If you're planning a trip to Istanbul, I highly recommend checking out Beyazit Square. It's such a lively and bustling area, with plenty of things to see and do. The square itself is beautifully designed, with lots of open spaces where you can sit and relax. It's a great place to people-watch and soak up the local atmosphere.

Large communal square, which links several key areas. These include the historical mosque, the university, the bazaar, and more. It's usually more lively in the evening.

Many of the monuments in the square were being restored when I was there, hence covered by scaffolding, however, there is a nice part of the plaza behind the mosque that offers trees and shade. There is a couple of entrances to the grand bazaar that you can access from the square. There are also a number of vendors and a bunch of ATMs located here.

Beautiful square with a mighty gate. 1. The Gate which is the main entrance of Istanbul University is magnificent. 2. In Beyazit Square, you can go inside the mall and buy some stuff. It is relatively cheaper than the Grand Bazaar even without Bargaining. (Of course you need to bargain though. ) 3. You can visit the Beyazit Mosque, it is just next to the square. 4. Remember to bring your camera so that you can take more pictures and bring more happy memories back home :)

I love Istanbul, partly because it separates Europe from Asia and partly due to the cultural experience here that spans back to the Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman Empire. Its positioned on the Silk Road that was narrated by Marco Polo.

The new paving stones are awfully selected by the contractor or istanbul municipality, no idea. You can hardly walk in the square.

Beautiful square with a huge gate, which is the main entrance of the oldest university in the city, called Istanbul University. Also there's a mosque right next to it, and the square is very big so if you want to have good pictures to Marmara Sea you can come when it's sunset 🌇 It's very beautiful ❤️

Beyazit is a lot calmer place than I thought it would be. More interestingly, I came across the Istanbul University Gate and the square altogether unknowingly. And when I got to see the magnificent structure of the gate I was astonished in real. Hurriedly I took some pictures and moved to the once Ottoman Royal Palace, now University Rector Office & Department. My eyes got stucked ib every inch of the palace wherever I looked at. I don't know if the tourists are allowed to enter, I could as J had the student card.

Beautiful square and one of Istanbul’s most iconic squares, it’s located in the heart of the city in Fatih district next to Sultanahmet, it has the university of Istanbul’s main entrance and Beyazit mosque in addition to other attractions as well, most of it currently is under maintenance so don’t expect much currently.

The square used to be Istanbul's main meeting place for centuries. It stands on the site of the ancient Roman Forum Tauri The gate between two Turkish flags is the main entrance of the University of Istanbul. The university campus was built as the Ottoman War Ministery, hence its fortress-like appearance

Beyazıt Square has seen its share of dramatic moments. On June 15, 1915, 20 Armenian activists were hanged there by the Ottoman government during the Armenian Genocide. On February 16, 1969, the square witnessed the beginning of Bloody Sunday (Kanlı Pazar), when left-wing students and labor unions gathered to protest the American Sixth Fleet dropping anchor in the Bosporus. Finally, on March 16, 1978, attackers massacred seven Istanbul University students and injured 41 others using a bomb and gunfire.

It is a historical place to visit. It 2min walk away from the Grand Bazaar so it is a very central place. There is also a mosque you can visit. I personally did not find it as facinsting as other places but the historical relevance stands.

Beyazit is a cosmopolitan part of Istanbul with a sokme touch of history and medieval architecture in some quarters. Market places, business premises, a few government offices and many cargo offices line the streets in Beyazit. There's also the famous Istanbul university having an expansive campus at the city centre.

To be clear, this is not necessarily a destination or much special in itself more than a gateway to other places. A mosque a university a view of the city and so on. Bits and pieces surrounding under construction at the moment, though you may read this years from today and that be irrelevant.

Beyazıt Square lies to the north of Ordu Caddesi in the district of Fatih, Istanbul, Turkey. Officially named Freedom Square, it is more generally known as Beyazıt Square after the early Ottoman Bayezid II Mosque

Officially named Freedom Square, it is more generally known as Beyazıt Square after the early Ottoman Bayezid II Mosque on one side. The square is the former site of the Forum of Theodosius (AKA Forum Tauri) built by Constantine the Great : quoted from Google. Come to this square after we landed in Istanbul. Found this square with claws proximity to many interesting sites like the grand bazaar , Istanbul university and the mosque. Beautiful plz Ebro take pictures in the front of the university or the mosque.

This seems to be the place where everyone converges when coming in to Istanbul for the first time. The very first view of the place is that you have arrived. The Simit seller is there with the round breads or bagels and that’s the taste of Turkey right there. Every person I spoke to here was actually smiling and happy.
