⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Charming, creative, and full of life! Penang’s street art scene is a must-see — colorful murals, historic shophouses, and a perfect blend of culture and fun. Don’t miss the famous “Children on a Bicycle” and take your time exploring the lively streets around Armenian Street. Great for photos and evening strolls!
Cool street art at serendipitous places....keep your eyes peeled. One of the interesting and charming aspects of Georgetown is the mix of the old , colonial vibe with the modern 21st century go-go growth. The street art and funky stores and restaurants in the downtown area circled by this growing , vibrant city underline this very cool contrast and dichotomy. Old and young street art and art- in- progress is everywhere. As you ramble and rummage, keep your eyes moving,, looking up and down , for interesting wall art and architecture. Handicap doable and recommended. Restrooms in some restaurants and hotels only. Final take...Recommended
The Penang street art was okay. I have a lot of this kind of art in the city i live in so it wasn’t something very special for me. The cycle art is the most famous there. Its nice for an evening walk around Penang.
A part of the Street Art, are the iron sculptures. The sculptures tell the story of Georgetown, making it an interesting day trip to visit all the art and sculptures. Since the many tourism, The tourism bureau, has provided Penang with many hotels, bars and restaurants making the city fun during day time and night time. Visiting Georgetown is really a recommendation
Wandering around the streets of Georgetown. Lots of interesting street art everywhere. Not just the area labelled street art on Google maps. Almost every little street has at least one form of art on the walls.
Creative food goes with creative art. Art is everywhere and ever changing. Many are popular mainstays like kids on bike. Others lesser known you may find on less tracked streets. It’s fun to come upon a corner or alley with such surprises.
The street art is very picturesque. The whole area is a beautiful place to walk and enjoy the surroundings.
There r lot of Beautiful Street arts. Even shop doors r decorated with paintings. Lot of crowd for photoshoot so that traffics may create in weekends, so better plan for weekdays.
It is relaxing to walk around except during hot sunny day. You can find a lot of art mural as Instagram spot. You will definitely be able to take a lot of nice pictures here. You will also be able to buy souvenirs here as there are a lot of shops available here.
Such a great way to explore George Town. There are many famous pictures/graffiti to discover at your own pace. There is a shop that sells the artwork and the man knows all the stories about each picture. Well worth hunting it down.
While your walking, look left, right, up and down as there are so many opportunities you may miss. A truly enjoyable walk while searching for gifts and great places to eat.
Their fresh beef is super tender including their beef ball but I don't have any om to the food as being the norm nothing to shout about .
Many souvenir shops and photo spots
If you’re in Penang, a walk down Armenian Street in George Town is an absolute must for art enthusiasts and culture seekers alike. The area is a vibrant blend of history and creativity, with its iconic street art installations perfectly complementing the heritage architecture. The murals, many of which were created by Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic, are an essential part of Penang’s charm. From the playful “Little Children on a Bicycle” to the wistful “Boy on a Motorcycle,” these artworks are not just paintings—they’re an interactive experience. Watching people pose creatively with the murals adds a delightful energy to the street. Beyond the murals, the area is alive with local businesses—boutique cafes, craft shops, and quaint galleries—adding depth to the cultural experience. It’s also worth exploring the hidden corners, as some of the lesser-known artworks and graffiti gems are tucked away in quiet alleys. Tip: Visit in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. Comfortable shoes and a camera are essentials. If you’re here during the festive, visiting at night will have really nice light installations accompanying you too! Whether you’re here to soak in the art or enjoy the vibrant street life, Armenian Street truly encapsulates the soul of Penang. A stroll here leaves you inspired and deeply connected to the island’s cultural heartbeat.
Exploring Penang’s street art in George Town was an unforgettable experience! The vibrant murals scattered around the streets create an open-air gallery that blends culture, history, and creativity. Every corner seemed to tell a story, and it felt like a treasure hunt as I wandered through the alleys, discovering iconic pieces like “Kids on a Bicycle” and “Boy on a Motorcycle.” I loved how interactive the art was—many murals are designed to let you pose with them, making the experience even more fun. The attention to detail and how the art is integrated with the surroundings is truly fascinating. The area is buzzing with cafes and shops, so I took breaks to enjoy local snacks like cendol and asam laksa. The street art isn’t just about the murals—it’s about soaking in the unique vibe of George Town, where heritage and modernity coexist beautifully. If you’re in Penang, dedicating a day to exploring the street art is a must. Wear comfy shoes, bring a camera, and let the city surprise you!
Penang's street art transforms the streets of George Town into an open-air gallery, blending creativity with cultural storytelling. The vibrant murals and interactive installations, like "Boy on a Bike" and "Children on a Bicycle," capture the essence of local life and history. Wandering through these colorful streets is not just a visual treat but also a journey into Penang's heritage, making it a must-see for art lovers and travelers alike.
This is a vibrant cultural attraction albeit rather touristy. Even on a weekday you can expect many people from around the globe snapping pictures. Great for cat lovers ! There are eateries nearby to help stay hydrated in warm temperatures and to stay nourished while walking. There are also many little shops to take breaks in cooler . You can find a few benches scattered benched for folks who might have mobility or capacity challenges. There are also bicycles and carts to help make this more accessible.
Totally worth the visit. The art, the ice cream, the shopping and finally the food! Little India nearby also.
24 hours open. Lights are available in every street art. So i would suggest to go at night time. Just like dora take a map from your hotel and try to fond the arts. There are plenty of street art. Try to find each and every art. It’s actually worth it and you will get a good picture to post in social media.
This is a cool tourist destination that I visited my last day in Penang. There are many vendors and tourists. My visit was too short.
Interesting place and it's free! Unfortunately we didn't have a lot of time to spend here as we had to catch a noon flight home. I would suggest to come before 9AM when you have the whole area for yourself. Starting 9-ish, there are buses unloading tons of tourists (and not all tourists are polite and considerate to others). Many beautiful wall arts/ murals. Highly recommend!
