    The service was excellent, and covid regulations are adhered to. I loved the platter too it was delicious 😍 would definitely go there again.

    This is my worst experience at any Ocean Basket. Our plates were dirty. Our halloumi started, which we sent back, had some weird gray stuff on it. The sides arrived after our meal. While the food tasted great, the presentation was not great - I've never seen such tiny calamari rings in my life. I'd hate to know how bad it can get since tonight there were only 4 tables to serve. Even though the manager said she'd not charge for the halloumi, she did anyway. Whoever owns this franchise needs to take a serious look at what is going on in their business.

    Second time here and I have experience bad service both times and it wasn't busy either time. This time some of the food namely the prawns and mussels were not cooked properly. To top it all off the manager just sits behind the counter watching funny videos that you can here from across the room and laughs. Photo attached shows uncooked prawn tale. They did at least bring out new food when it was pointed out when they eventually came back to our table.

    Nice experience here in East London and absolutely worth it checking out. The service is very nice and kind and the food was really good 👍 also the atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant and you can spent some good time there.

    Staff are friendly. I ordered a prawns and calamari and chips, my partner a platter for one and my son a calamari and chips. No complaints with their meals. Mine in the other hand .... My chips tasted funny, they brought a fresh batch, which also tasted funny ... Maybe burnt oil or something.. They did try fix this by offering a salad or rice, but by then I just wanted to eat and go.... Other wise, I would have given more stars, but it won't stop me from eating there again.

    Wow, where to start... Ordered fish and chips (Mr D) with creamy lemon sauce. No creamy lemon sauce arrived. Deliberately did not order cutlery (plastic!). Arrived with cutlery in a sealed plastic packet including tomato sauce. Tomato sauce sachet had popped, was all over the napkin and cutlery and was properly rancid. My wife's meal came with a small stone (quartz to be precise lol).

    Went for a late lunch today. Took a while for the condiments to arrive and then the waitress forgot the plates 🙈 Waited a while for our meal. Our food was sitting on the counter for a while. We could see it from where we were seated. Waitress brought it to us and it was coldish. I asked for it to be reheated. Not much of a difference when it came back. When she brought my food and my daughter's we were informed they didn't have what my husband ordered. Needless to say he was extremely disappointed. We ended up letting my daughter finish her meal and left with mine as a takeaway. My husband did not want to order something else because he was extremely upset. They should have informed us they were out of stock and he could have ordered something else instead of waiting until they brought out our meals. Not very impressed with the service today😳...

    What a sad state of affairs, the food was terrible the prawns were over cooked and like rubber, the fish was over cooked and dry, the sauce on the prawns had a funny synthetic taste to it and everything was cold when it arrived at the table. There were only three other tables with people, so the restaurant was not too busy to cope. We won't be returning again. The waitress was friendly.

    Very good food and very good service from the waiter but upon arrival the other waiter wanted to sit us on a dirty table that still had dirty plates and empty cans on it while there were multiple unoccupied tables and after a 2 minute argument he finally offered us another table. All this happened while the hostess was also trying to convince him to let us take another table. I guess he was jus having a moment 🤣🤣🤣!

    Not good at all, got there at 11:00 as they only open at this time and have found, to my disappointment, how dirty the floors and tables were. Worst of all was the “bread rolls” - these looked (and tasted) like 2 week old pieces of dough that was slapped with flour after being stepped on and kicked around the floor. The waiter (bless his soul) was very embarrassed when he had to inform us that they are short staffed and as a result we had to unfortunately wait a little longer for our food. After about another 15 minutes the waiter returned to inform us that we would have to wait another 3-5min (which was already 10 minutes ago as I am sitting here writing this review) We were still waiting for our food (starters) at 11:54 when the waiter came again to apologize so we decided to pay for our drinks and go somewhere else. The manager then came around to apologize and asked us to wait an extra 2 minutes. I wasn’t prepared to take the chance as these 2 minutes could be another 20 minutes. The table across from us were also not very happy about the quality of the food as they had undercooked fish with no caper sauce. This is very embarrassing for the franchise and disappointing for paying customers.

    Poor and slow service .Food was cold when arrived .Manager definitely not hands on. So many staff standing around doing nothing .One of the staff fell when entering the kitchen ,the manager showed no concern.Im guessing a law suite doesn't scare him.

    Really good experience. Busy day and travelling so slipped my mind that today was Valentine's day... cringed when I saw the flowers on the tables cause then I remembered the day... I thought it would be awkward going there alone but the staff were amazing so felt really at ease and comfortable. Soso, my waiter did a great job of making sure I was taken care of even with all the hustle snd bustle of love struck couples all around. Oh... and the food was great too. THANKS GUYS! KEEP IT UP. Will definitely be back when I'm in EL again.

    Great food as Ocean basket always has. Although the roof was leaking next to our table when it was raining. Quite annoying having to walk like a fairy everytime you get up. Wouldve given 5 stars

    Waiter was quite confused about options offered by the restaurant. He forgot order specifics. Only mentioned that they did not have calamari heads in their platter when they were serving the meal. Besides the cold rice, the food was nice just very unprofessional service.

    I'm sorry bit this is the last time I go to OB . Chips and fish served was not done. Rice was cold . Not to mention the prawns , absolutely no taste either. Quality has dropped by more than a mile !

    For 11 AM the food was exceptional we don't usually go to ocean basket because of poor quality food but the food was extra tasty and quite frankly phenomenal I'm really surprised that this is ocean basket we were the first in the restaurant so food was quick less than 20 min for a platter for 2 would definitely recommend

    We had guests that spoke highly of Ocean Basket in Gauteng, but were utterly disappointed when they had a touch of food poisoning after we had ordered food for 10 people. So embarrassing! What a waste of money 😪. Never coming back again ✌🏽

    Spent my mom's bday here, she loved it. Sand happy birthday. Went with a group of people. They had something for everyone. This one is way better than the beacon bay one in terms of atmosphere.

    We got there an hour before a friend land at the airport so our time was limited. Welcomed and seated, given a menu. Waiter didn't come to take orders, after 10 minutes l asked a coloured male waiter to call her she never come, coloured male waiter also didn't come with feedback. Due to time l stood and politely asked someone else to assist us and took our order, she did and our order arrived very quick, that time l was already irritated but was hungry. She never even bother to come and say anything to us. Not sure of going back there, zamtya xa ndisePE Ocean Basket. They are the best.

    I ordered a variety of sushi, all of which contained avocado. The avocado was rock hard, and I ended up picking it all out. I find it hard to believe that they served it accidentally. It’s easy to spot unripe avocado, especially when it’s as unripe as mine was. The waiter was friendly and professional. However, the manager was willing to charge me the full price but did offer an apology. I had to specifically request a discount for the avocado issue, and in response, an Appletiser was discounted from the bill. Unlikely to see me there in a hurry.

    Just got back home after what was supposed to be a great birthday meal…but, quite the opposite. The staff were in a tense mood. It felt awkward, until I overheard the manager shouting and swearing at the kitchen staff about some issue. Had to ask 3 times for some ice for wine, but that was still okay until hearing swearing from the manager from the kitchen which I recorded and will send to head office. The food was really good, but the staff were not friendly and a supervisor was also a bit cocky with me when I asked about our ice (probably because of the tense atmosphere set by the manager’s shouting and swearing loud and audible enough to hear bellowing from the kitchen right onto the restaurant area). Some of the decor and lighting also looks in need of attention. Franchisees clearly do not care about their restaurant at all. Ocean Basket, you have disappointed me and you’ve spoilt my birthday with such shock and utter regret for having chosen your restaurant. Please do not reply with the same standard “we hope we can turn this around” generic message if you really care about your brand. Customer service has dropped at this branch. It seems like owners have dropped the ball big time and staff morale is at an all time low, including the aesthetics of your restaurant. Where is your pride and dignity?

    I found the service to be slow and lacking. Tables around us get bread rolls, yet we don't. I don't think our waitron was not interested. The delays weren't acceptable to be honest. Thank goodness the quality of food was up to standard.

    We entered ur establishment on 28/9/20 and was really looking forward to a meal. We waited a while for someone to welcome us and to take our temp and sanitise our hands which is the norm at any restaurant nowadays. No one came to assist and someone behind the counter just gestured that we should take a seat anywhere. We also waited some time for someone to atleast come around and take an order of drinks but again we were left waiting. The service last night was really of poor standard. We also saw another customer complain about the poor service and after witnessing that, we decided to just leave. I sincerely hope that this will be looked into and would not like this to happen again should we decide to visit ur restaurant again. Thank you for taking the time to read my complaint.     I am split here the food is absolutely decine when you get to eventually eat it. The staff in East london Vincent never answer the telephone and that makes placing orders difficult. There are limited options on Mr delivery to tailor make your order which forces u to call the restaurant directly... Absolute nightmare

    They made me wait with out even attending to me standing at door Then food was ordered I wanted to get something from Accross the shop. The manager asked me to give her the name of shop like I’m a crook Then wen I arrived.     The place was crowded, no one at reception. I was eventually placed at a 'blocked ' table. No cutlery, no seasoning. The poor waitrons were running around like headless chickens. I would expect that the manager take charge during the surge, instead of being conspicuously absent in leadership. Perhaps take some example from the Ocean Basket in Newcastle and learn how to lead. A pity, the food was good. But client service comes before churning out numbers at the expense of quality.
