Not a huge museum but well laid out and presented. Access is good for wheelchairs via a lift, and there are accessible toilets on a lower floor. It has a small, but good Roman section and some fascinating collection, from Egyptian mummy's to insects and dinosaurs. There is an upstairs gallery which there is a lift too, you'll enjoy this if you have an interest medical science or engineering. I wouldn't drive to Glasgow just to go, but its a nice place to visit as part of a day out.

Splendid, phenomenal museum. Not packed with specimens but those shown are top notch. Informative, proud of legacy of Hunter, Kelvin and Lister. Must see!

Beautiful and free museum in the university of Scotland, with a collection related to what was being taught in the past and about Scotlands’ history

Such an adorable yet amazing museum! It wasn’t overwhelming like most places. I really enjoyed my time there. Also, it being free is an amazing feature!

Must see museum in Glasgow. In the heart of Glasgow university. Nice building, wide collection. Really enjoyed the Roman exposition and the fact that they try to make you think how things got there and the ethical (or not) aspect of it.

It's interesting, but it didn't inspire me much. The museum is primarily focused on the pieces collected by Hunter. There are impressive Roman ruins in the archeology section, including the ancient wall north of Glasgow. For free.

Interesting and varied museum including, among many other themes, a midwifery exhibition.

Loved this museum! The view was amazing! There were some questionable and disturbing images and items but overall, it was a fun experience.

Great wee museum with a variety of items. Sometimes student guides do a little tour which is really interesting. The building alone is absolutely breathtaking!

Remarkable for its Antonine Wall (Roman wall north of the Hadrian...) finds and Midwifery/medical casts, amongst many other things. A good old-fashioned free museum without crowds near characterful University quads.

The Hunterian Museum in Glasgow offers a captivating journey into the rich history of the university and its esteemed faculty. As a student, I found the well-preserved biology exhibits, mummies, and animal skeletons to be truly fascinating. The museum provides a unique insight into the academic legacy of the institution, making it a must-visit for anyone intrigued by the intersection of history and science.

I loved that they addressed the issue of cultural appropriation. A portion of their medical exhibit was unexplained which would have been nice to know about. It was a very eclectic set of collections. And they did mention that it will be closed in 2024 to renovate the displays.

The university museum has an interesting collection of historical and scientific objects. Especially the natural history collection speaks to the imagination. The museum is housed in a very impressive building.

What a wonderful, free day to spend in Glasgow when the weather is good or bad. The museum is the perfect size, and the university has loads of gems for any sightseer.

Free entry. Wonderful place to visit. Enjoy the cloister's of Glasgow university before entering the museum on the 3rd floor. On entry view some of the spectacular display jars containing incredible specimens. Read about and touch parts of the 2000 year old Antoine wall. Then into the main 2 storey hall. Lord Kelvin, possibly Scotland's most famous scientist left all his equipment to Glasgow university where he taught. Visit the natural exhibits of dinosaurs, birds, gemstones and fossils. Brilliant place

This gem needs to move out from the Kelvingrove's shadow. The building is simply spectacular, and the collection is somehow better. There's sections of a wall built by Romans over 2000 years ago, in the same building as instruments from the Scientific Revolution, and implements from the foundations of modern medicine. It's also far less crowded & noisy than the Art Museum. Go visit!

Hunterian museum is a part of Glasgow university. I love Roman history in Scotland. I've visited all the sites on the antonine wall. The museum hold's a lot of artifacts relating to the wall, through archeological digs. Like distance slabs left by legions. Also weapons , roman shoes, for soldiers women and children. It's a first class museum.

Came across this by accident. So glad I did.. Will definitely be back as I was short on time.

Five stars if you have been visiting the evident bits of the Antonine wall. Maybe fewer if you are not interested enough to see where the Roman artefacts came from. Liked the debate about slavery and the provenance of many of the other exhibits. On balance I would say leave on display as long as it is made clear of how the collectors/ persons being celebrated earned their wealth from exploiting and the death of others.

A fine collection of Roman inscriptions. Several annotations of Hadrian's exploits. Practice your Latin. A few casts. Interesting medical contributions especially regarding child bearing and the hazards involved in previous centuries. Absolutely must be visited.

The Mackintosh house reconstruction was interesting, not my cups tea but fascinating design and expertly presented. The art collection in the museum was well worth the stop, unfortunately a large portion of the collection was not on display. Thank you Mr Hunter for sharing your collection.

It had a large amount of variety and detail in the exhibits. Despite it's relatively small size, there was enough to keep me there for hours. Nightmare fuel is on the top floor - you have been warned.

Great museum with many unique items in its collection ranging from roman ruins, Egyptian mummies to the large medical collection. If you have a weak stomach for medical tools, instruments, or anatomy than I would avoid. It is located on the University campus which is worth visiting on its own, making it a worthwhile visit.

Beautiful building as a whole and a really interesting museum. I would highly recommend checking this out. It's also free which is an added bonus, teenage children were also interested.

The pathology collection is the highlight in my opinion, better than even some college classroom demo jars, very unique. Learn what a thrombosis and gall stone actually look like, for example…The rest you can see at other places. Cost is free.

Superb private collection of William Hunter presented in the glorious architecture of a purpose-built museum within Glasgow University. Fascinating historical evidence, medical samples, geological objects, entertaining curiosities. (The museum is not to be confused with the neighbouring Hunterian Art Gallery that includes the Mackintosh House...some review photos are incorrectly attributed.)
