In Sia Boey's urban embrace, Where history whispers through each space, I wandered on an evening's grace, Amidst the remnants of time's embrace. Once a vibrant hub, bustling and grand, Sia Boey stood as Penang's heart, hand in hand, A market square where cultures entwined, Trade and life's tapestry uniquely aligned. Now, a haven for those seeking respite, Sia Boey Urban Archaeological Park, a delight, Strolling amidst echoes of the past, A tranquil escape from city's fast. Ancient bricks and fragments worn, Tell tales of eras since long gone, As I sauntered beneath shaded trees, Imagination danced with each gentle breeze. The air hummed with a bygone tale, Of merchants, artisans, a vibrant trail, And in this moment, I could feel, The whispers of history, surreal. With each step, the park unveiled, Layers of stories, carefully veiled, A symphony of cultures interlaced, In Sia Boey's memory, embraced. As the evening sun began to wane, A sense of wonder did remain, For in Sia Boey's hallowed ground, A legacy of the past I found. So, dear friend, your evening walk, In Sia Boey's embrace, let history talk, Let the park's enchantment guide your way, As you wander through its ancient display.

Unit and only one park can found in Penang Georgetown area. Environment was clean and beautiful, guess can bring kids enjoy the playground and see the live fish in the pond. Adult also can take a rest and calm down in this green area. Recommended place for everyone and tourist.

Used to be one of the dirtiest river back then, but it has now transformed into a clean river, with crystal clear water, and even fishes can survive. Kudos to the local authorities and Penangites. It's a small and leisure park, suitable for evening walks. Nice place. Worth visiting. Parking can be difficult. But there's a private parking area right behind the park, and it costs RM3.

This can be a prototype for other Malaysian cities how to reserve the heritage building and turn it to urban public space. My kid love this place, the playground, the fish, it’s a small green lung in Georgetown. But the abandoned Shoplots at the center still closed with hoarding, it seem might take longer time to complete the entire project.

It is good to see how the place has been renovated and revamped to a great and modern looking urban park with a playground, a marketplace with occasional events and a canal, with the old trees retained. Also, it is located in the middle of Georgetown, just walking distance from Komtar and 1st Avenue. Nice place to hangout and have a walk.

This place is simply amazing. The canal has been transformed from highly polluted canal into a fresh water canal with fishes. Highly recommend to pay a visit here.

Great effort by the state government and parties involved to convert this historical site into a recreational park, complete with a playground and paved walkways, yet maintaining the canal, grand old trees and structures.

So far its fun for my kids to play. Only problem is parking area not convenient. Further more the slide is dark inside even though there's a light on the top of the structure.

This park is quite suitable for kids to play around even at night because its area is very well and proper lighting for kids and parents to monitor their children. On the facility, the high sliding board is not as smooth as we can imagine. The height is there but the smoothness is not really kids friendly. They keep getting stuck at some level before reaching the ground. On the other hand, the park has next to nothing to guard the safety of the kids from going across the street near the park. It only has some small trees that keep this 'function' of preventing kids from crossing over to the street. Parents need to beware of their children for this issue.

Nice to take photos here Very beautiful hand-drawn lanterns decorates along the walk way of this park garden. Understand there might have some bugs, ants around but this is definitely worth a walk. Be careful on cars and motorcycles at the crowded main roadway just beside this park garden. Introverts might feel uncomfortable to take photo here. Well...just walk abit and find your comfort zone. I felt a bit reluctant to leave this dreamland

A nice place to walk in the town. A good place to unwind and relax. Former canal has been turned into a long pond with lots of fishes. Calm and relaxing even though surrounded by roads with heavy traffic. With good trees and garden, you can't really feel the stress of traffic around you. This place is well kept and clean. Such place is really in need for a busy town.

Its clean, playground is good for kids 5 years and above because the main slide is quite high and parents not allowed to enter. So for safety reason make sure your kids are capable to go up by themselves. View is much better at night with lights from the paper balloon.

Partly completed. Nice restoration. However. I don’t feel safe due to the homeless people and wanderers. Keep thinking about safety as there aren’t many people around.

Beautiful park thanks to the lamps hanging all over the park. Each of the lamp is unique, non of two are entirely same. However, mosquitos are quite ferocious. Downside is the park is surrounded by a busy area, traffic is a headache.

This is a good redevelopment of the Sia Boey area. There is a playground for kids to enjoy. The playground is built sturdy and maintained well by the city council MBPP. Kudos to them. The disadvantage is lack of parking around the area. There is no public restroom in the vicinity. It is within walking distance to 1st Avenue mall.

📍Sia Boey Urban Archaeological Park The first of its kind in Penang, Sia Boey is public park based on the conservation of remnants and memories of what the original Sia Boey Market was with, with Prangin Canal serving as a waterway. 🌊 In the previous years, Prangin Canal was infamously remembered for its rubbish strewn dirty waters. ❌ With conservation projects at hand, just admire the lovely 'koi' fishes in these exact same waters! 🐠🐡🐟 Lanterns are strung up everywhere, and it makes for such a lovely sight, be in day or night. 🏮🏮 I'm proud to see Penang working on such conservation projects. Kudos to this project! #sapotlokal #penang #georgetown #heritagecity

A very nice park to visit especially during the night. The river is so clear you can see the fish(ikan koi) even at night. The hot air balloon lights are so pretty. A good place to hang around and take pictures. Clean park too.

Love the fish-filled drains (or ponds?), the trees - especially that big one in the middle with hanging roots, clean walkways, active CCTV monitoring and its location of conveniently situated just opposite the malls. It’s an extremely good effort to encourage a cleaner, greener and safer Penang. Although the park is kinda small (some parts are still under construction), it’s always nice to see kids and families thoroughly enjoy the new recreational spot. Oh the stone lounge chairs (?) are weird though.

Used to come here a lot before pandemic, nowadays only on occasional visit. My daughter loves playing at the playground especially the slide. Scenic at night with the lanterns on display. The park could be quite warm when there's no blowing breeze. Parking could be tricky sometimes as parking nearby is limited.

Sia Boey Urban park is awesome! I’m really glad that this area will develop into a really beautiful place! We had it acting as the departure and return station for our company team building. If you wanna use it for non business related matters, you just need a phone call over the Penang Development Centre to just inform them. If electricity is needed, a formal request is needed to be submitted in writting to PDC. So you may enjoy it free of charge. Really awesome place. Nice to have it.
