This restaurant is conveniently located in the centre of the city really close to Queen Street train station. It's very stylish in every way possible; the decor, the presentation of the food and drink and even the way the staff dress. I recommend ordering one of the kebabs, because they are served hanging on a hook, and you are supposed to pour the chosen sauce or butter over it, until it drips down the meat and any excess lands on your fries. It actually looks much nicer than the way I am explaining it, and it's totally delicious. The cocktails are tasty, with a classic yet quirky presentation style. In my experience the staff are attentive and friendly. Taking into account the overall quality & high standards of food presentation, this place is not expensive at all. I will definitely return again one day.

Literally one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I ordered a Moscow Mule despite it not being on the menu, but the bartenders truly delivered, and it is the best Moscow Mule I’ve ever had to this day. The lamb was incredibly tender and full of delicious flavor. Dessert was fantastic and their whole staff was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely highly recommend checking out this very unique restaurant

The food is really good, and would definitely but the service wasn’t that great and pretty slow. We ordered the mussels to start (the cream sauce is amazing), the crisp pork belly (the truffle mashed potato’s also, so good!) & the tempura sea bass with the truffle fries is a must!! The cocktails are pretty good as well - the “life’s a peach” is light and refreshing! Also be sure to order their dessert, the sticky toffee pudding, SO GOOD. Our server was pretty much non-existent. We noticed they were tending to other tables, but never took a look around at our table. We were never asked how our meal was either but, noticed they were asking other tables. Eventually we had to wave them down, for any requests. The food itself, I would give 5/5 but the service definitely brought the review down - which is quite disappointing.

By far the best place for food and drinks in Glasgow. Cocktails were amazing and so was the burger. Minus point for the Sunday roast though it wasn't very good and a bit pricey for such little portion of meat. Staff is friendly and nice; I'll be back !

Got the Steak and ale pie, which was SOOO good! My wife had the pork - juicy and tasty. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere was great - buzzing without the hurrying and running.

We dined as a 6 and everyone loved their meals. I had a sirloin steak rare and it was amazing. The peppercorn sauce was to die for. Lovely service and gorgeous interior. Would 100% recommend and visit again when back in Glasgow.

Food is really good, but came here just for the passion fruit desert, is gorgeous and a must have it. Staffs were really friendly, professional and constantly nearby just in case you need something, nice. Have nothing to complain about this restaurant, it was an amazing experience during my quick visit through the city. Love it.

Went to this place as it available, and we needed something to drink as it was a hot day for Glasgow this day. They made a big spectacle out of finding us a seat since we didn’t have reservations, even though at the time of our entrance, the inside of the restaurant was about 30% full, and didn’t seem to go above 35%. Service what somewhat slow as well, and not too friendly. The menu was decent for food, and not too big for beer. The prices are higher than average in the area.

Very nice presentation of the dishes and a good combinations of flavors. The menu is big and offers meat dishes as well as nice vegetarian ones. It‘s a cool place with lots of sofas at the tables but can be a little noisy in the evening.

Beautiful setting and decent food. Wanted to try the Sunday Roast but they weren’t doing it over the Christmas period which was a shame. Drinks were very good. Staff seem a bit forgetful at times (waited over 15 minutes just to get the bill) and waiting times can be slow during peak hours.

It is with a heavy heart that I must give a negative review. I very much looked forward to coming here. The Citizen has an expansion cocktail menu, which includes a €50 Old Fashioned. For weeks, I debated if I should order the Old Fashioned on my visit. But as an Old Fashioned lover, I couldn't resist. The Old Fashioned I received was absolutely tasteless. It tasted like nothing, literally like a glass of water. I understand that it's not your typical Old Fashioned, but it should still resemble the cocktail in taste in some way. The ingredients should not create a completely tasteless drink. For those of you on the fence, I would not recommend ordering the most expensive Old Fashioned I've ever seen on a menu.

My favourite. I've been many times and never once has there been the slightest thing to complain about. The food and drinks are of very high standard and the service you get is always the absolute best. I just love it here.

My recent stay at The Citizen in Glasgow was nothing short of outstanding. The hotel's central location offered convenient access to the city's attractions, making it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers. The staff at The Citizen was welcoming and attentive, ensuring a seamless check-in process and providing valuable local recommendations. The room itself was a comfortable retreat, tastefully decorated with modern amenities that contributed to a relaxing stay. The attention to detail in the room's design and the quality of the furnishings reflected the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction. The Citizen's dining options were equally impressive. The on-site restaurant showcased a diverse menu with culinary delights that surpassed expectations. The breakfast offerings were particularly noteworthy, featuring a variety of options to suit different preferences. The overall ambiance of The Citizen exuded sophistication, and the hotel's commitment to cleanliness and safety measures added an extra layer of reassurance. I left The Citizen with a positive and memorable impression, making it a top choice for future visits to Glasgow.

Nice restaurant with good atmosphere. Variety of drinks, good and fast service. Different options of meat, chicken, and fish plates.

Lovely food, although the broccolini with the pork belly was a little over cooked. Waitress was very quick to clear food, even taking a starter plate before my friend could say she was not finish. It felt like we were being rushed out the door as our water jug was not empty but removed when we did not order dessert. The restaurant is beautiful with a lovely interior. Would definitely come again. Overall, it was a nice experience.

Came here for a friend's birthday and had a great wee night. The place is lovely visually, very warm feeling, but also literally warm, so prepare to use your menu as fans if you are right at the back. Food tasted amazing, they do a 3 courses for £32 menu or full menu. Either is a great pick, and actually the savings on the set menu isn't huge, so eating off the main menu is recommended. All round great night and the staff were super friendly and always on hand for drinks etc.

Superb. Nice dinner and good services we sat at out table for a bit after dinner and we were not rushed out, just when we were ready. All at our table enjoyed their food (green curry/fish and mash/sausage pie/stuffed chicken). A bit of background gentel music. Toilets clean, SD in place...Happy to return.

Lovely inside and great staff. Went with a friend for afternoon tea and one of the best that I've had. Varied selection of sandwiches with fresh, soft scones and wonderful little cakes. Couldn't eat most of the cakes, so they were boxed up for us to take home. Would definitely go back and would try for lunch/dinner.

absolutely one of the best meals i’ve had in a while. beyond what i was expecting. service was immediate, attentive and kind, food was quick, incredibly tasty, and presented nicely, drink menu was large, descriptive, and moderately priced. overall a really great experience. 10/10 for sure.

Very very noisy ! Food ok. Soup...small portion. Ambience more of a Canteen than Restaurant, sadly. Staff Excellent! Food very good.

We hadn't booked a table but took a chance and managed to get a table for some cocktails for just the 2 of us. Table service was good but didn't get the young ladies name... We ordered the Citizen Flora Gin cocktail and the Citizen Cane with 2 kinds of rum. Nice atmosphere and very busy.

A classy place, which you will find is reflected in your bill . Lovely décor and very good service. There is some very good whisky on sale here too. My complaint, however, is with the size of the food portions, especially at the prices charged.

Popped in on spec on a Friday afternoon and my wife and I were treated like royalty by the very attentive staff during a relatively busy time. Drinks poured and mixed to perfection and nothing was too much trouble - what a credit to this fine establishment. Other bars please up your game and take note!

  • 5/5 Nicole 3 years ago on Google
Every time we visit the staff, food and atmosphere make it an excellent time! We are bar no means as much regular visitors as we would like to be and yet every time we visit the staff makes us feel welcome. A special mention to Erica, she is great at her job always remembers us especially my two daughters and after my youngest was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes she does her upmost to look after her and always makes her feel like it was just yesterday when she saw her last! You don’t get service like this as much as you should and it will always have me coming back for more! We have bought vouchers for family and we’re happy to have celebrations or a causal lunch here! The food is always really good and I can also say the afternoon tea is well worth the experience! Well done guys glad to see yous all back xx
