This hotel has a perfect location, but that's about it. It's rated 4* but in actual fact feels more like 2*. We were a group of 10 and had 2 family rooms (4 sleepers) and 1 double room. One of the family rooms only had 2 towels for a family of 4. There was however, random underwear found in said room from previous occupants. The double room had no toilet paper, the other family room had a roll of toilet paper which had enough on the roll for one user; no drinking water or water for the kettle to make tea/coffee. The bathroom had black mould on the ceiling, which indicates no or very poor ventilation. The telephones are a waste as you cannot even ring the front desk. The floors are tiled and very cold, they really should consider putting a rug in the rooms to create an illusion of warmth. The shower is connected/set up incorrectly - red indicator is actually the cold water and vice-versa. One keycard worked on both family rooms. The beds are short and very hard - if you're tall, your feet will hang-over. The breakfast buffet was not 4* quality. The elevator is not operational so one is expected to carry luggage up the stairs. The staff were friendly but that didn't detract from the fact that the hotel needs a serious change, particularly on the maintenance side of things.

Booked here for November, but I fairly promptly received the message there were some details about the reservation they couldn’t guarantee? What details? And they also said “will do our best to accommodate you”. If a hotel can’t guarantee accommodation then I have promptly cancelled my booking.

Simple and clean hotel. Rooms are spacious but furniture and fittings are old. Staff is nice so is good for group tours. Location is good. Ocean facing balcony. Spa therapy is done by good professionals. Overall budget hotel not a 4 star resort

Perhaps best location in world, we went with Gem Travels to South Africa world class tour, we selected it because they provide stay at point hotel. Food was yummy, even jain was superb, our hotel served free flow cocktails everyday, spa was just fabulous, location: would have given 7 star if option available, we can listen to sound of waves while sleeping on bed, sky colors over ocean was amazing, light house was just next door, we swimmed at lovely tidal pool. Very very unique experience. I recommend whole world: don’t listen to anyone, go there, stay there, you will have different energy level,we travel so much but this was beyond words

The hotel was decent; however, it most certainly was not up to the quality of a 4 star hotel. It was more akin to that of a 2/3 star. The staff were kind and helpful and the breakfast spread was comprehensive. Although, the facilities were very poorly kept as there were plenty of broken/ dysfunctional windows, air-conditioners,doors, levers etc. The elevator is also out of use, and apparently it has been so for a sustained period of time.

Do NOT let the view fool you. Location is so good, but possibly the worst ‘hotel’ ever Perfect for a horror story location Upon arrival, went to use the toilet, leaned on the basin to remove my shoes and the entire thing collapsed Got a new room, AC doesn’t work, all windows dirty, actually NOTHING worked Didn’t have water the next morning to shower, had to inform them to switch water on Room service - don’t even bother All the food is bad bad bad Breakfast one big disappointment Overall - should close its doors

Do NOT let the location and views of this hotel fool you. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. Stepping into our room, it reeked of cigarette smoke and was not clean. The balcony sliding door was a mission to close and open and could not lock. The balcony itself was dirty with cigarette butts on the floor. Coffee Station was pathetic with one sachet coffee for 2 people. No provision made for loadshedding. The bathroom was disgusting. Upon using the bidet spray the water started gushing out the bottom fitting and floor was flooded. The towels smelled like it was not dried properly. The shower gel looked and smelled like rot. Fittings in the bathroom were rusted or broken. The bedding was dirty. The lift has been out of order for at least a year. Staff are friendly but not trained. This is absolutely unacceptable and disgusting. Definitely NOT 4 star. More like 1 star.

This hotel is disgusting. I would rather stay at the Formula 1 before ever placing my feet in this hotel again. Please don't let the location and photographs on their website fool you. It is a disgrace that they are even allowed to open their doors. Mossel Bay won't be seeing me again. And as for the owners, you hotel is so dirty, I am actually starting to itch as I am typing this message. Please explain how you obtained a 4 star rating

We had a pre wedding party at this lovely hotel, All 80 guests went mad after the party, each one loved amazing location, the best services, unbelievable cuisines,All had a great spa, smallest details were planned by management. I felt we had India came alive in Mossel Bay.

This establishment only caters for the International Indian market, as per staff's words. They offer you breakfast included but that is mainly specially catered Indian foods, basic breakfast for those who are not wanting to eat spicy foods are never filled up and if you go for breakfast after 08:00 there is basically nothing left. Nothing is done to present hygienic meals, flies all over the place. We had dinner one evening, next morning the same mess was still under the table. We had three rooms, they were not exceptionally clean on arrival, feet marks against the walls. Upon returning after 13:00 on one of the days, the rooms had not been cleaned yet and the cups were visible just rinsed under the tap and placed back, not even washed. Repulsive. Smell of mildew is strong and obvious, paired with the lack of maintenance, one tv did not work at all. Only Bollywood channels available. On requesting toilet paper the answer was that they don't have any to give. Towels we had to share as they don't have enough for the hotel. Horrible experience and we paid for a 4 star hotel.

We went to visit them during the week. The staff are friendly and the location is absolutely beautiful. Housekeeping is lacking quite a bit. Rooms are not on par with what you would expect for the price you pay. Our bathroom door did not work and the bed was incredibly uncomfortable. Curtains need replacing, toilet brush holder was very dirty, mold in bathroom and curtains, empty plastic container inside our bathroom drawer that must have been left there by someone else but never cleaned out. We really had a lovely time but I do feel the hotel does need an upgrade and better housekeeping as the rates are not cheap.

What a stay; it seems things has regressed since my last visit, basic things did not work, both air-conditioniners did not work, there was no kettle at the coffee station, only you tubed worked. The manager Daniel was called however his in the wrong job, he should be in the circus. What a waste of time. Anyway let's see how breakfast ends tomorrow morning. No idea of service.

Very unprofesional, we booked our Christmas dinner with them, they confirmed on email that our booking is secured, when we get there there was no one, only the receptionist, she said there is no Chrismas dinner, but we have the email that confirms our booking. We ended up at home eating toasted sandwiches for Chistmas because all the other places was fully booked by then! Will never recomend them at all!

We took a couple of honeymoon suite rooms for our stay. The rooms were large and clean with great views. The property does need a refurbishment, but for one night we had a good experience. Bathroom was huge. Internet was OK but TV in both rooms was unwatchable and strangely seemed to both be set in store/ retail mode.

Rooms were clean but the sea rusts everything including the door frames, tapes etc. and it is everywhere Fantastic location let down by steep prices for what you get. A pretty average hotel with horrible breakfast. Only reason for 3 stars is the location. I would feel ecstatic to pay their prices of the rooms were better maintained and they had a good breaki.

The view is great, but they don’t have dedicated parking so during peak periods it’s first come first serve with hundreds of beach goers, the bath had no plug (water saving effort?) the paint was pealing off the ceiling, the view was amazing but you cant enjoy it from your balcony as all the chairs and aircons are rusted so you risk needing a tetanus shot. We cancelled our booking on arrival and walked out.

The location fantastic, the buffet breakfast so not worth it for R 145, food bland, and limited and basic, no atmosphere, no proper juice, feels like a dining hall that's it, bathrooms dirty. So I really don't know how this hotel is 4 star,

The views on the internet and other agencies websites are not true to what you receive. A mere R900 cheaper than a presidential suite at a beautiful hotel down the road... No curtains in the lounge, other curtains off the rails... The chairs on the balcony cannot be used... The chairs at the kitchen nook needs a new coat of paint Screws all over the place in walls with no wall art hung. No extractor fans in bathrooms...the ceilings are full if mold The beds are terrible...long overdue to be replaced. I add photos as evidence of what to expect... The generator fumes are very strong in the rooms. It's a hotel but no coffee service?? Horrible...horrific...for R2290 per night...daylight robbery.

If your expectations is Low Then it's the perfect place !! Not Wheelchair friendly as Advertised. Bedding is old, The room smelt of mildew. There was not enough towels Even the second day we had to remind them of towels & Ask for toilet paper. There was water from the aircon on the Balcony that made it very slippery. Breakfast was very basic. Not all staff was friendly......not a nice experience at All . Will seriously not recommend this hotel at All

Absolutely poorly serviced. Staff was so tired due to under staffing issues or NO or minimal training. The managers of some sort were very unfriendly.. we waited long for orders. The waiter was barman as well. We had to carry our bags up 4 flights of stairs due to a lift that has not been working since the beginning 2022. We ordered cocktails, and the waiter said that had NO lemons. It just went on and on.. The kettle stains on the front of it ..so dirty, I cleaned it throughout before making coffee for myself and my partner..the cushions as you can see from the photo I took. Mirror was not wiped at all 😳 On the day when we were about to check out, we were asked for the booking deposit from (admin position)🤔. We were not asked about this when checking in, although our reservation was fully paid before arrival. On our travels to another beachfront hotel in Plettenberg, the quality of service was impeccable. Soooo, I will NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. Absolutely disgusted.

The room view is outstanding but stay only on floors 4 or 5. The restaurant food standard for dinner is way below par. There is no hotel generator so loadshedding messed up my evening. Breakfast was also bland and the restaurant has no atmosphere. It's just a plain dining room.

Best overnight stay ever! Friendliest staff always ready to help with a smile. I would recommend this place 100000000 times over. Also thank you for the special lady who upgraded our room to give us a view that we will never forget.

Sad to say this hotel has so much potential but old, outdated rooms, mold on curtains, not cleaned properly. The bath/shower water was brown. Breakfast this morning was nice but nothing spectacular. Disappointed!!

The stuff service is of a five star quality they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable.. The view from our room 306 was perfect coffee while watching dolphins on sea… breakfast full continental looking forward to the cappuccino machine that could be of better coffee. On the menu try the curry dish you won’t regret it. Few upgrade touches would make this hotel unbeatable… Cleanliness - 4/5 When booking Ask for Sydney, Mzi or Tracy 🙂

Enjoyed the stay there. Bit disappointing the breakfast. Just not what I'm used to. We always stay at 17 on wellington and the breakfast there always tip top. The spa was really good. Had a foot pedi and the lady did an excellent job 👏

We ate at the restaurant... Worst service ever! The waitress couldn't explain a dish on the menu. She went to ask the chef, and still couldn't tell if it was meat or vegetables. My food came first and when I finished two thirds, my husband's steak was still missing in action. At last it arrived, but then there was no steak knife! I got the impression that the waitress didn't receive any training at all. Normally I don't give a rating if I can't give 5 stars. But I can't keep quiet about this. Sorry.

False presentation on the website. The Wellness does not offer everything it advertises, no nails done, no partner massages. The lift does not function. The coffee machine is broken. Wifi only works occasionally. Two nights in a row a bed was without sheets, just the raw mattress. We complained and nothing was fixed. The water was brown when you fill the bath tub.

  • 1/5 Estie k. 2 years ago on Google
Unhappy! Wasn’t worth the money. Inexperienced therapist. It was not a massage it was more like oil treatment. Felt uncomfortable and not relaxed at all. Focus points to improve business • preparation before massage (clients condition, health form, products being used, pressure points etc.) • mood, • keep to time session (1hr is not 36min) • survey for improvements “ Preparation for each client's massage is an important part of providing a massage that is in tune with your clients' needs and creating an experience that makes your clients seek you out again and again.”

NOT A 4*, MORE LIKE A 2* Not worth the location. We checked in around 4:30 pm wanting to use the advertised Spa Tub and then have dinner, but all amenities were closed, including the kitchen and bar for dinner and drinks. When we got to the room, it did not have the shower/tub combo as advertised, it was dirty, and the furniture was sparse; looks more like a student dorm room than a hotel room. We quickly realized the hotel was not as advertised and decided to leave. The front desk clerk promised the manager would call, and we would receive a refund, but the manager never called, and after contacting the hotel many times and being given the run around for five months, we have never received the refund. The manager is shady and very unprofessional. We ended up staying at Protea Hotel by Marriott Mossel Bay Instead, which was amazing!

A beautiful property with mesmerizing views of the ocean and lighthouse. Superbly maintained property inspite of being so close to the shore. The Indian breakfast served was awesome and beyond expectations abroad.would recomend all Indian tourist to stay at this property for a wonderful experience of Indian hospitality.

We booked in and paid for 2 nights at the hotel on 12 March 2022. The balcony was dirty on arrival. On our way out for lunch, I informed reception that the bidet was not working. It was not fixed and neither did I get feedback on it. While we were at dinner another receptionist phoned to say we did not pay for the room. One of the pillowcases was dirty and the one they brought me even more so. I asked the lady that brought the pillowcase if we could have bath sheets please. She just did not return. There is mold on the wall paper. The blinds in the bathroom can not close properly. Breakfast is not up to standard...... Need I go on. I left banking details for a refund of the night we didn't stay. I have mailed the manager a few time. I'm still waiting....

Dont judge the book with fancy covers . Poor Hotel quality, needs a *lot of maintenance* if want to upgrade, beds with fungus , stinking blankets / carpets etc etc . outside view is awesome . Worst Spa ever seen , Disappointing Gem Tour…. There are many other option … not recommended.

This was a little upsetting situation. My visit had a few Pros & Cons to mention. Service from staff which were helpful and friendly was good. The view and sound of the ocean from great. The breakfast was satisfyingly nice. The little problems were things like toilet rolls were not in the room, and the staff didn't have any in the storeroom. The mildew on the bathroom ceiling was shocking, the towels smelt like they were used by the spa, the floors were slippery, no secure parking. My sister's family were in another room and they had similar issues. My folks were allocated a room on the top floor, but the lift was broken apparently for months. My folks are old so climbing 4 flights of stairs wasn't going to happen. My list of CONS can go on, but I'll leave it at this. I'm not sure how they are able to have 4 star accreditation, where I felt it was maybe a low 3.

Hotel has stunning views. Love the soft sheets. Cleaning of the rooms should be improved and the Spa needs a revamp

  • 3/5 Tom T. 1 year ago on Google
It is ok for the price. Think of it as an upmarket hostel and you will get the picture. It is a bit shoddy, but reasonably clean. Staff are very nice and friendly and breakfast is large and tasty. Lift / Elevator and the spa were both out of service in Nov 2022. The location is incredible, you'd struggle to get this close to the seashore elsewhere! Not recommended.

We had the worst experience at this hotel. This is not a 4star quality hotel. Towels are removed from the room daily but not replaced. We had to request for towels amongst other amenities everyday and the room was not cleaned. The telephone did not work so we could not call reception. Shower door did not close, shower door rubbers removed and left aside looking very disgusting with grime. The bathroom door did not close full, light in the room did not work. TV did not work most of the time. We had to wait for someone from reception to open the room for us everyday/everytime we want to go back to the room because the room key did not work. The Hotel Manager was no where to be found. When we eventually got to address the issues with the hotel manager, he was not helpful and indicated that the issues are not within his control. PLEASE DO NOT book/stay at this hotel. Contact me if you want pics of the bathroom condition.

Fantastic views. Hotel management conspicuous in its absence. Dining poor, service worse. Breakfast buffet good. Parking non existent. Reception poor. Rooms mediocre. Hopelessly overpriced in season.

Great location, friendly staff, beautiful location with amazing sea views..awesome buffet breakfast..efficient waiters/chef.. loved our stay. Hotel rooms needs a little TLC. Extra care and supervision on housekeeping especially.. no secure parking- can be problematic at times. Otherwise a great experience. I will most definitely book again.

Serious cleaning up needs to be done. Bathroom. Shower door hinges, phone doesnt work. Plugs, no water in room. No coffee or milk for the next day. Will not even give a half star.
