Had a lovely dinner at Boxty House and food was great. Nice portions and lovely presentation. The cheesecake was a tiny bit disappointing because we could not taste Baileys at all and chocolate sauce tasted a bit like cocoa powder. Cocktails were very tasty but I think a bit overpriced. I suppose the whole place is priced according to location (Temple Bar) All in all it was a nice experience. Staff is very friendly, that's a bonus.

Amazed by the taste of the 3 dumplings platter: Lamb Stew, Braised Beef and Stout, and Dublin Coddle. Really suggested. The 3 kinds of breads they comes with were incredibly tasty and good too. Also, being not a sweet tooth person I got pretty impressed by the taste of the bread and butter pudding. Light, good, and well balanced in taste. Turkey was good too. The waiter we had was very friendly and available with us!

We were located in the basement, in a very warm room. I am still wondering why they did not switch on the air conditioning. Food wise, I didn't choose well, don't go for the chowder or the fish and chips. Chowder is tasteless and for the first time in my life I had to add salt to it. I have no idea how you can find seafood as bad, but somehow they managed to do so. Fish and chips are not good, with a super tick bread on the fish, and way too oily. The salmon looks good, so go for it if you have the chance. Desserts were the best, and still I wouldn't go for them. Service was nice but slow and overwhelmed. With the money they charge for the food, I was expecting way better and faster service. We had to request several times for water, and napkins. Not great, but still their effort is appreciated because it's not their fault. The bathrooms... Well, judge for yourself, but basically I had to go to another place because they are basically dirty. In short, a place a won't visit again; overpriced to the extreme and with lack of staff.

Great service from David. He was so welcoming and helpful. My husband loved the fish and chips. I really enjoyed the Boxty Eggs Benedict. I was expecting the Boxty to be more like a latke with shredded potatoes, but it was ground potato flour making it closer to a traditional pancake texture.

The spicy carrots, which are listed as a side dish make for an excellent starter, and are truly delicious. The Beef & Stout was lovely, and came with mashed potato and 3 different types of bread. Unfortunately, no-one told me what kinds of bread they were, and I didn't have the heart to ask the staff who were being kept very busy, as every table was full. I've had better bread, but the rest of the main dish was great. Worth going just for the carrots.

Over rated and overpriced. Food is average and edible. The chicken boxty was decent and the lamb stew was average. The baileys cheesecake was very sour and was not flavourful. Service is poor - On observation, except for the senior servers, the rest are just plain ignorant and some extremely rude. Snatching away drinks at the exit when one of your servers said its okay to do so, is NOT OKAY. Not to mention, I asked for a to-go cup and I was told you guys don't have one. It could have been said in a polite way as we had just paid for the dinner. Instead of saying ' thank you for visiting us', that's how they treat their customers once they have gotten their money. Not a homely feeling at all! The senior servers are actually making an effort but unfortunately the overall experience for me and my mother was not a good one. Verdict - I would recommend to have your Irish meal, with a pint or two, somewhere else!

A great place to have lunch at, really tasty food, reasonable pricing, quick service and friendly staff. The menu is one of the best I've seen, there are not too many dishes, but there's something for everyone. It was a bit crowded when we visited, and there were no tables available, but it certainly was worth the wait.

Conveniently located and very hearty food. Our server was so friendly and helpful, which already put us in a great mood. He did a great job pushing the Boxty fries--which, I have to be honest, I was skeptical about at first, but wow am I glad we followed his advice. The stews and the steak were great but the fries are what I would definitely go back for! Also, if you are a beer-lover, get their house lager (Jack Smyth).

Enjoyed brunch at this restaurant today. Had a flight of beers which was pretty good, but a bit pricey (€12 for 4 glasses, 1/3 pint each). Got the fries which were REALLY good (kind of had a similar flavor to carnival food, in a good way). Got the lamb stew which was pretty good and my wife got the vegetarian Boxty potatoe pancake, sort of burrito style with beans and such inside. I tried it and didn't like it, but she enjoyed it. Overall a pretty nice brunch.

"The best memories are made around the table" Though I ate here alone, the main person at the front of the house certainly made my meal here memorable. Fun.. lively... And oh yes the food is lovely, though a tad heavy but that's Irish food! Lovely selection of home brews. Highly recommended 😊

I decided to give Boxty ago which is the heart of Temple Bar. We want to try here as both my son and I are Celiac which they cater for. The fish & chips were great. We also tried some Boxty chips which were really tasty. My wife had the seafood chowder which she said was delicious. It's a little bit on the expensive side but you are in the heart of Temple Bar. Blood Mary's were delish. Definitely worth checking out

Great atmosphere, friendly staff available to assist and some traditional options available to try. Had the main and salad deal with the Irish lamb stew. The Boxty Fish & Chips was very good as well. The Jack Smyth stout and red ale were delicious as well. Irish coffee to finish off, which was lovely. Give it a try!

Lovely atmosphere, unique dishes and good choice of gluten free options. Wait staff were very charming and hospitable. Large windows to the street so good if you like people watching, but not great for shy diners! Especially recommend the boxty bread ice cream, it was delicious

Great Irish restaurant with authentic Irish foods. Ordered the Irish breakfast and eggs benedict.... Hash brown was super crispy, eggs were perfect over medium, and breakfast sausage was good..Make reservations online. 5 star food but we waited almost 35 minutes for our breakfast. And they ran out of traditional sausage.

Great traditional Irish food. It’s heavy and the portions are ample, so beware. I had the 3 stew platter and couldn’t quite finish. Definitely try the stout bread. The waiter was lovely and the place is cozy.

So much potato Had the traditional fries and was incredible as well as a huge portion. The potato pancakes were just as good as the beer they served. Service was phenomenal too. Will be recommending to everyone

Easily, the best dining experience in Ireland, and if I could pick a single restaurant that is a must visit for Ireland, it would be The Boxty House. We did a tour of Ireland by renting a car, and heading to all the can't miss restaurants and pubs based on blogs and reviews. Most of it was, I would classify, as meeting expectations, but The Boxty House was the only one to exceed them. The staff was fabulous, the space very intimate, the menu had so many specialties that no other place we went to had. In fact, it had the broadest selection of traditional Irish food from any place that we've been. The presentation was beautiful, the flavors and textures superb, the prices reasonable. This was the only dinner we had, where we decided to come back for dinner the following day. A can't miss experience, and plan to come here with a group, or several times, to try everything on the menu.

I visited for lunch and had a great experience. The food was outstanding, especially if you're a potato fan. The service and atmosphere were also excellent. The lunch prices are especially fair. It's a little pricier for dinner.

Friendly and informative staff. Right on the main drag. This is heavy and indulgent but yummy! If you’re looking for pub style food this is certainly a unique take. The server provided adequate recommendations. My favorite was definitely the twice fried chips! This is not gourmet and it does feel a bit greasy but if that’s your speed then you’ll definitely enjoy this. All around, not my favorite experience but a notable one for sure.

Typical west Irish food! Think about potatoes’ pancakes ! Those are the typical and special house dishes. Food quality is good, portions are generous and service is good. We had as starter the three potatoes, that comes with garlic sauce, which was exquisite! As main disc he’s we had the corned beef and the mushroom dumpling. Also find attached one picture about “boxty” definition! Would come back!

We ended up here because of Somebody Feed Phil’s Dublin episode. Arrived at 7:15pm on a Friday and only waited a short time. Sat at a table in the bar and had excellent service from Michael. We shared the Boxty Platter and Fish & Chips. The Boxty platter highlights were 100% the Boxty fries and the dumplings. The fish & chips platter was HUGE!! Definitely shareable. The chips were disappointing after the incredible shoestring fries from earlier. But regardless, an incredible meal in a super cozy tavern pub. Would recommend.

It’s a great Irish restaurant with Potato crepe (boxty). Beer stew was good and it came with a lot of mashed potato! Lamb boxty was solid and amazing flavor. Stuffs there were super friendly and I had a really good time.

Great place. The food was so good and portions really large. I really loved their stews and the bread that came with it (really, the bread was outstanding). The service was also great, so chatty and nice and friendly.

Ordered the 2-part stew (lamb and coddle). Lamb was absolutely AMAZING! I had asked our waiter for recommendation between lamb and the beef and was so happy I took the recommendation. I would not normally order lamb. Wanted to try the traditional Irish coddle, it was good, but I filled up on the lamb so didn’t have much appetite left for the coddle. Accompany bread was delicious. Atmosphere is great, our water was very kind, provided some ideas of things to see while in town. They were very accommodating to our 3 y.o. and baby. I highly recommend eating here, and will return again next time we visit!

Very good traditional Irish food! I had the Dumpling Platter with the Irish Lamb and Braised Beef stews, while my friend had the Corned Beef Boxty. The stews were good, but the Corned Beef Boxty was, in my opinion, the real winner in terms of flavor. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, but I would recommend asking for chairs with backs on them instead of the bar stools. We went around 3pm on a weekday and had the room to ourselves.

Was looking for some traditional Irish fare near my hotel on my last night. This place fit the bill! Had the Beef & Stout and it was really delicious. Great flavors and tender beef. The mash potatoes and bread that came with it were also really good. Service was quick and friendly. I definitely recommend!

Absolutely loved it here. We were aimlessly wandering the streets looking for something other than just a burger or the regular pub fare when the welcoming lights of Gallagher's Boxty House beckoned us in. We shared a lovely warming bowl of leek and potato soup with two hearty slices of soda bread, and for mains ordered the fish and chips and boxty dumplings and corned beef. The portions were even for hungry souls more than sufficient. Everything expertly cooked and presented. Our meal came to €44 euro which for two people at such a nice place in Dublin is more than reasonable. We will almost certainly be coming back!

Absolute the best meal I've had in Dublin! Why did I wait till my last week to come here. Idiots tell you not to come to Temple to party and eat. They are idiots, everyone is here because the food is great and the pubs are great! Antisocial people do not give the best tour advice. Cheers!

Stopped in during peak dinner hour on a Friday night and they were able to fit us in without reservations. We both got the Gaelic Boxty and it was so so delicious! Steak was tender, well-flavored and cooked as ordered, and my husband stated they had the best mushrooms he’s ever had (and he’s not a big mushroom fan). Recommend.

Came here because of Netflix “somebody feed phil” still not entirely sure what a Boxty is or if we had one but the food was good. We ordered the boxty sample platter which included bruschetta, boxty fries and dumplings. All were very good but the description was lacking and I suppose we should have asked more questions before ordering. (I assumed it would be a variety of boxty with different toppings and it was not). The boxty fries were delicious tho! The kale & cabbage colcannon was almost entirely potato and kind of bland. Tried the house stout and a gin cocktail that was very good (the flora dura). Service was satisfactory and staff was friendly.

👍👍 Came here looking for a traditional Irish breakfast for brunch. After I couldn’t find that on the menu, I spurred my nerve to ask for fear of being too American and explored the menu. It’s a very tight menu but everything looked wonderful. I ended up going with the charred chicken toasties, and bril...
