Great selection of draught beer and malts. Table service was excellent all afternoon. Menu a bit restrictive but fine for lunch. Gents downstairs was a trek. Happy to recommend.

Just a short visit but the atmosphere was good so decided to have a bite to eat. I noticed the chef in the back putting the batter on the fresh fish, (not a fan of the frozen stuff you usually get in pubs) so we both decided to have the fish, good choice, it was lovely. All in all, nice atmosphere, good food, pleasant staff, what's not to like.

Pretty poor experience to be honest. Booked a table for 2.15. When arrived, was advised chef was starting his break and would be roughly 30 minutes. 30 minutes later told he'd be another 10/15 minutes. Why take bookings when you can't actually serve? Anyway, ordered food. A starter/sharer between all 3, and 3 mains. It all came at once. So not great. The attached pictures are what they call "steak and ale pie" on the menu. Few bits of meat and a small piece of anemic puff pastry. I've seen other pictures of this dish in reviews, with lots of meat, a lovely looking gravy, and a nice big blob of puff pastry. Whilst a PIE is NOT what is on offer here, they at least looked appetising and hearty. This effort was a very poor. I've had better for ยฃ3 in the Horseshoe. Went to the bar to seek the bill (no one was coming near us to ask), and it duly arrived. Minus the friends and family discount I had advised of, but that was easily sorted when I went back to the bar. I might have mentioned the food quality, or the absence of a chef, had the poor guy left alone at the bar at 4pm of an afternoon in December in the 4th largest city in the UK, but no one asked. Or cared. I live and work in the city centre, but I'm pretty sure I won't be back for any food. Sorry to the staff for zero tip, but it's not a right. It's a reward. And it wasn't earned.

Gutted ! As someone who came in to get the large breakfast often Iโ€™m disappointed to see they donโ€™t do it anymore and have replaced it by a much smaller version. CHARGE MORE FOR IT IF YOU ARE LOSING MONEY ! Iโ€™d gladly pay extra for it. It is a great wee pub and the staff amazing.

Group ordered Fish & Chips, Hunter's Toastie, and Steak & Ale Pie. Portions were very large and rather good! Staff were incredibly kind. I'd recommend it to everyone. They even have a gluten free menu.

My friends and I stopped off for a drink on the way home. What a brilliant pub, Staff and atmosphere were just brilliant. A special mention for the young barman James Brown who didn't mind us singing I feel good at him, we stayed for 5 hours instead of one drink ha ha. . Great staff, great pub, we'll be back.

Alana was a great server! The bangers and mash were absolutely incredible, as was the grilled cheese toastie. Absolutely recommend eating here!

Traditional bar, usually busy and sports on the screens. The balmoral burger was really nice, tasty! They have a good menu with all the pub food classics, just disappointed they didn't have steak pie and also the Belhaven IPA wasn't available (in a Belhaven bar?!).

Second time in this pub in 2 weeks as a visitor from England. Both times have been a really good experience. Had food today for the first time (steak pie and scampi) portions are large and great value for money. Taste absolutely amazing, not one complain. Staff are observant and friendly. Will definitely visit again

What a great find this place was,it has a bit of character with lovely friendly staff. The pub itself is very well situated. Its not a big place and some of the tables are really close together, but there are two fantastic tables next to the windows that are nice and comfy. The food wasn't to shabby either,we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be back again

Thanks to Josh, we had a great time yesterday. Our booking was for 3.30, but we were held back after helping a gentleman who'd collapsed at the four corners. Josh got our table sorted and looked after us all afternoon, even finding us a new table once our time was up. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves too. We'll be back to see him soon.๐Ÿ‘

Great wee pub at the top of Queen street near George square. Mixed clientele but nice atmosphere and Scottish flags all over the place. Worth calling in for a visit if you are around that part of town. Good selection of beers wines and spirits. Loads of big screen tv's to catch the football as well.
