was flaking, dustbin had no lid, bathroom washbasin was blocked. Patio furniture rusted. Furnishing in general date back 30 years. No value for money.

I've often stayed at the Golden Gate hotel. My recent stay might just have been my last. The breakfast service was terrible. Breakfast starts at 7.30 until 10h30. We got there at 9 as did many other people. We had to ask for everything, including coffee cups, bacon, eggs, toast....absolutely everything. To top it off, breakfast costs R 220 per person. Come on guys, this was terrible

Golden Gate Highlands National Park exceeded my expectations! The Maluti mountains are spectacular. A drive along Blesbok loop delivered amazing views! What a treat to see black wildebeest. The accommodation was comfortable with amazing views (Room 17). Staff were most hospitable, with a warm welcome from Mbali and Veronica! Thank you for the great stay and experience!

Lovely place and the views from the restaurant were incredible. Food was delicious

Absolutely beautiful, beautiful, magnificent views. Loved the hike just behind the hotel. Pleasing service, polite staff.....BUT.... breakfast .... glad it was included in our deal.... would have been horrified if we had paid extra for the breakfast. Staff not trained on how to present a good breakfast. Very average meal. Rooms clean but need re doing. Sad.

Great location, it is suitable for those who love hiking. The chalets are not modern but are suitable for a getaway vacation. We had the buffet and food was okay, tiramisu was gooey and starchy and venison was tough. Bar lounge had amazing views but slow service. I would recommend self catering at the chalets if staying there for the hikes.

What a great location. Beautiful landscapes and so many trails to choose from. Food was tasty but they serve the same buffet menu every day.
