Fair priced small Museum offering a quiet retreat from the hustle & bustle of Main Street. Star attraction is the Moorish Bath remains. You have the option of turning your £5 ticket into an £8 one which gives you access to the Gorham’s Cave viewing platform (only when they open it). Wasn’t sure of my itinerary so I passed the opportunity.

No visit to Gibraltar would be complete without a visit to its museum. The museum itself is a warren of small rooms and narrow passages to which you gain entry by paying a paltry £2 (in 2017). Poorly lit artifacts in varnished cabinets, more reminiscent of an 18th Century Victorian gentleman's collection in his private study, belie the importance of what is on view. It is a world apart from the modern museums you may have visited in various cities - and long may it remain so. The museum is as anachronistic as Gibraltar itself.

I loved this little museum - it reflected Gibraltar….. a honeycomb of little rooms stuffed with artifices, tools, weapons but best of all, pictures and photos illustrating the history of Gibraltar. I particularly liked seeing how aspects of Gibraltar had changed over the years. Absolutely fascinating. I found out about Gorham’s Cave and was delighted to visit. I loved the way the water supplies had been exposed outside. No photos were allowed inside … disappointed there was not a brochure with photos etc … I thought the little shop could have been a bit more imaginatively stocked …. Trinkets and a few books covered in dust! I was, however, glad I found it ( eventually) and I spent 2-3 hours in there carefully watching the excellent videos. Would have appreciated clearer signage in the bathhouse.

Disappointed.. Closed National Gibraltar Day, maybe the whole weekend, the very days it should be open for the public to enjoy and learn. Very hard to see the building, tucked away down a side street, been there for years evidently, at the least they could put a flag up or a bigger display sign .. I wonder how many tourists have passed its doors. I give 1 star to draw their attention to this problem.. if the Museum would like comment positively, I will delete..

Definitely worth more than Five Stars. Superb museum covering Gibraltar through thousands and thousands of years. Audio visual presentations are first class, photographic records superb and archaeological finds are priceless. Entrance fee is ridiculously low, could easily be double and still worth every penny. It is a pity that the Heritage Society doesn't produce a book containing reproductions of the historical black and white photo's on display. I have no doubt it would sell and raise money towards the future work of the society. No visitor to Gibraltar should miss a visit here.

Very interesting place to visit, some good artifacts and a good selection of historical photos, for just a couple of pounds more you can also get admission to other historical sites, the basic entry ticket also allows entry to parsons lodge

It is a great place to know more about the history of Gibraltar. It includes exhibitions about the Paleolithic, the Moorish Period, the Siege of Gibraltar, and more. They do not allow you to take pictures or record any videos inside, so you must pay attention if you really want to learn something about this territory.

The Museum has quite a bit going for it. The Moorish baths in the basement and the impressive collection of paintings, drawings and photographs are not to be missed. A tour of other historical sites across Gibraltar is not complete without seeing the exhibits here. The staff are friendly, but please note no photos are allowed. A shame in this era.

You can spend around an hour or so if you take your time or maybe 30 mins if less interested. Entry is cheap there's a slightly more expensive ticket that also gets you entry to a cave or something. Lots of interesting historical artifacts and displays to get an insight to Gibraltar. Friendly staff and nice museum.

A small but interesting museum that shows the city's history from prehistorical times to WW2. It also has some baths from the Muslim period and a massive collection of ships in the top floor. The tickets are a bit expensive, though. Also, taking pictures and recording isn't allowed inside the museum.

Was delightful and much larger than expected. Some of the best kept Arab baths located inside. If you are local you get a cheaper entry. But well worth the amount to get in.

Great information from the beginning. The ‘statues’ were amazing. Incredible archaeological finds, and very well laid out for a smooth visit. Lots of well-made videos about history from ancient to almost modern eras. I would definitely recommend visiting if you have the chance.

Many of the artifacts lack context, and there's quite a bit of jumping around chronologically from room to room. There are models of ships, for instance -- that's fine, but then there's no placard discussing how any of the ships fit into Gibraltar's history, or even if they do.

A very interesting museum. We spend a good couple of hours wondering around in here. The layout is a bit odd as the exhibits don't seem to have any order to them when you walk around. Entry fee is £5 per person which we though was good value for the amount of history I this place. There is no parking close but plenty of parking around the town, gibralter is so small that you can walk from one end to the other in an hour or so.

Small museum but packed with information and artefacts. Staff are lively and so helpful. Worth the trip!

A bit shy on actual exhibits but interesting nevertheless, especially all the old photos and some old Pathe news clips about the Rock.

From the outside it doesn't look like much so expectations were low. However, it's much bigger inside than you expect and the exhibits really interesting and informative. Recommended

A very interesting museum detailing the history of Gibraltar- very much worth the entry price.

Nice and informative museum about the rich local history. Entry fee: 5 £ per person.

Very interesting place. It is not a huge building but it has lots packed into it. Lots of very interesting things to see and read about. Also there are little video clips showing at various point of the route through the house - where you can sit and watch I spent about an hour here . I can definitely recommend.

Definitely worth a visit - packed with exhibits spanning millennia, starting with the life-like reconstruction of Neanderthals. Entrance fee only 5€ making it worthwhile even if you are pressed for time. However, no photography permitted and also no booklets available in shop about the displays. So sadly, I can't tell you much more as I've forgotten most of it without having any reminders. But don't let that stop you visiting - in particular, see the 14C baths under the building which has had impressive conservation work to reveal the original construction.

Very interesting ,not to big so you can take your time to look around, well worth a visit

A small, but nice museum, that gives you the condensed story of a vast history. Really likable!

My fault, I expected a lot more. What was great were the medieval baths but the rest of exhibits were so-so with the exception of Neanderthal tools.

Surprisingly large! Entry was cheap at £5. Full history of gibraltar from neolithic remains to 20th century. Nice Moor Bath House remains in the cellar of the museum. The only thing which needs to be improved is better descriptions in the international exhibit room. They have a WW2 japanese officers sword simply labelled as 'katana'. Good for around 1-2 hours max.

Very bad tempered argumentative woman on front desk but if you're employed to stare into space for most of the day then that figures. Some items lack detailed description and the Mummy cask doesn't have any information at all ! It feels a lot smaller than last time we came. As if a lot of the display has been removed.

Interesting museum which features some exhibits showcasing the history of Gibraltar. I particularly enjoyed viewing the old drawings and photos of Gibraltar. You are not allowed to take photos inside the museum. Note that an adult ticket now costs GBP10 (which includes admission to Parson's Lodge, which we did not have time for). Those with a particular interest in archaeology or history and have time to spare after exploring the Gibraltar Nature Reserve can consider visiting this museum.
