I was in town for work and stopped in using my nationwide membership. They were very friendly and welcoming. I was set up so I could scan myself in, in the morning. The weight room was great and very nice locker rooms.

My new favorite gym! Doug was very welcoming. It’s great to see genuine and excellent customer service.

Outdated. Left my gear in big locker for 3 nights. Upon return my lock had been cut, gym attire & toiletries removed. Staff didn’t know where my gear went. I found it men’s locker room lost & found with toiletries & shoes missing. My buddy had an extra pair of shoes, unfortunately racquetball courts were too wet to play on. Terrible experience.

Wonderful Mosaics class with Rebecca! She was very informative, professional and warm. The class needs to be 2 hours long however. 1 hour is just not enough time to do the project.

The facility is very dated and has limited swimming hours. Why is the jacuzzi located between both men and women locker rooms? I didn’t feel comfortable with that type of access. I canceled my membership in less than a month. No one from the staff gave me a new membership consultation nor did they care why I was canceling. The management team was not friendly.

There is No Steam room contrary to the staff saying yes there is one in the mens room. The YMCA is a great place here. Still if staff can not distinguish between a Steam Room and a Dry Sauna then perhaps the YMCA should list the amenities on the website in bold so they can study it right.

Great, friendly facility. Newly refurbished locker rooms, bright workout spaces, and tons of classes for all fitness levels, ages, shapes, and sizes. Truly a “no judgment zone”.

The Farmington Y is a great place for adults and kids. Lots of options to exercise and activities to join. The facilities are clean and the people are friendly.

I have used many of the offerings, including the pools for independent swim and classes, group exercise classes, wellness center, walking track, and personal trainer. All have met my needs and been enjoyable at the same time.

Worked here. Sanitation doesn't exist, management is disastrous, every room just seems so cramped, events organization is out of place, list goes on

I took group swim lessons here and really enjoyed it. I built a lot of confidence through the instruction. Also locker room and shower area is very modern and clean. Great experience!

I was unable to make use of my membership. I called three days before the scheduled charge for a new month and canceled it. However, three days later, I received a notification that the YMCA attempted to charge me, and now I have an outstanding balance. According to their email, I need to "remit payment promptly to avoid collections." When I contacted their office, they were unhelpful and seemed indifferent to the fact that I had already canceled my membership and had no intention of using it. They insisted that any changes needed to be made 10 days prior to the scheduled charge. Charging someone when it was known in advance that they wouldn't be using the services seems as a predatory policy designed to extract additional money from people and resembles theft.

The employees are super nice and helpful. The facilities are better than ANY gym in this city... And, finally, "The Price is Right!"

We recently joined the Y in anticipation for summer camps coming once school lets out. The process for signing up was easy and the staff was very patient and helpful with all of the questions I had. We have since visited the Y to use the pool and my kids had a blast. We checked out the "parent's night out" in February and despite my initial concerns about leaving my kids in a new place (it's a me problem), they did GREAT and actually didn't want to leave when we came to pick them up. The two ladies working at the event showed kindness and patience towards my kids which I really appreciated. I'm excited to explore more activities and events that the Y has to offer. I definitely recommend it to anyone with little kiddos!

The staff and even several members were very warm and informative during my tour. The Y was clean, and offered a lot more activities than most other commercial health clubs. Most of all, there was open swim for me to build my distance for triathlon training. Honestly, the Farmington MI Y far exceeded my expectations!

Love all the renovations that happened last year - so clean and fresh, instructors who remember your name instantly, accommodate all levels of fitness, and are compulsive smilers !!

Fantastic, friendly staff and top notch equipment. The building's a bit dated, but it doesn't bother me at all.

"Membership" employees are not very accommodating at all. They are very quick to sign you up and be slick about it but NOT helpful at all once you've signed that paper. Very discouraging since this is suppose to be community based. If I wanted to be billedb by a salesperson I would have done to lif&$#me.

Most of the staff I have dealt with have been very friendly. The amenities are in pretty good shape, looks clean, but not exactly inexpensive. Lots of classes to choose from if that is what you are looking to find. Am new to this Y but hope to find things to do for fun

Great gym! The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming, and the equipment is clean and well maintained. There is a mixed demographic, with all ages and fitness levels represented, which I really like.

Poor camp experience. My daughter used to go to this camp and it was fine. Now with new staff I've had nothing but issues. The counselors cannot even pronounce my son's name. They blamed him for something that he did not and would not do. I don't have an issue with him lying to me. This year I'm appalled at the way the camp experience has been for my child!

  • 5/5 Rene L. 1 year ago on Google
very welcoming, both staff and regulars, great equipment for my needs, everyone very conscious of safety, cleaning equipment after use, and lots of young people around so that cheers up the place :-)

  • 4/5 Richard B. 1 year ago on Google
Great place to workout. However I wish they would turn the AC on in the cardio workout center. The entire rest of the club is easily 5 degrees cooler.

  • 2/5 Nikki P. 11 months ago on Google
A review maybe the only way we'll see improvement. Reoccurring hot tub and therapy pool closures and lack of current cardio equipment make the monthly membership fee a hard pill to swallow.

  • 5/5 Kyle N. 2 years ago on Google
The most friendly and outgoing staff that I have ever encountered at a Y. This Y has everything that you would want to get in a great workout. Indoor Track; they got it. Free weights; yep got those too. Exercise Machines; more that you can count. Classes; every day of the week. Pool; got one of those too.

The lap pool is perfect for our aerobic classes and I have been able to strengthen in the water.

Decent fitness facility with very friendly staff. Signing up for lessons and programs can seem tricky and disorganized at times. Not as swanky and new as some other upscale fitness facilities but clean, functional, and very family friendly.

  • 5/5 Jim A. 1 year ago on Google
Quite simply a great place to workout, very pleasant staff and members. I feel much closer to both than I have at many other workout ‘gyms’ including the Livonia Y which closed during my thirty six year membership.

  • 5/5 Rachel M. 1 year ago on Google
They had some many options on what u could do. There were several weight rooms. Dance room with mirrors all around the room. Hot tub, Olympic size swimming pool. Several humongous bathrooms. Lots of changing stations and lockers. Plus there was a small play ground area for the kids outside and it least 5 picnic tables to sit it the back are a. Parking lot was very spacious too.

One of the worst gyms I’ve ever been to. Honestly have no idea how this has so many stars. I’ve given them so many chances. Their membership is double that of similar gyms like powerhouse and LAfitness etc. Their basketball courts are always shutting down early, have dust on them, or shutting down for tennis, coaching, and other things. Their service is not bad but then there’s times it’s horrible. The place is insanely aged. In my opinion there’s just so many places with better features, cleaner spaces, better people, yet half the price. I’m honestly mind boggled on how this place makes any money or how it’s still open.

The whole staff at the Farmington YMCA is welcoming and friendly. I have not encountered one staff member or even a patron who is "having a bad day." If you want every day to be a good day, this Y is for you! I love going to my workout at the Farmington Y.

Your front desk employees need to be trained to know the rules in the weight room. The person there this morning was clueless.1

Since the COVID crisis this YMCA has totally rebuilt & reconfigured its locker rooms, jacuzzi, and saunas to the highest standards. Being a lap swimmer, I can confirm that, between the 6-lane pool and a separate "Therapy Pool," any visitors will find it a most satisfying experience. And I don't even use the large multi-purpose gymnasium, racquetball courts, and well-equipped workout room for any other types of exercises. Well worth your time and health!

Nice friendly gym if you’re on a budget and are looking somewhere to work out near the area. It has many activities and the staff is very friendly. Some improvements on the locker rooms would be great.

Been coming here since I was five from swim class to camp ki-ka-pu all the way up to the name change to camp michigama and I made some amazing friends and amazing memories here that’ll last a lifetime and I also enjoy participating in the annual cipriano 5k run/walk every summer, it’s my favorite 5k run/walk and it’s for an amazing cause and it’s a great tradition I made for myself and even tho I’m currently not a member, I like to bike down there during the spring, fall and summer times just to hang and say hello to the people that Ik who work or worked there!:). The y will always have a special place in my heart!:).

My daughter and I have been members now for a few years. The camps that they offer for breaks and summer are amazing, and so well organized. My daughter loves the summer camp! We also have her in swim classes. She has learned so much since kindergarten, graduated all the classes and will be trying swim team next! Everyone has been so nice and helpful with any questions or concerns that I have. The classes that I personally taken have been great! Totally recommend the farmington family Ymca!

The variety and volume of exercise equipment almost eliminates waits. The exercise area is almost always employee attended. Large and secure locker area. Fellow exercisers are almost always polite and considerate.

We have been Y members for 13 years. Our children have grown up here from daycare to camp to school age childcare to swim team and karate and other sports activities. I love that they are comfortable at the Y, and that everyone knows them. The Y does what they set out to do - build a stronger community through the activities it offers. My kids are definitely stronger for being a part of the Y all these years.

This was my first time visiting the Farmington Family YMCA. We were there to participate in the Cipriano Classic in Farmington Hills for a 5K Fun Run & Walk. From what we saw on this trip, this facility is one of the nicest YMCAs we have been in. Its location is easy to access and parking is ample. The next time I come to the Detroit area I think it will be close to this facility as we would definitely be using the swimming pool.
