The steaks are average and their service is far below average but the price is above average. They may know about steaks but might not know about service. I strongly recommend not to use them for someone's birthday or special occasions.

Pretty disappointed. For the menu prices, service was terrible. I'm not trying to sound lazy but for what you pay.. you should get table service. After we ordered (4 of us), only 2 breads and cutlery were delivered so when our meals came out 2 of us had no cutlery. No table water was offered. We had dirty plates around us an hour after we'd finished. Not once we're we asked if our meals were nice or if we needed anything else. This was on a Tuesday night too when it wasn't too busy. The food was okay but definitely not worth the amount you pay.

Steak quality and service has dropped. This used to be our favourite steak go to! Ordered a midi eye fillet medium. Steak was not cooked medium and very tough & lots of sinew throughout. It had a cut mark on arrival like they had checked to see if it was cooked properly. I spoke to the manager (male) at the end to let him know of my disappointment and to relay to the chef. I didn't ask for a refund or anything just simply to provide feedback. He was rude and argumentative with my husband. We were regulars but I'll be looking for a new local after the way we were spoken to today (29/4/23) Very disappointed

Steak, chips, baked and mashed potato are always cooked to perfection. Even the bread, sauces, garden salad and coleslaw doesn’t disappoint. Consistency always exists here. Service is fast and up high in standards; staffs are always responsive and willing to fix your complaints promptly (over/undercooked steak, wrong sides etc).

For price very average, steak was over cook and tested very dry. Stuff was friendly but meal quality need to be better.

What keeps me returning with family and friends across three decades? Quality and consistency. And I always seem to order the large eye fillet. It just can’t be beaten. I spiced it up this time with a sausage and chilli sauce entree and finished it off perfectly with a few schooners of XXXX.

Great steakhouse at reasonable prices. Definitely recommend booking before arriving. It has a bit of a canteen feel to it (line up at counter to order food) as opposed to a sit down dining experience, but that’s fine as this is more of a casual fun experience. I arrived at 7:30pm and at that point it felt like peak; I think I waited in line for 15 mins to order. The steak was standard but cooked to my liking (medium rare). The mushroom sauce was thick and tasty while my two sides or coleslaw and chips were excellent choices.

Fabulous steak! Had Sunday lunch there with my husband and the place was buzzing. Food ordered at the counter and drinks via a QR code. Drinks arrived very quickly and the food followed soon after. There were plenty of staff around to cater for the number of people there and the kitchen staff just worked non-stop like a well oiled machine. I had the NY cut striploin with mustard bernaise, chips and salad. Everything was fresh and delicious and the steak was cooked to perfection. My husband had the rib on the bone, coleslaw and baked potato with bacon. We shared a side order of onion rings which completed the meal. Can't wait to go back.

1.11.2023 (Lunch) Beautiful food presentation. Pan-fried Barra, Filet Mignon and Eye Fillet were excellent. The T-Bone Steak was grilled rare instead of medium-rare and had excessive gristle. Friendly staff and great service!

I love the private room at Norman Hotel. Great table to host our big family. They gave the option to order at the counter, it was easy so each family paid individually. The food came all at once and perfect cook as always.

Got there shortly before 2:30 pm & was treated very shabbily by the young woman on reception. We were all made to sign is on a form even though 3 out of 4 had phones and had used the QR code option . Were advised that we had 1 minute to order and needed to get to the counter promptly and place our order quickly. Probably as punishment for being toward the end of the lunch period we got a pretty average seat, even though there were a number of other better positions available. The barman appeared more interested in watching the basketball on the big screen , and treated us like an intrusion into his sporting pursuits! A medium rare fillet came as rare, and a rare rump arrived medium and cold! Parmi's and starters were ok. Given the prices charged , top quality service should be a given. Perhaps some of the staff don't appreciate how blessed they are to have employment in the current Covid afflicted economic climate. Wouldnt recommend the place and won't be returning.

Visiting Brisbane from Singapore, and I have to say that this is easily one of the best steak restaurants I have ever been to at its price point. Had the large rib fillet, cooked a beautiful medium rare. Will definitely be back again!

I've had meat-free steaks that had more flavour than the NY sirloin. First one came out 'well-done', second was medium rare but looked like it just came out of the freezer. Certainly not the 'worst vegan resturant' I've been to.

You'd think they could nail a steak temp... but you'd be wrong. Apx 40% of the stalls served at the table went back... and they still weren't right. Such a shame the brissy icon is now done.. well done. The bread rolls reminded me of space food. Nice butter though. Great touch. Hard to get a drink at the bar when we had a group function. You'd think they'd want to sell drinks, but nope.

No surprises, a classic beer garden steak experience. I was pleased to see that meals are now served to the table. There are a number of bars in the venue for smaller breakaway groups.

Great steaks but sides could use a bit of work. We ordered a Caesar salad to share... it was a bowl of lettuce with an overcooked boiled egg, slab of bacon not even diced up and could barely see Parmesan. It seemed a rather lazy way to make a salad and was almost like a statement of “we only do steaks everything else is too much of a bother”. That said, the steaks were amazing and I did love the prawn topper I added with it. We were all so full after that none of us ate dinner that night. I’d give it a five star rating if everything on the menu was served to perfection like their steaks

Have had the pleasure of dining here a number of times now including Christmas work parties where it is a great venue for groups. They have a very generous steak menu with several cuts available. Overall it is quite expensive but serving sizes are large, you have choices in sides, and my steak has been cooked to perfection each time. It’s a large venue and can be very busy so booking ahead is a good idea. On my most recent visit they were trialling ordering from QR codes which was an improvement on their service, previously you had to line up to order food. Service otherwise is always fantastic and staff work hard to deliver a positive dining experience for its guests. I particularly love the atmosphere of the outdoor area. Parking onsite is limited for such a large restaurant, and on a busy night do expect to have to park on a nearby street and walk.

It was my birthday and we actually went to the Pineapple Hotel to find the restaurant closed. So the Norman hotel was by default. We were very pleased with the meals.

I just arranged our family of eleven’s Christmas meal at the Norman Hotel. We have been coming here for years without any problems. Tonight my niece and I ordered a steak and asked for it to be cooked MEDIUM. It came out virtually raw. When we spoke to the manager in charge, she said she would let the chef know and offered to RECOOK the same steaks for us. What terrible PR! Very disappointed with the response and won’t be going back again. Plus I am now home with diarrhoea!!! Not only was it not cooked to standard, it was OFF!!!

An excellent steak house on the south side in Brisbane. Big open dining spaces, with a huge number of areas to relax and dine at. Big bars with plenty of service and the usual big range of steaks make it a great location for a social catch up with bigger groups

Wonderful experience for a Bucks night meal! The staff were wonderful with organising everything! Meals came out at time specified and cooked to perfection! The 600g Rump ticked the Bucks request for steak perfectly & the meals accommodated our vegan/vegetarian friends!

The customer service was outstanding. Everyone we encountered was polite, helpful and friendly. We went on a Monday night and it was extremely busy - which should tell you how good it is. I ordered rare steak (and picked precisely which steak) from the cabinet, while my partner got atlantic salmon and we shared an entree of buffalo wings. The entree came out quite quickly considering it was busy and with home made singularly packed rolls. Wings for some reason I was expecting deep fried, but Oh My Goodness! Everything was outstanding! Dinner took a little longer, but we had drinks ordered from and brought to our table while we waited. The salmon - amazing though slightly overdone but was still fantastic. I The steak was fantastic though came out blue and cold, I asked for it to be recooked a little longer and they topped up my sides - though the baked potato topping was quite overly meaty/salty. But still mouthwatering delicious steak.

Cannot recommend and rate this place high enough. The food (especially the steaks) are next level. Whenever we have been it’s always super busy but never waiting long for our food. Beautiful outdoor courtyard seating area with fairy lights at night is the perfect spot to sit and enjoy a cold beverage and yummy food. Great location right near the Gabba and city.

It's been years since I've been here, but it's still as good as I remember. The place runs like clockwork. The steaks are just perfect everytime and I even enjoyed my salad. The sauces were all gluten free and delicious. The atmosphere was great as well.

My son and I attended the SteakMaster course and it was excellent. Very informative and interesting, followed by a great steak meal that we helped cook. A very enjoyable evening and well worth the money.

As they say the worst vegan and vegetarian restaurant. I had a 400g rump steak, Idaho potato and coleslaw. The steak was cooked to perfection, the whole meal was great. Service was good , we did wait long , the price was fair. Parking was a bit difficult, as the hotel hasn't a big car park. A bit of a walk , but well worth it.

Big steak for a big boy. We rallied the troops and dominated the 1kg steak challenge. It has to be said that this wasn’t a challenge, rather it was in my books the perfect sized steak. Certificate in hand, I walked away a happy man, knowing my name would forever dawn the walls of the Norman. I can’t wait for next years challenge.

  • 5/5 Peter N. 9 months ago on Google
The place was completely packed and the T-bone was cooked to perfection, the baked spud and bacon were amazing and even the salad was tasty with the perfect amount of dressing. Save the bread roll until the end to soak up the left over juices and sauce.

  • 4/5 Mark S. 1 year ago on Google
I have to say that this was the best steak I’ve had in Brisbane. The ordering process was efficient and the order taker understood how to ensure the meal was cooked gluten free to reduce the risk of cross contamination. The portion sizes are large and included two sides and a bread roll in the main cost. They lose a star though for the Maitre’D who had a bad attitude when we asked to sit outside. I had reserved in advance as it was my birthday I wanted a nice quiet table outside . Despite there being many tables available outside his reply that “we are expecting more people” was truly laughable. At 7pm on a Tuesday night with about 80% of the outdoor tables available, there was little chance they would all be filled. As was the case when we left at 8.30pm. Still 70% of the tables were not filled. Please don’t let this one guy who seats people ruin an otherwise enjoyable evening.

Steaks are ok nothing to write home about, the bearnaise is ruined with mustard through it and tasted like chemicals.. good to see it busy after COVID but I found it Stange to be packed in a line to order a steak waiting 20 minutes but you can order drinks and starters on your phone... Well, we were known as the most none vegetarian restaurant in Brisbane. We have never had a bad steak from here. Due to the late-night booking, I emailed them our orders. The staff was friendly and helpful. We arrived at 7.45 pm, and our food was served 5-10 minutes later. Top service!

  • 4/5 Sue k. 1 year ago on Google
Overall, all the food tasted good. Especially mixed oysters 👍🏻 But the steak was a little disappointing. I ordered a steak with medium cooked, but it was close to medium rare. The salt of the chips disturbed the taste of the pork ribs on the same bowl.

  • 5/5 Helen W. 1 year ago on Google
Such a fabulous steak house. So many styles of seating and steaks to select from, with a lovely selection of sides (many are gluten free and dairy free). The write up on the steaks indicate where they are from snd what they fed on. We sat out in the open air in the beer garden and loved it. The service was friendly, helpful and quick. There was also a nice selection of wines. I enjoyed the Jim Barry Cab Sav with my steak. My husband enjoyed Stone and Wood Pacific Ale on tap.

Spent $180 for four persons, and the steaks were overcooked and chewy. They even had a taste of char. The manager and staff were nice and offered free drinks. But our NYE's dinner was spoiled.

  • 4/5 Rachael E. 1 year ago on Google
Similar to what the old steak restaurant at Breakfast Creek used to be. The steak menu is generous, with plenty of different cuts to choose from, including some higher end ones. Overall it's quite expensive but the side portions are large. They are currently trialling ordering online via QR codes which is a great improvement over standing in line to order at the counter.

I went to the Norman and ordered dinner with a group. There was a mixup with our order. My food did not arrive. When we checked with the kitchen a Manager came out and gave me a stern talking to. She made me go line up again and pay at the front counter before she would start the meal I had been waiting an hour for. Not really a "Restaurant" experience. Maybe the Norman has a 'dine and dash' problem which has made them unfriendly?

  • 5/5 Tammy C. 3 years ago on Google

The steak was really tender and delicious, but I waited too long for the food to come out. I think I've been waiting for 40 minutes. Maybe because it's the weekend, but I don't recommend it when you don't have enough time or are too hungry.

  • 5/5 K J. 3 years ago on Google
They sure can cook steak! Beautiful dinner here & we highly recommend the chilli sauce with the steak. Salad dressing is famous & it’s easy to see why. Only concern was that it was really busy when we were there & there was no social distancing with the table placement. Chairs were literally back to back touching.

  • 4/5 Kerry A. 3 years ago on Google
Good pub fare. Very much a meat lover's paradise but the barramundi I had was perfect. They've done a good job rebuilding the rear of the premises. Service is quick and typically pub standard.

  • 5/5 Josh B. 3 years ago on Google
I won't necessarily say that this is a great pub, but the thing is that it is located in what is essentially a gorgeous building. In fact as a pub it is quite large, has a number of bars, and an awesome beer garden. Yet, despite all of this, if really didn't have a huge range of beers on tap. In fact the selection was rather limited, and generally the ones that I really don't like all that much. Still, it is a decent pub, if only for the beer garden.

My friend and I shared our birthday with a party of 25 people last night. We had a great time. The platters we ordered were delicious and generous! The tasty Spicy chicken drummets, the calamari and the mozzarella balls were the faves! Thanks to the staff for letting us be a little noisy and sprinkle the confetti on the table. I would definitely recommend The Norman Hotel to anyone who appreciates friendly staff, good food and a fun atmosphere!

I'd heard only good things about this hotel however the day I went it was quite average. It was a date for 2, got seated in a really awkward spot with no fan working. Ordered steaks with toppers/sides (Asked to have as toppers with veg on the side and sauce in a sauce jar) instead our requests ignored and it all come out separately. Both steaks were cooked unevenly. Tasty cocktails.

The chefs here know exactly what they are doing. The day I went there with a friend it was a little busy and we were place in a strange place for a table to be, but we were able to move. Essentially, this place is just your basic pub in Brisbane with the exception that the steak is probably the best you are going to get around. If I would come back to this place, it would be to hold a function or a staff party. Their little to large rooms tucked away all around the place is a great place to hold a party.
