Spent a week in Dublin then a week in Belfast. Superb people the Irish and good banter. Went to this establishment 4 times during the week after 2am (alone) with no issues. Then on my last night I rocked up with 4 black Derry Uni girls (not drunk at all) at 1am on a Monday and we weren’t let in. I’m a grown man of colour, to see young people of colour pursuing dreams in a predominantly white society made me proud. I told them that we could go to your establishment because I’ve been in there for the past 4 days and that they could easily make new friends because the crowd was their age group. I would leave after 1 drink. Unfortunately we got refused entry at the door. Upon asking the security why, he told us that they weren’t letting people in after 1am and that they were closing. We pleaded but to no avail. So we waited for a taxi and stood not too far away from your entrance but saw that every other person that came to the door was let in (I have videos with time caps). I’m not a person to be phased by race chartered issues because I know who I am and I am a successful and confident person but I felt that we weren’t let in because of who we were! Everyone let in was white (two in groups as big as ours). It made me feel bad about myself for trying to get these young girls to have a good time and probably make friends. I’ve worked all over the world and it takes an incident as such to ruin an image someone has on people or a place. Not that you guys probably care or would get cancelled but that was a very bad experience for the 7 black people trying to just have a fun night. Maybe you guys thought we were trouble? Maybe those other white people let in were cleaners to clean when the club shut? Don’t be scared. Fear creates a lot of damage! Anyways, just thought I share something that ruined my last night in Dublin! The guy that didn’t let us in is in the pic. 2 other guys said we could go in but he disagreed! Maybe he was haven’t a bad day but he definitely ruined ours. I know for a fact that you guys stayed open till 3am that night because my Danish friend walked out of there at 3am! The amazing bar staff and the beautiful people that pick the glasses etc are an asset to your establishment. If not for this one unfortunate incident, I’d had no problems. Thank you for the the other 4 great nights. 0⭐️ for security guy the 5 ⭐️ is for the other staff.

I’ve been in the club multiple times pre pandemic and absolutely loved the serving staff and vibe everything was good now post pandemic I’ve been once and today was the second time the bouncer refused entry and harassed my friend very obnoxious and rude. We asked politely while waited in queue and the bouncer served others and when we asked the reason behind why they said “we don’t like you don’t ever comeback again we will never let you in” I said we don’t want any trouble man and left just before that they laughed at us leaving sad to see one of my favorite pubs ruined by obnoxious bouncers. Don’t recommend it to anyone anymore.

I was regular before covid, I went last night with my friends that where visiting town and the bouncer didn’t let us in, because one of my friend was “wearing tracksuit” which he wasn’t , just were a different material than jeans and loose. Honestly it is a big disappointment, as one of the things that I enjoyed more of the place was its diversity including clothes. It was an argument about what are tracksuit and they even ask my friend to show the superior part of the e trouser, frankly humiliating experience.

I've always loved coming here but last night shortly after having kissed a girl, me and my friends were all kicked out by a male member of staff who said that we weren't barred but refused to tell us why we had to leave, saying only that we were "pointed out by a member of staff". I can only assume that it was motivated by homophobia and I'm very upset because I always thought that workman's was a safe space for LGBTQ+ people :((

Very relaxing place, no standing on ceremony here. Very well run place, anybody and everybody would feel comfortable here. Went to a gig here, lovely space, intimate music experience. They have a mix, arthouse, just a good welcoming pub and I believe a nightclub experience.

This place used to be kind of cool with the only problem being the bouncers which didn't appear to be fair, professional, clear or even with some working neurons in the head. Now that problem is still there plus the place lost the appeal it use to have. I found it more dirty, old, with random people and random music. Looked like a community center. I would start by retraining the guys at the entrance to make a better selection and refurbish the place a bit. Good luck!

The comedy nights at this venue are an absolute blast! The atmosphere is lively and the comedy acts are top-notch, leaving the audience in stitches. The venue itself is charming, offering a great setting for a night out. The staff is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. Highly recommend this spot for a fun-filled evening!

Nice Club, with nice people and music! Prices are Dublin like… Employees are doing there duty and care about every guest. Security ensure a safe and sound environment to party in. Highly recommend a visit! Only thing: You should not vape or smoke indoors as it is not tolerated and you’ll be out without warning! I’ve misunderstood and learned my lesson 😅 but no doubt it’s fairly played due to the high risk involved with fire and all this stuff. Hand up for Safety first 😇 Keep up the good job guys! Will definitely pop over again soooOOn 🤪

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. When I arrived the doorman let me in but stopped my partner, asking her what she wanted from the place before she entered. We laughed it off but soon realised that the doormen were being entirely serious, and came in to what was easily the worst pub/bar/club experience I have ever had. I was ignored by staff at the bar in favour of more obnoxious men and more attractive women. I waited patiently for 20 minutes, and any time I tried to catch the barmans attention he snapped at asking me to wait to be served, until I raised my voice asking for a pint and he told me to talk to someone else. My partner and I left shortly after. Bad service, will not return and would not recommend to anyone. Definitely a young persons bar who aren't interested in catering to anyone above 22.

Think of the Beatles in the cellular where they started and you will find this place a more modern version of it. A very comfortable place to listen to your type of music and comedy. I really enjoyed myself there.

We went to a concert here. Loved it, but the staff (specially at the entrance) were quite rude to us when we asked some questions about the event.

The staff was very rude to us, I understand that it's a difficult time but you can't treat customers like they treated us.

Ran into the place on a Tuesday evening. Wasn’t very full but nicely packed, prices were good and the alternative vibes great. This evening there were mostly young people (guess just 18 year olds) some of them a bit high of themselves but mostly friendly looking. Lady at the bar got quite annoyed when we asked about the prices of the drinks, maybe they just want to hang the full menu?

Went here after a few drinks at Porterhouse on a Friday evening. There was a long line at around 11pm. We went through the other bars entrance (just the one beside it) as we didn’t want to queue but surprisingly we ended up at workman’s club via the second floor door haha! It’s a great place to enjoy drinks and dance. It’s more like a club I think when it’s late in the evening. I love their music. It was like disco punk, feels so 80s to me but sometimes feels like house too. The crowd are mostly young people I think but who cares. I like that you can dance and no one bothers you :) their Jameson with ginger and lime is good and you can get it for 6 euros. I would no doubt come back here

Great environment but bouncers are on a complete power trip and treat the men and women in the club very differently. I enjoy the club however the level of double standard towards women is very off putting. Doesn’t feel like a safe environment for young women:

Not a great experience. When we got there we went into the main "dance" area downstairs and the live musician was not doing anything so there was no music at all. Went upstairs hoping for a better atmosphere and was greeted with a very weirdly laid out room. Drinks were expensive enough. Only good part was the smoking area which is where all the action seems to be.

Everyone who has regularly visited Workman's knows that it's just not good anymore. It seems to have become comfortable in it's niche of being one of the only places for "alternative" crowds. Bouncers are 50/50, some are very nice and others not so much. The crowd is YOUNG, like nobody seems to be over 21, which is fine but just a disclaimer. Drinks are quite pricey and the Guinness is terrible. Live DJs can be ok. Overall it has just lost it's spark as the cool spot in town. I'd recommend wigwam instead

Not for me. Could talk much with friends or enjoy our space. Was really crowded, if I knew was a club I wouldn't have gone. Good music and good for dancing and young people. The 2 stars does not mean is a bad place, just not what I wanted for the day.

Have never been downstairs before. What a lovely venue, so cosy and lovingly decorated. Even the bathrooms are pretty. There's some 'Berlin in 20s' feeling to the place

The music is only good and young during the week. The weekends do not pass the vibe check. If you are between 18-25 go during the week because in the weekends it's really boring and full of older people. Also, my ears hurt, it would be lovely to put the music a bit down so i can speak to my friends in a normal tone of voice and for the DJ to be more polite when rejecting a song petition.

Had a lovely evening here by happenstance. We were in Dublin on a 2 day visit, went here Sunday night. Walked up the quays for a drink. Door supervisor was very friendly and let us know that there was a show on. We went upstairs instead but it was quiet at that stage. So ended up at the downstairs show, which was a Drag comedy show. We had a brilliant night. And everyone we chatted with were super friendly.

The place itself was fine but the bouncers were nothing but rude and aggressive to me and my friends. It’s an unsafe environment and I’d recommend a change in decorum for all security present, not the first time this has happened.

Great atmosphere and lovely staff. The drinks were good but not such a great variety to choose from. It's a pity that they don't serve food or at least some kind of snacks. Otherwise nothing wrong about the place.

May god bless The Reverend Tony Bones for blasting our ears with some insanely enjoyable music for 4 hours straight. Had to take the entire day after to recover but still thinking about this memory as one of the best night of my life. Thanks Workman’s Club for this. Thanks Tony. I hope Nora is doing fine. Godspeed, me lads.

Went to see a gig that I'd bought a ticket for and was sent to the wrong part of the building by the bouncer. There was then a guy taking tickets and I showed him the ticket on my phone and he further ushered me into the wrong space. Got to see less than half of the gig I'd paid for in the end. Conversely, the parents of the singer songwriter I had watched had found their way to the gig I was meant to be at... An easy fix — tickets etc. should clearly state the part of the venue being used, and staff should be really careful with checking tickets. And daft punters like me should make sure they're in the right place...!

Of the various music venues that comprise the Workman's, the basement is the most interesting and intimate. Small stage, capacity of about 120. Lots of nooks and crannies and an efficient large bar, so fast drink service. Hosts emerging Irish bands such as Girlfriend. Sound quality can vary.

Was taken here on my first night in Dublin by a local I met. So happy he brought us here. I had so much fun dancing. Everyone was so kind and accepting. I felt like I could dance like no one was watching! I can’t wait for my next trip to Ireland to revisit ❤️

Pleasant welcoming spaces within an old building Quirky narrow stairs, and a combination of Buffalo Bar with three or more DJ areas, plus a seperate ballroom area, and an outdoor area atop the ballroom provides ample adult 'playground'. Adequate efficient cordial security ensure a safe night for all. A/C in ballroom! (Posh or what)

It was good for a night out that is not too wild. I went to the comedy show. It was OK overall. Worth the 15e per ticket. My one thing was the bar upstairs. There was one bar man for a while. A second one showed up but it took awhile to get a drink.

I was looking for a place one weeknight to grab a drink and listen to some live music, preferably on a rooftop. This place appeared on the map and so I went. It's upstairs but not actually outside as I expected. They have a few cocktails but I didn't see anyone playing music. The crowd seems to be mostly students. Not a bad place, but not what I expected.

  • 4/5 seanino909 7 months ago on Google
Really big cool venue with lots of different rooms so you don't get bored too quickly. Good drinks deals too. We all ended up drinking the Havana special which is basically rum and ginger ale. Trust me, it works :) Looks like it would be a good music venue when there is someone playing. Kinda reminds me of Whelans but with a Berlin twist as someone already mentioned. Doesn't get 5 star as the door staff can be a bit in your face even after getting inside the venue. Have not been there in a while though so maybe this has hopefully changed.

Pints on the bar downstairs were very cold and I loved it. Unfortunately no food is serviced there (I didn’t check the bar upstairs), so if you are going to a concert there eat something before you go.

Went to the worksman several times, it is always a fun spot to be in at night after some drinks to dance in a chilled atmosphere and satisfy anyone in a big group: entrance is free & almost everyone welcome, there are 2 different music spots and 3 bars with honest prices at this moment of the night.

Obnoxious bouncer James and "management". We were barred from all 4 ticket holding customers entering for ONE of us holding a beer in the line. None of us were drunk and we were a group of girls, hardly threatening. We are regulars at the bar. Bouncer and management were on a power trip and just looking for a high by turning us away. Paid 35 euro for tickets that they said meant nothing. Extremely rude.

Nice place. Feels like a house party with different styles of music in different rooms. You should also check out the rooftop and the basement. I went here on Saturday, and only pity was that the music stopped around 2am. There was no entrance fee, but there can be a line at the door.
