Luckily there was no queue when we came here, saw other reviews stated that usually there's a queue. The coffee was quite good. And it was cheaper compared to others. Definitely worth a visit here. The aunty was very friendly. Only take away is allowed now. There was a sticker on the plastic bag, and the aunty said the face on the sticker was how she looked like when she was young.

A must visit for coffee lovers who are looking for a local coffee brew that serve nothing over the top but the coffee is just tasty in its own simple way. The kawness, the sweetness, the presentation are just right. Had hot coffee which was humbly priced below RM3, served in a plastic bag or 'ikat tepi' but you can ask for it to be served in a cup for just a few cents. And the overall vibe of the place really gave me some nostalgic feelings. Worth the hype!

All the way here for their coffee, it is very "kaw" that coffee lovers will like it. I tried the kopi susu and surprisingly it came with a simple coffee art. However, the shop was not open for dine in when we visited.

Local people have been coming here for her and ‘her flair’ in whipping up coffee years before Starbucks came to town! Her coffee is Super smooth, Super creamy and best of all it is Super affordable at RM1.50 for a cup of hot coffee (my preference) and RM2 for a cold glass. She can froth up your Choco Milo if you like. Sweetness can be personalized to your taste. ....but prepare to wait long long for more than half hour. Watch her deft moves and one of a kind coffee-drama to whiles away your time lol.

The drinks are so delicious. We tried the famous 4, cham ice, neslo ice, and also teh+milo. Everything is soooo good. We're lucky since we came on weekdays, so don't really have to wait. The drinks are very cheap as well. And love auntie's personality

Let me help: - "Starbright" is "Kopi Peng Famous Aunty" - no they won't serve your coffee in a plastic bag like you see in some pictures(unless you ask..) - Milo is Hot Chocolate, and it's delicious. - Kopi C = white coffee(Kopi Susu) - Kopi O = black coffee - (S) = Small / (B) = Big , I think (S) is enough!

Super good coffee! We just drove past and saw a long queue outside this shop. Out of curiosity, we decided to give it a try! This is actually a stall within a corner shop, serving amazing coffee. The barista is actually an aunty who with her skills, makes great coffee. You can also customize your preferred flavours. We tried the signature kopi ice, which my daughter said is better than Starbucks coffee! And I agreed too..The aroma and taste is very rich and kaw, and the sweetness is just perfect. Not too sweet..Heard the best is the combination of kopi+milo+tea+nescafe..but we did not try. Judging from the long queue, this must be a very popular place among locals..It is worth stopping here for a sip of coffee, you can either take away or even dine in.

Not sure why people loved the coffee so much. I find it to be thicker than normal. There are other kopitiams with such thick coffee too in Penang. I tried the kopi susu packet (RM2.50) and 4 rasa - kopi+teh+milo+nescafe (RM7).

Only takeaway available. The coffee is strong and kicks well. The lady boss is friendly. Do support this heritage business which makes coffee latte with a coffee bag. :)

A humble place to enjoy a cup of authentic kopi topped With a star on the foam. Enjoy your kopi with simple breakfast of toast and eggs that can never go wrong.

KOPI+TEH is delicious. The drink is very large in quentity! If you choose take away option, you will receive this plastic bag.

RM2.70 only and u can get a super kaw ice coffee at 4pm…. seriously?? plus you are allowed to adjust the sweetness according to your preference…. i’d be perfect if they have something to munch on too for tea time

Good to drink since it is located at old stall, still good taste and great texture in the ice cup.

Nicest coffee I’ve had in Penang. So tasty and lady working/owner was so nice. No queue & so cheap.

  • 5/5 Nikalia k. 11 months ago on Google
They only open for take away. Conversing with aunty there why didn't open for dine in - mentioned that not enough energy to cater for dine in option. She prefer take away order. Come around afternoon, coz in the morning, tend to have long queue for the coffee. Our hotel - Citadine connect is just next to the coffee shop. Drank this coffee for 4 days straight.

Takeaway only. No signature sticker for me, but its fine haha. RM2.70 for a big bag of milk coffee is pretty affordable (from a tourist pov). A bit strong for me, maybe iced is the better option. But really worth a try if you like local Malaysian coffee/kopi.

Still one of the best kopi / teh! Always will stop by here when I am in Penang. Must must try! Very friendly owner as well!

Very friendly uncle. Very nice kopi~ asking for very little sweet only and it really taste good!!! Initially wanted to share with mom, but after she tried then she order new one directly 🤣

I like the toast, it has slight margarine taste combine with less sweet srikaya jam. The smell is so good. Also ordered Teh Susu and I requested it to be less sweet. The auntie is so kind, fast and energetic, she even ask me to try to taste it first for the Teh Susu to make sure it’s acceptable for me. Overall, great brunch!

I found a gem right in front of the hotel - she's known as the famous "KopiPeng Aunty" on Google Maps. She used to sell beverages with her pushcart, catering exclusively to tabao orders. However, a month ago, she rented a small coffee shop named Starbright to meet the increasing demand for dine-in options. I'm not a fan of milk, so I stick to my black coffee with toastbox. True to its name, not only is her food phenomenal, but she and her assistant are also sincere and friendly. Their excellent service has elevated our patronage to another level.

If you don't regularly have sweetened drinks/are habituated to bitter coffee at home, just ask for no sugar with the Kopi Susu as the condensed milk will be sweet enough by itself. The value is great especially with the large size.

This coffee seller is a kind of place with long tradition. Somehow still famous, yet does not seem to fit new buyers who have certain expectation. The main annoying thing for me is, even in Aug. 2023 still doesn't offer on site dining. It means you can only buy drinks for take away. So it's no longer like before where you can sit and enjoy toast bread and coffee for breakfast. Now about the main thing: The Coffee. The coffee is indeed too sweet. That they write Kopi O / Americano is more surprising if you expect black americano coffee. However the uncle (the aunty wasn't there at the time of visit) was friendly. He shaked / frothed the milk manually, and prepare the coffee into the cup, then add the typical star mark on the foam. This of course not possible if you choose the plastic with ikat tepi. In overall, a unique place to visit if coincidentally near by. And don't take things personally, then you can enjoy it even more.

The offer only take away instead of dine in. Additional charge for cup take away and they will draw a star for you. The aunty that make coffee will give you good wishes and you need to accept it by answering 'good'.

  • 4/5 HKim 10 months ago on Google
Came 2 days in a row. Order when the uncle is doing instead of the aunty. The milo and coffee seems watered down when we ordered the second time made by the aunty only sell drinks. been selling here for many years. Cash Only. Parking seems difficult.

Excellent coffee that represent the Penang taste of Kopi-O and Kopi (with condensed milk). Strong coffee lover will love it!!

  • 4/5 Khoo J. 4 years ago on Google
Go for the original hot kopi susu which goes well with the toast bread. I would prefer the 'kaw' & bitter taste. Find it on the sweet side .Will make special request next time. Is self service, so have to Q up, but service is fast. Coffee lady is friendly & cheerful. Unfortunately laksa stall is close when I visit. Heard that laksa is good.

My favourite coffee maker in town. Love her coffee very much. Some say the taste little but sweet but you can adjust the taste that suit you. Just ask aunty and she will be glad to make it for you.

Friendly boss n helpful. Just a quick stop for their coffee. Drank the famous coffee ice. Forgot to take a pic before gulping it down

Great amazing special coffee that is a must try for coffee lovers all around. The coffee here is very thick so don’t ask for less ice. The only thing about the coffee is that it is a little too sweet so be sure to ask for less sweet or if you don’t like sweet ask for without sugar. There is a little bit of parking at the lane beside the stall. The aunty is also friendly and nice.

Surprising! I didn't expect the kaw-ness & the quality of this kopi. Definitely better than Bungkus Kaw Kaw kopi (if you have tried). The price was RM2.50 /Bungkus. Where got this price anymore?

Coffee super sweet, not kaw enough.

Discovered this lil’ kopi store back in 2018 and since then, I’ve always made it a point to get kopi ice here whenever I’m in Penang. It used to be called Star Coffee back then, however it has rebranded after the MCO. The taste is still kaw and the price is still affordable for the amount of coffee in the bungkus plastic ( pic inaccurate as I’ve taken a few sips) Love this so much and would recommend people to try it out!

Nice local coffee. Not crowded and place to cool down with the ice coffee or milo.. the bread is nice too

  • 4/5 Jing Pei L. 5 years ago on Google
recommended by one of the hotel staff to try this out. little trouble in finding the place as there is a long queue for the coffee.. fragrant but a little too sweet for my liking. still worth a go if you are looking for something traditional and local
