Brateș is one of the largest lakes in Romania, located in the south of Moldova, in the confluence of the Prut and the Danube. The lake has an average depth of 3m. It is an important fishing base and an important tourist attraction in Galati county. Special avifaunistic protection area. Access ways: National road DN26 on the Galati - Vânători route. The European road E87 on the route Galati - Giurgiulesti, Cahul (Republic of Moldova), after 5 km. the site is reached.

I was looking for a less crowded place for a swim and someone told me about this lake. I was very excited as I was told it was beautifully decorated. The excitement lasted until I got there. The lake is acceptable, the entrance to the lake is full of rubbish, the sand is dirty and full of cigarette butts, the umbrellas are broken... sad. It was a place with potential.

Once much wider and with a lot of water, a fishing place for Galatians. Now, with the water luster halved, to expand a... non-existent agriculture. Even for entertainment, the Galatians don't have anything to get there too easily.

On a beautiful January day...

A shallow knee-deep artificial lake, left over from some kind of irrigation system, most likely built under the Soviets. There is a tourist center or camp here, also left behind after the Soviets, to which everyone goes. Entrance costs 10 lei per person. Considering the fact that there is nowhere to go here at all, everyone goes to barbecue. There are about a dozen tables and barbecues. By 6 pm everyone leaves here. There is a bar with beer. That's all.
