We ordered 4-Course Seasonal Tasting Menu, and it was clear from the dishes that the ingredients were of high quality and the chef had taken great care. Before each dish, the staff would explain to us what each dish is and change the cutlery after each dish. My favorite are the following dishes Smoked pickled mussel; lsle of mull cheddar onion croustade - These two are served on bird’s nest shaped cutlery as a pre-dinner snack and taste particularly good. Wild sea bass/Radish/oyster/verjuice - With the radish and peppercorns it just combined the fishy taste of the sea bass to give it the right texture. Aged beef carpaccio/wild garlic/shallot/dripping dressing - It’s also the perfect combination of ingredients. For the final dessert, the ice cream combined with the bitterness of dark chocolate, not too sweet and not too greasy, which is my favorite flavour. There’s no doubt that I’ll be coming back to the Gannet more than once to try the rest of the menu.

Fantastic evening at The Gannet for our anniversary. From the get go we were warmly welcomed and looked after. Each course was incredible with high quality ingredients and attention to detail in the presentation and cooking. Seasoning spot on. We had such a great evening and we were gutted once it ended. Thank you to Kevin, Connor and team for providing us with a great night and memory. They even gave us a personalised handwritten card to celebrate our anniversary which just goes to show the level of service you will receive here. Unbeatable. Can't recommend the place enough. Can't wait to come back! Thanks again. Stephen

Was here for a lunch time tasting menu over eight courses. Staff very attentive and friendly. Food was all high quality and filling. Tried some wine alongside the dishes and all rated highly. Free parking is available nearby and there is plenty to do around the area if you do desire. Price wise it is on the higher side but you are paying for the quality. Highly recommended.

Wonderful #tastingmenu @thegannetgla in #finneston last night. The 6 course tasting menu included snacks and a pre-dessert and an optional cheese course (with is not really optional for me) 😏 Dishes were beautifully plated, creative and delicious. EVERY SINGLE COURSE had something interesting or exciting that captures your full attention be it an unexpected twist or just technically brilliant cooking. Service was impeccable. Friendly, professional and informative. They make you feel welcome, understand the dishes very well and seem genuinely passionate about what they are serving (be it food or drinks). What a fantastic experience.

My 3rd visit to The Gannet and won’t be my last. The service from the second you arrive to the moment you leave is superb. The staff can explain the menu and the wine selection and answer any questions you may have. The food….presentation is tremendous but the tastes and flavours are better than anywhere I have been. A fantastic dining experience in a relaxing environment

Received a voucher for my birthday. Was an amazing meal! Food was top notch. Well deserved of the 3 rosettes. Servers were pleasant and knowledgeable. Only thing I would say re the service (and this is me being picky), sometimes if one of us got up to the bathroom, we would come back and our plates were already served which meant we missed out on the explanations, and also clearing bread cutlery away whilst we were eating the next course. This didn't detract from the overall experience though and feel like tiny little tweaks to the service would get them to a Michelin star.

An unbelievable experience! The food was utterly sublime, with every bite being a taste sensation. We took the 6 course tasting menu, as was an afternoon sitting, we didn’t choose the wine pairings. The cocktails were amazing, from a new twist on an old fashioned to the pink fizz! The staff were great, they explained every course in detail and were very attentive throughout and we never felt rushed, even though we were there for over 3 hours. Brilliant food in a lovely setting, we can’t wait to return!

We are the seasonal lunch menu and the starter and main were delicious. £8 for a cheese supplement is excessive particularly when the cheese wasn’t the best. The other dessert lacked substance as well when comparing to everything else we had eaten. We will be back as we really did enjoy it.

Booked Gannet to celebrate a birthday and spend some quality time with really good friends. Food was wonderful and all tasted very nice, the wine pairing was nice but could’ve been slightly better, the restaurant itself is quite cozy. However, staff were short with us at various points and after our wine was served one of them went behind the bar and appeared to make snide remarks about our table. We weren’t terribly loud—but even if we were, communicate that please. My husband tried to engage this individual a couple of times but he wasn’t entertaining any of it. People have bad days, I get it, but at the end of the day I would expect a certain level of service given how much the whole experience cost. I’d rate it a 5 star but the bad vibes and attitude unfortunately overshadows how excellent the food was.

I had the 4 - course tasting menu today. The oysters really attracted my attention. The combination of cucumber and buttermilk with oysters is a good embellishment. They are very fresh, you can even smell the seawater close by, salty but not fishy. The crisp texture of the cucumber and the softness of the oysters are just the right match. The silky smoothness of the buttermilk in the mouth also adds to the flavour of the oyster. The next dish worth mentioning is definitely Beef Carpaccio. The first bite is a rich pistachio sauce, followed by crunchy shallot and very soft layer of beef. I cut the beef into small slices and wrapped the shallot around it, which gave a wonderful texture to go with it. The main course is a piece of lamb served with smoked potatoes. I was full before it was served so I didn't leave enough patience to savour this dish. Normally my favourite steak is blue, so this lamb is a bit tough and chewy for me. But that in no way means it's overcooked, it just doesn't fit my personal preference. Despite this, the flavour of the lamb is very well controlled and I know many people don't like lamb because it has a distinctive smell (Fun fact: its unique scent is actually the smell of grass). I have to say that it is rare to be able to eat these experimental and innovative dishes at such a price. And this is definitely on my top favourite restaurant list now!

Lovely service from Chloe, she made the dinner experience much better. Very friendly, chatty and natural. Taster menu was great, every dish gave a different hit of flavour. Some dishes were the signature of the night. We were full after, was very fulfilling. Nice diversity of mocktails/cocktails and other alcohol. Definitely recommend!

Excellent menu, especially enjoyed the beef and eel course. Staff were very attentive and talked through each course answering any questions. Would definitely come back when the menu changes in a few weeks

Food was very tasty and the presentation was lovely; however, for a 3 course meal with some small snacks it was not enough to fill us and we did end up going somewhere else to eat afterwards. For the price of the meal we were expecting to be full after. Although I enjoyed the food and the mocktail, the coffee after was not great at all and wouldn't recommend. We ordered a latte which came in a milk jug like mug so was awkward to drink. It was also made with a pod machine so coffee wasn't great and milk for a latte was awful. We will likely be back to The Gannet for the dinner tasting menu which appears to have great reviews, but will be avoiding another lunch there.

If you're looking for a proper dining experience and like your seafood this is the restaurant to come to. Every course was excellent, but the little amuse bouche starters, pickled herring dish and mutton and toast were definite highlights. Really sensational stuff! Fully recommended!
