A good 1st stop for our Saturday afternoon in Dublin. Friendly staff gave us 10% off for entry and we got a photo souvenir and a Batman logo magnet upon departure. Recommend a visit...not far from Ashton Quay... Dublin castle 🏰 a short walk too...

Brilliant tour with real life like wax models, starts with a mirrored corridor which is fun and great horror section but also gives a child friendly version by the enchanted route

Not great! Especially compared to other waxworks I've visited in London and Europe. Lovely staff. Tried to be helpful, without being pushy.

I have to say it was my first time to go to the National Wax Museum and it won't be my last. What an experience from start to finish. There is so much to see and so much to learn. The figures are amazing. The highlight for me was the basement the Irish war part and the horror section. I wouldn't be into horror usually but such a good laugh. I brought my 11 year old nephew and he loved it. Maybe the horror part be better of skipped for children 8 and younger depending on the child but by all means the children would love everything else at any age. I love how they have audio information for parts of the meusum. Highly recommend this as a day out. 10/10 and the customer service was perfect too.

Went on a whim while in Dublin (on the Hop On/Off buses!) and gotta say... it was really fun! Great mix of Irish history and just fun characters. We went around Halloween which was fantastic... got a great haunted house experience too! Glad we went and would recommend if you're in Dublin looking for something fun and different to do.

Very nice museum and really nice staff. My daughter was scared the entire visit. There are very interesting facts to read in the first part of the visit and also another part with history of Ireland, very interesting. I would love to see some more areas for kids as there is only one room with cartoons and movie characters. The Mirror maze is funny! It’s also very well located in city center and plenty of public transport to get there

Great location and wonderful exhibit! Front desk person (Turkish or Eastern European) wasn’t very polite - my impression is it was a racial thing seeing how he was very friendly with others. Strikes me as a bit funny given how he himself is very obviously not Irish and could barely speak English. Lovely experience otherwise but I wish management would hire polite front desk employees - I’m spending tourist dollars here - least I expect is basic manners and English from your front desk staff.

Visited today with my daughter, the lady on reception I think her name was Imelda she was so lovely and friendly. We both had lots of fun my daughter loved all the Irish history part as she is studying that in school. On the way out she got a wax model of her hand and the lady that done was was so friendly and nice. Excellent visit today. Thank you.

Very interesting place. The figures are not made 100% realistic but the layout is great and quite interactive. The spooky hotel was a good one! Recommend to those visiting Dublin

Our visit to the Wax Museum in Dublin was a unique and enjoyable experience that offered a twist on traditional wax museums. What set this museum apart was its blend of entertainment, education, and a touch of science and technology. Inside, we encountered a diverse array of wax figurines, some of which were instantly recognizable celebrities, while others were intriguing discoveries. Although the realism of the figurines varied, they still provided great photo opportunities and added to the overall fun. The fact that some were animatronic added an exciting element to the visit, making the figures come to life in a way we hadn't expected. One of the highlights was braving the horror walk, a spine-tingling experience that had me holding onto my boyfriend's hand for dear life. It was genuinely scary but undeniably a lot of fun, and we couldn't help but laugh at our own reactions afterward. If you happen to have the Go City Pass, as we did, I would definitely recommend including the Wax Museum in your itinerary. It's a delightful blend of entertainment and a touch of the unexpected, making it a worthwhile stop for a unique Dublin experience.

The actual museum was incredible, especially with such a wide variety of individuals featured and discussed. The overall themes were detailed with information provided on each person. They have a horror scene in the basement. It is a very encompassing experience with the full range of smells, blood, gore, and scare/thrill. Just be warned that it is EXTREMELY intense; if you choose to do it, just be prepared. They even have a cute gift shop at the end!

Lots of irish notables to look at. Loved the hall of mirrors. The Easter rising I enjoyed. There were a few vikings. The northern Ireland treaty. Some singers, elvis, phillo, Bowie etc a nice pub scene with all our glorious writers. Got a photo with my hero W.B Yeats :) a fairytale section but my favourite was the horror walk. I was on my own and the people in front of me were gone through so I had it to myself. The mind is a wonderful thing lol I genuinely felt nervous at times. So if you like that kind of thing you'll enjoy it. Bit pricey at almost 17 euro but it was a good way to kill time while I was waiting on someone. I'd go again just to be scared. There were little kids following on in the horror section and I personally wouldn't have let them in there but that's just a personal opinion and it's none of my business what parents show their kids 8/10

We went, the family rated it neat and cool. It has many photo op places, has history, science, a mirror maze, a horror section, and a neon like section - Tir Na Nog. Overall it was enjoyable. Good to check out with a family You should buy your tickets ahead of time.

It was okay, we purchased tickets on groupon so it only cost us around £11 each for a ticket. Characters are dated and a lot of younger visitors wouldn't really know who they were looking at etc. I personally wouldn't go again if I was to return to Dublin but if your visiting the city and have 30 minutes to waste then pop in.

Some of the wax figures are quite lifelike, Father Ted and Dougal in particular. Kids weren't fans of haunted hotel; I'd recommend small children avoid this area. Irish history was interesting and educational. The national wax museum is a great attraction in Dublins city centre to kill a bit of time. Staff are welcoming and friendly which is important with any business. I'd definitely recommend a visit.

We had two hours to spare and it wasn’t busy when we got there so we did the tour in an hour and a half. It was fun and there was a wide variety of displays covering icons, animation characters and a brief history of Ireland. At the end we made a wax model of our hand for an additional cost but a great souvenir for the day. I was worried my son wouldn’t recognise enough to enjoy it but there was enough to suit his age. There were stairs to climb up and down and I’m not sure if an alternative was available so if mobility/stairs are an issue, you’d need to check first. Overall we enjoyed our visit but you couldn’t spend the whole day here. You would want to combine it with another activity in the day to really appreciate it. I did buy the tickets in advance but on our visit there was no need to. Staff were very nice. They offered to take a photo for an additional charge as well but we’re not pushy when we turned them down for this. Other than our souvenir hand, we did not buy anything from the gift shop on this occasion, although we did get a small prize from a vending machine game.

Nice experience, mostly random characters: batman, harry potter, david bowie, james bond, the pope etc... but there was some Ireland related figures. All wax statues were really nice quality. A bit expensive for whats inside but the other attractions (mirror maze, picture stand, etc...) made up for it.

  • 2/5 Emre B. 1 year ago on Google
I’ve been to 3-4 wax museums in my life and this one was the worst among them, not many statues and most of them dont even look like the real version. I wouldn’t go if the time is limited there are many places to see in Dublin which would be a better experience

  • 5/5 John M. 1 year ago on Google
Really good, the kids absolutely loved it, especially the mirror maze. The scary tunnel bit was really good too. Highly recommended and not overly expensive.

We enjoyed our visit to the wax museum although we were disappointed that the lift was out of order and we weren't told when we turned up. My aunt wasn't able to join us in the basement part of the tour which was disappointing.

Interesting if you have time to spare. Not the best of the wax museums I've been, but the lore explained here, the spooky hall and the mirror maze makes the best of this place

  • 5/5 Kourtney C. 1 year ago on Google
This was a lot of fun. It starts with an educational area with a bunch of small things to play/interact with. You then go through a mirror maze and end up in a room with some classic celebrities. It’s a lot of fun posing with the wax figures and the horror area was better/ more realistic than most haunted houses

  • 5/5 Lukasz G. 1 year ago on Google
Great place to have some fun 😀 it was absolutely stunning ..it has 3 floors for you to explore. You can take as much time as you like , make sure you don't rush it 😉 at the end you can make your own Wax Hand 💯

Lots of fun and some historical and scientific education for kids and parents. Wax figures are a must photo op. Get amazed by the mirror labyrinth.

Great place to visit. Some of the wax works look too real and start to freak you out,I wouldn't recommend bringing young kids through the scary part of the tour, because they will enfmd upcoming ir having nightmares, but for adults I would definitely recommend, especially if you like a jump scare, overall I definitely would recommend for a family trip,it only takes a hour to walk around museum,50e for a family of three(3)

Wax museum in Dublin I hadn't seen any post about it And i think it is not appreciated enough. My teens really loved it. The are science room with a lot of displays and explanations, scary room with all classic bad guys end more.

  • 5/5 Ibya B. 8 months ago on Google
Towards the end of the parcours you can choose to go inside the scary part and it leads back to the last point of the parcours which is about irish myths. Good wax museum with a good range : history, superheros, artists, politicians, cartoons, horror, etc.

Pretty cool place, but a little creepy if you ask me. The staff was nice, and the hand wax station was cool.

  • 3/5 Karolina W. 6 months ago on Google
Feels a bit cramped. Nice variety of figures. The haunted hotel part was a bit too scary for ten year old so I can’t comment on that

  • 3/5 Kitty B. 4 months ago on Google • 5 reviews
An odd experience - half the museum is great, new, looked after - the history and fairytale portions are amazing! But that’s the second half of their path through the museum. In the first half, it’s oddly careless - buttons that don’t work/do nothing, a wheelchair lift loaded with trash bags in their waxworks room in the middle of a busy Saturday, and a claustrophic room of elderly waxworks all shoved in tight together. It’s a shame the tour starts with the bad and ends with the good.

  • 3/5 Rainer S. 3 years ago on Google
(Translated by Google) With the exception of Pope Francis, the exhibits were not as detailed as one is used to from Madame Tussauds, but the price-performance ratio is okay. It was entertaining. Especially the horror hotel in the basement. There is a lot for children to try out. Very friendly staff. Sehr freundliches Personal.

I've been to this modern wax museum about several times and it's a brilliant museum. It has an excellent experience as well. It is home of hundreds of wax version of famous people such as Dermot Morgan, Jedward, James Joyce, Elvis, Michael Jackson and Conor McGregor. I remember there was used to be a wax museum in Granby Row Dublin 1 (close to Parnell Square on the north side of the city). it was opened in 1983 by the Lord Mayor of Dublin and it was an exciting new addition to the city. In the past, it was a former site to prayer rooms converted into a cinema called Plaza Cinema and then into a waxworks, but this building was demolished to make way for a hotel. They had to shut down in 2005 and it is now Maldron Hotel Parnell Square after its demolition. Four years later in 2009, the museum which at this time had changed its name to Wax Museum Plus found its new location in 4 Fosters Place, Temple Bar. Seven years later in December 2016, the Foster's Place Location was sold to The Irish Stock Exchange and the Wax Museum would then be relocated to the Lafayette Building in the centre of Dublin, more specifically 22–25 Westmoreland Street.

Great for the kids to see their hero's and characters. Interesting learning about older Irish histotic figures.

  • 3/5 Anna 3 years ago on Google
It was fun but really small unfortunatel. They had star wars characters were all cramped a dark corner with some unrelated people to the movies. Same for musicians that were standing close to eachother by an opposit wall, couldn't even take a picture with ones at the back. I felt a bit like I was in a storage room there. I liked the snow white mirror and Harry Potter room.

  • 5/5 Shahidul H. 4 years ago on Google
One of best and fun museums in Dublin city as well as in Ireland. The upper stage seems ok. Special selection is the mirror reflection. You can take your photo in three mirrors. One photo with three of yourself! Nice watch collection at the stairs and down floor is the real gem. Horror collections. You will get afriad, really afraid. But real fun, no doubt about it. Loving place indeed. Only one cons - bit expensive when you go with friends and pay together for all. :-)

  • 5/5 Ryan S. 5 years ago on Google
If you're looking to learn more about famous people from Ireland and others from around the world then stop by The National Wax Museum Plus. The wax figures are very lifelike and they have plenty of them - 4 floors! The bar and the basement were my favorite areas. There are restrooms in the basement and a service elevator to get you to each floor except the bar. The bar has a smaller elevator, so you won't miss anything! Bring your camera and some props because you'll want to look great standing next to your friends and foes. Have fun!

It was nice. Wax models was interesting and unique. I would have liked a tour guide though and they would maybe try and make it a bit more interactive. Also try and incorporating some special effects.

  • 5/5 DarkerDevotee OLD C. 4 years ago on Google
Amazing place. So much better than I was expecting. Just a note, I haven't ever been to madame tussauds or anything like that, so I don't know if It lives up to those expectations. There was plenty to see, each floor having its own theme. The first part of the place is some strange science thing, it kinda felt out of place, as there's no wax modles, but it was still cool. But then you go to the next area, where it all properly begins, with so many different famous faces. All very accessible to take crazy photos with. Place has a cool historical area where it gives info about pirates, vikings, World war, political history. Then to top it off all you can get a few jumpscares in the horror section and then feeling nice, calm and happy again in a fairytale world before leaving. Definitely recommend to pass and hour or so.
