It was one of the most beautiful experiences in South Africa. The animals, the accommodation! The family that welcomed us was so kind! The rooms are very clean, the kitchen is well-equipped and has everything you need. We did the Elephant Walk and Game, and it was simply amazing! The accommodation is so perfect that I received a marriage proposal in the evening πŸ™ˆ Watching animals right outside our window early in the morning was an incredible experience. The fact that the animals even looked back at us was just too funny πŸ˜‚ What more could one wish for? We wish future guests - enjoy your stay! This place is a must-visit in SA! And we wish the host all the best in the future! Your accommodation will remain in our hearts forever πŸ€—

Arina and Gerhard and their son were the perfect hosts. The accomodation was very well prepared, with all possible amenities (within reason). The sunset gamedrive was great, the terrain is extremely varied with a bunch of different species (elephant, rhino, giraffe, zebra, kudu, antilope, springbok, hartebees and many more). Arina and Gerhard also assisted in finding a local physician to help solve an urgent medical problem. Cannot recommend enough, would give 6, or even 7 stars if I could. Will definitely visit again.

This was really a great experience. The owners and guides were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and insightful. Their love for the animals and land is apparent and this is obvious when the animals are so comfortable being so close to human contact. This experience at Indalu makes a person realize how thankful we should be to be able to live in such a beautiful part of the world and have people like these taking care of it and sharing it with us. You will most definately be seeing us again. Wishing you all the best. Bart and Karen Oosthuizen

Wonderful Elephant Experience!! I have visited many game reserves in South Africa, and this was a much more personal and welcoming visit than others I have been to. I took my 2 young daughters and my dad and we felt very comfortable and welcomed. There was no rush, it did not feel 'touristy', and the young man who lead the experience was friendly, kind and answered all our questions well and obviously has a lot of knowledge about the animals and plants there. Next time I would definitely also book a safari drive. Very family friendly. Highly recommend!

First of all, I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Arina, the owner of Indalu Game Reserve for allowing my wife Annerine and me to make an impromptu booking, literally an hour before we did the walk with the elephants activity at their beautiful and picturesque game reserve! Rohan, our guide was just as friendly and knowledgeable about the wildlife on the reserve. He made us feel special and welcome right from the very start. As we set out for our adventure with the elephants, we were treated to a whole range of wildlife from Buffalo, to Rooibok, Springbok, Zebras, Eland, Giraffe, and off course, our hiking partners, the two male elephants. One 19 years of age, and the other 28 years of age. I can only remember the name of my elephant. The name of my elephant was Moketsi and the name of Annerine's elephant was Bakari. What majestic animals. Moketsi was the older of the two elephants and a bit larger than Bakari. Our guides also were very knowledgeable about Moketsi and Bokari and told us a lot of facts that we didn't know about these beautiful creatures. After about a kilometre hike, walking side-by-side with our elephants, and stopping along the way for some pictures, we arrived at and open plain where we were given the opportunity to interact with our elephants by feeding them some fresh vegetables. All I can say is that the experience is truly amazing and life-changing. We city folk never really get to appreciate the majesty of God's creation until we get the rare opportunity to interact with some of the most powerful and biggest animals in His kingdom! Thank you, Rohan. You made the day one that we will always remember, and one that we will invite some of our closest friends to come and experience with us. But next time we would like to stay over in the secluded lodges to add to an already unforgettable experience! Fond regards, Ryno & Annerine Bruwer

First of all: We would love to come back! Very nice welcome and very beautiful location. The family is very concerned that the guests are well. The location of the Indalu Game Reserve is beautiful. Everything was done to make sure we had an unforgettable stay. As I said, always helpful and friendly! The elephant walk was the absolute highlight! The guides took lots of pictures and answered every question we had. They also pay a lot of attention to animal welfare, no mass tourism and no use of whips or sticks. The animals run free and unrestrained with us.... To be recommended again and again!

Amazing experience! We're so glad we didn't miss it. We did the sunset Safari drive with Arina in November. We initially hesitated to book it since we were going to Kruger next. Now that we've done both, we are so glad we decided to go to Indalu. Arina is a wonderful person who took excellent care of us. The game reserve is beautiful and the game viewing was everything we had hoped. Sunset is a wonderful time to visit. There is a beautiful lookout where we stopped to have wine and watch the animals graze in the distance. I only wish we'd rented a cabin to spend the night; it looks amazing.

We enjoyed the professional yet warm and friendly way we were treated. Walking and feeding the gentle gaints will be one of the top 3 experiences for our exchange student's stay here in in the Southern Cape. Looking forward to sharing this experience with some other guests too.

Best Safari experience at Indalu - worth every penny! We were welcomed really friendly by Arina and offered to let our son sleep a bit longer in the car - the team would be happy to wait before departing to ensure he has a good time and won't be too tired (as we were a small group this was feasible). During the wait we already got a bunch of information on the reserve, which was bought in 2008 and soon after opened its doors to the public. Soon Rohan, one of the 2 sons, picked us up in a Safari Jeep and brought us to see plenty of animals in their natural habitat: Elephants, giraffes, ostrich, rhinos with a 2 month old rhino baby 🦏, impalas and many other animals from the "bocks" family. It was great fun sitting in front of the Jeep on an extra seat and being right in nature. The Elephant feeding was relaxed and fun mixed with some interesting facts. After a small Picknick we finished the safari with a beautiful sunset (even though we hadn't even booked the sunset tour in particular) and everyone on the tour was really happy with all the impressions and experiences. Thanks Indalu Family for making this experience so authentic, gentle with the animals, non-intrusive and enjoyable for all guests

We went for the elephant feeding time, it was about 45 mins to an hour long experience. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. They only had 2 elephants on the reserve. We went with another group while they fed while we waited then we fed while they waited then we got individual photos and group photos for both group, hopped back in the vehicle and ended our experience. The experience for a group of 7 adults and 1 child cost around $352. It was an enjoyable experience however it was very expensive compared to other reserves.

My wife and I took our 18 month old to see the elephants. We only came for the day and did not stay at the guesthouses on the reserve. We signed up for the elephant experience and the game drive. He loved it and so did we. Hanro was our guide and he shared a wealth of information about the animals and the reserve. We all had a great time and will be going back again.

Did the elephant interaction: - Such friendly owners, really treated everyone with great care - The drive to go and meet the elephants was almost a mini safari. Got to see a wide range of animals. - The elephants were so well looked after - Got to feed them and interact with them. The walk is recommended if you want to interact with them more. Great value for money. Definitely recommend it.

If you need a place to get off the grid and enjoy nature while still being pampered, you have to visit Indalu. Within 10 minutes of arriving at the cabins, we asked if it would be alright to stay longer! Thankfully, Arina obliged allowing us to enjoy the reserve as long as we could. The location is surreal, 800 hectares, just to myself, my wife and the animals. The unforgettable experiences started with being surprised by buffalos while making my morning coffee, then having a staring contest with Jack and Jill (the giraffes) and of course the necessary game drive with Rohan. It was great to hear about the story and ethos with which this great family takes care of these animals, doing right by the animals that are indigenous to the area. Many thanks to Arina and Rohan, regardless of how much brandy was consumed, we will never forget our stay and can't wait to come back with family and friends.

2 coworkers and myself had been out all day shark cage diving and had booked a night a indalu. We were tired. But infectious fun loving attitude if the owner and his son brought us back to life immediately. The food was incredible, the accommodations were completely off the charts and the all around feel was indescribable. We sat around the fire, had drinks and talked till after midnight. Waking up in such a secluded spot and then realizing your in africa?! I will never ever forget this experience. Thank you to the owner and his son for the best time ever. Im embarrassed i cant remember their names!

What a FANTASTIC experience! I am South African and I wanted to give my Canadian boyfriend a wildlife experience like no other where we would get to walk with elephants. Well... Indalu did NOT disappoint! It was so good, my parents decided to do it too! The staff are great, very knowledgeable, as well as care for the animals and the environment. The elephants are gentle giants and it's wonderful to interact with them. I highly recommend Indalu!
