The atmosphere and service was great. For a great steak definitely do visit. On our table we had Calamari, chicken livers, bone marrow, sirloin steak and hake. Everything tasted great. They have a good wine selection aswell.

My family and i would like to thank all the staff from the General Manager to the floor manager, waitrons and chef! My mom turned 90 and wanted us to take her to the Casino to play the slots as part of her birthday celebration. I booked the Hussar Grill for an early dinner. They totally went out of their way to give us a super spot and table! I booked a booth but instead of 6 there were 7 of us and they thought we would be cramped. Eventually they carried in their only round table and set it up in a super section of the restaurant and placed wine barrels on both sides of the table to display our balloons and birthday cake which we were allowed to bring. It was the Managers daughter and wife’s birthday on the same day - 7th July and he was going off to share the evening with them but still took the time to make it so special for us! I hope they had as great a tome as we did! We were also given a complementary 1.5l bottle of red wine for the celebration which was totally unexpected and a vert kind gesture. Thank you so very much! The service was exceptional from start to finish and the steaks were delicious! You contributed so much in making moms 90th bday celebration special💐🎂

service was great, biltong was really tasty. The food was great, steak and parmasan chicken was really good.I sould do the chicken again definately. Hard to get into the booths though for most grown up person and the tables dont move. This is something they can look at as its most uncomfortable. The cocktails are some of the best I had but didnt enjoy the youtube adverts playing in between the songs. Just dont set the mood at all its a bit tacky. Overall variety of food on the menu was good, the wine menu was extensive and value for money was good for the food.

After a warm welcome at the entrance and all the necessary covid precautions taken we were escorted to our seats. We were escorted to an elevated section of the restaurant that was specially reserved for my mother's 60th birthday. The seating arrangement was a little restrictive and I ended up sitting in the corner which ultimately meant if I needed to leave the table, 3 people sitting next to me would need to inconveniently excuse themselves allowing me to pass by. None the less, the setup of the table was presented immaculately with all cutlery and glasses clean. After settling in, Siya came around and introduced herself to us and explained a few things to us. After taking our orders she left and things went slightly pear-shaped. The drinks came in stages and was only notified after the first few drinks that came there was no strawberry milkshake. This then required the guest who ordered strawberry milkshake to put in a different order. Although the milkshakes thereafter came fairly quickly there was a delay and ultimately one of the guest who ordered a grapetiser ended up getting their drink after a long while almost as if though they planted the grapes, harvested and then bottling the grapetiser. Once all the drinks were sorted out and a almost rocky start to our dinner service Siya then proceeded to take our orders which went rather smoothly. The starters took some time and was not restaurant standard time. I ordered the avo and shrimp cocktail and expected it to be brought in a champagne type glass but was pleasantly surprised when it was plated. I dug in so quickly that I forgot to take a picture. Then my niece assisted by stealing all my avo and left me with the greenery and Shrimp. As guests completed their starters the main courses were brought out with not too much of a delay and was presented really well. At a glance looking over the table the meals looked inviting and fresh. No one at the table had any complaints related to the food whether it was the starter the main or the desert but some food being delivered to the wrong guest. I opted to go with the lamb shank and mashed potatoes for my main. The lamb shank was cooked to perfection and literally fell off the bone with the meat separating just the way it should. The mash was amazing and I felt it was put together in a different way, almost as if though half of the mash was roughly crushed the other half was put through a sieve and smoothed out and then everything recombined which I quite enjoyed. The guest who ordered steak had a perfectly cooked to perfection steak which was observed after cutting into their meat and received their orders as requested. Nothing was over or undercooked. The king clip was golden brown and literally to die for. After our mains deserts were then brought to us and I ordered the cheesecake. when it arrived it was presented well it tasted amazingly fresh and melted in my mouth. Most of the other guest had creme brulee and was slightly disappointed by the consistency. They mentioned it was slightly too thick but overall was still nice. My sister tasting it for the first time and was not blown away as she had a different expectation. Overall Siya done an amazing job with service and asked and insured we were fine throughout lunch and also ensured our drinks where topped up where require. After the meal we then proceeded to settle the bill and I handed over a few vouchers which Siya then took to the manager and then returned saying that the vouchers were not available to be used within Hussar Grill. I reassured her that it was and that they needed to just read the fine print which she then went away and deliberated with her manager and then came back requesting that I complete the necessary details on the vouchers after which everything was settled and worked out. Great experience overall with awesome fresh food.

What a great spoil! I enjoyed a wonderfully done medium rare fillet steak that was one of the best tasting foods I have ever had! Not only that they spoiled us with a small starter and amazing chocolate vodka drink at the end, on the house! Wonderful taste sensation and great service! I couldn't have enjoyed it more, and I can highly recommend the carpetbagger steak to anyone wondering what to have.

We waited about 45 minutes for our first round of drinks. And probably another thirty for the 2nd round. It was such a struggle to get anyone's attention. The food was lovely. Immediately after the food arrived though, the chef came to the table... He was probably there more than the waiter to check up on the meal... So big ups to him.

What we liked best about the Hussar Grill is that even on a Friday night at GrandWest, there was some peaceful relaxation here and it is a great place to find some calm. The service is super sharp and discreet. There’s no drama at all and the staff make it seem as if they are well-versed with unobtrusive service: that was appreciated. Certainly, this venue isn’t for the young loud crowd so it serves as a great escape in an environment that can get quite loud.

Hussar Grill date night 2-course meal special. Excellent food and the staff was very accommodating with the last minute reservation. I enjoyed the food but the portions was a bit less than what I expected from the previous Wikideals voucher. But overall, the food was excellent.

We had a wonderful "Date Night", and are glad we booked in advance. We were greeted by name at the door by manager Jason, and taken to our cosy, comfortable booth in the tastefully decorated restaurant. Soft lighting, nice music played at a volume that still allowed for good conversation, and decor that was calming and initimate. We were very relaxed when the food arrived, initially some garlic olives and thinly slices fried potato. This went well with the Hussars 50th anniversary bottle of red wine that was a part of the date night special menu. Our waitresses were lovely and patient with us, offering a broad range of choices to accompany the three course meal. Attention to detail was perfect, working through a list of entree, main and dessert choices, then the side dish of preference, cut of steak and how we wanted it cooked. Chicken livers in creamy peri peri sauce with crunchy croutons came first and the red wine continued to delight, cutting through the richness of the sauce. The steak was simply presented on a warm plate, and beautifully cooked. We eat good red meat rare, and were very pleased when the steak came out properly cooked. Too many restaurants seem to over cook their steak when ordered rare, but not here at Hussars. And, this was our second visit, previously also having a perfectly cooked steak. The fat was nicely rendered, will grill flavours came through on the tender and tasty sirloin steak that we ordered. Dessert finally followed, and somewhere in there we had an extra glass of wine, necessitated by the wonderful pace of the service. Slow enough that we could enjoy the ambience, sip our wine slowly and chat, but not so slow that we were looking around waiting for food to arrive. I guess what helped the service speed was the attentiveness of our waiting team, occasionly being asked how everything was going, and whether or not we were ready for the next course. Again, we were impressed by this desire to ensure our needs were met - neither rushed because the restaurant wanted to free up our seats for the next group, nor delayed due possibly to a busy or inefficient kitchen. Whatever the reasons, we were watchful and attentive to the processes of the restaurant ourselves, and everything seemed to be handled perfectly. It was lovely to meet the manager Jason, and provide final thanks to him directly. My wife and I are only visiting Cape Town for a short while, and to have positive and memorable experiences such as we had at Hussars Grill GrandWest, is delightful. Five stars for everything!

Great service from the waiter Keith who took care of us from the beginning until the end of the dinner. Delicious chicken livers but quite spicy. Main course we choose ostrich fillet and kudu with a side of garlic baby potatoes and cinnamon butternut and creamy spinach. Good vibes and nice location. We loved it thank you so much for the beautiful experience!!!

The food here is very good! The lunch special is definitely worth it. Steak was immaculate - can't fault anything for the food except that there was sand in my salad leaves (improperly washed.) The service was good until the restaurant got busy, then the waitress was rather rude and not very attentive. We forgave her because we could she she was flustered with how busy the restaurant was. Overall it was still a great experience. The House Red is excellent and an easy drinker paired with the steak!

We were a table of 10, we first opted for some snails and black mushrooms for starters. Then was told that they did not have snails in stock so we substituted for some grilled calamari with chili and garlic. When it arrived we got 5 pieces of cold calamari, with no chili. I had to re look at the menu to see if I ordered a kiddies portion or not, for R95 I was expecting to have a bit more calamari. I then asked the waitress if this is correct, she said she will bring the rest of the calamari heads since the kitchen left it out. We also ordered a rib eye steak medium rare steak. The temperature was right but the steak was so hard to chew that we didn’t bother finishing it. The black mushroom starters were dismal, and the grilled kingklip we ordered was super salty it was barley edible. I have been to a few Hussars Grills and I must say they are not consistent at all. I would not come back here again, it was not the waitress’ fault since the orders were out through correctly, just bad execution. Not once did a manager come to greet or apologise for the bad experience.

Unbelievable experience! Decided to treat ourselves for a nice Sunday Meal and choosing to come to Hussar Grill was the best. Starters are all so amazing that it was hard to choose. I had tomato soup and Paul had the Prawn cocktail. Mains I had the fillet well done and Paul had the rump. Side of veggies. They did run out of shot glasses. I think they only had 6 but that is the only criticism we can give (didn’t affect our experience). The ambiance and decor are perfect. We highly recommend going there.

Decided to try out their lunch special for R145 which included a starter and a main. We were given starter olives and sweet potato chips even before we placed our orders. The waiter was very friendly and even brought a taster of a red house wine before serving because the wine I ordered was not available. The replacement was really good. The starters were excellent. I kept the sauce from the livers back to have with the main course. Went absolutely well together. Great service and ambiance completed a perfect lunch date. Will definitely be back.

Attended a birthday celebration here. The restaurant was very welcoming and allowed for table decorations and cake to be brought in. The food was exceptionally well prepared and the portion sizes are great. I would recommend all of their meat dishes which will leave you completely satisfied.
