This was easily one of the worst dining experiences we've had. Long wait times as they were understaffed, expensive pricing and absymal food. We will never be back.

Lovely brunch experience with my kids. The food was delicious, and I especially loved the constant flow of coffee into my cup. Will definitely come back!

Really good food. Excellent service by the staff. Weekends are busy so, better call them ahead to make reservations. I ordered the Southwest Benedict and it was really good. I highly recommend this place.

I had the pleasure of dining at Smitty's Family Restaurant recently, and I can't say enough about the wonderful experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff was incredibly attentive and made me feel right at home. The menu offered a great variety of options, and the food was absolutely delicious. I tried the breakfast special, and it was cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were very reasonable, offering excellent value for the quality of the food. The restaurant was spotlessly clean, and the ambiance was cozy and inviting. It's a perfect place for a family meal or a casual get-together with friends. I can't recommend Smitty's Family Restaurant enough. It's a fantastic spot for a delicious meal and top-notch service. I will definitely be returning for more delightful dining experiences in the future!

My mom and I each got different eggs benedicts. "So-cal Eggs Benedict" I think it was called, it has avocado in it. It was lovely! They have lots of breakfast options, regular lunch/dinner items like sandwiches and salads. Their coffee and tea is alright, it gets the job done. Bless the person working when we went in. Luckily it wasn't super busy but they were working hard and it showed.

Smitty’s is another classic example of what used to be a non-flashy very good and solid affordable breakfast place that is cutting every corner possible to the point where the portions are so small, the quality is so bad, and the prices are comparable or higher than some of the higher end/popular breakfast spots in the city. The breakfast we had today was awful, small, and cold. Service was amazing but for $17+ tax a meal you expect something at least a step above a free hotel buffet. My advice? Avoid and seek out somewhere like Armview, Ardmore, The Mic Mac, or even Pur and Simple. It’ll cost the same or less.

Ours was a return visit to Smitty's to try them again. We had a Denver bacon omelet @$17.99 and crispy ginger beef with rice @ $17.99. In general the food was good, served on nicely warmed plates. However portioning was minimal. The beef dish came with onions and peppers which turned out to be so few as almost non-existent. The beef was delicious, quite generous. The rice with it was plain (not a problem) and about half the portion size that it should have been. My wife's omelet was good but did not live up to the price. Service from Nicole was good. Overall our experience was almost satisfactory but distinctly underwhelming. There are better options available nearby.

Eggs Benedict was delicious and the service was excellent. The servers come around with fresh hot coffee often and we really enjoy visiting for breakfast regularly.

I will give full points to Jessica who was our server on Saturday morning. Her service was exceptional. But I have serious issue with management that has so many dishes served with pork and its variations. There is no issue with serving pork. But as the city is growing many people will have sensitivity to pork. All non pork dishes are deep fried with pork. Even fish is fried with pork. There should be some measures put in place which takes customers sensitivities to account. Hoping the management takes notice and comes up with better options for its customers.

The service was poor and the quality of the food wasn't very good. There was a long wait for the food to arrive at the table, and when it did, it was barely warm. Our dining experience definitely wasn't worth the expense.

The girls that seated us and served us were great, very pleasant, however the food was absolutely terrible, everything looked and tasted like it sat under a warmer for quite a while, the cheese on mine was melted and resolidified it sat so long and my partner's hollandaise sauce was super thick and had the same appearance as the cheese.

It's not a fancy place, but you always know you're going to get great food and friendly service from the staff. It's usually busy for weekend brunch, but not bad outside of those times.

Crazy how friendly and quick the service was. Haven't had service that good in quite some time. We had three different people check on us. No issues with our orders. Food is typical breakfast diner food and with reasonable pricing and good portion size. We got served coffee while we were sitting down. I would come again just for the service

The Staff are friendly and helpful. Service was great too and no issues with the food which my kids love especially my son chose Smitty's for his birthday which is why we went. He loves the all day breakfast. However the restaurant is in desperate need of repair/renovations. The flooring is so worn down my shoes were literally sticking to it with every step. The decor and furniture is clearly very old and hasn't been replaced or updated in a very long time. The bathrooms were quite honestly gross. We used to frequent this location before COVID but the lack of attention to repair or upgrades is beyond the point that I can overlook it. Really hope they do some updates soon or we may not be going back unfortunately.

Food is a good portion and fair price. Nothing fancy but hits the spot.

I am very unhappy with my recent experience at Smitty’s. This was unexpected as I have enjoyed Smitty’s for breakfast/brunch with my family for many years. Recently, I took my son to breakfast for his birthday only to find out that the free birthday meal would not be provided without having downloaded the Smitty’s app beforehand. When I explained that I do not download such apps on my phone as I use it for basic functions (calls/text) only, I was advised that no exceptions would be made. This change in process is so disappointing and unfair given the fact there are people who may not utilize phones and therefore are disqualified. Besides this disappointment, the food quality has worsened. The french toast was prepared with thin slices of white bread rather than something restaurant quality like brioche, challah, etc. Also, the service was slow and unfriendly. I realize Smitty’s is not a Michelin star restaurant but still, for the price paid, the quality and service should be better.

My fiance and I came in just after the lunch rush, for a quick bite to eat before heading back to our hotel. We were greeted by Jessica who served us, She was super friendly, funny and very efficient! She packed us up our left overs with all the fixings we would need for later as she actually engaged in conversation with us and knew we were staying at a hotel. As a server myself, I really appreciate good service, in my eyes this is how all guests should be treated! I wish more servers were like Jess! . She did a few things to make our quick lunch a good one. Good servers are hard to come by. Thank you Jess!

Our server, Jessica, went absolutely above and beyond for us! She is wonderful at her job, tremendous customer service and extremely fun, positive and delightful! We live out of town in Moncton, but visit Halifax monthly or more, we'll definitely be back and hope to have Jessica brighten our day once again! Thank you Jessica 🙏

Matt, our server was polite and checked in enough to not be overwhelming. He was very accommodating explaining menu options. Food was good. I find it a shame that people are leaving such low reviews, as many things could have been dealt with immediately in restaurant.

Love this restaurant its been a family favorite for years. However today after being there (Aug 26, 2023) I was not very impressed with the cleanliness. The carpet was completely grease stained and sticky from the staff going in and out of the kitchen area. It's as if the carpets have not been deep cleaned in years. Please for the sake of the business replace the carpet I think its past the point of deep cleaning.

Service was a little slow, it took around 20 minutes for food arrive, it seems they were busier than usual. Coffee price isn’t cheap either. Other than that, food was great! I recommend it!

Food was good aside from tiny overcooked sausages. What a waste of money for those extras. Also ordered 3 eggs...and got 3 but she only charged me for 2 eggs on the bill but added 1 extra egg on the debit machine. That was od. It could have been a freebie. She seemed to be and acted like on a hangover. Carpet was really dirty. Gf's shoes were sticking to the dirty carpet.

It's a family restaurant and the service is always friendly. If you want something high end you'll need to look at a menu somewhere else, but no issues with the food if you are looking for something good and affordable.

I always have a good experience here! Whether it’s morning breakfast with my partner or my friends and I are all hung over 😂 this place is amazing! The staff is always super attentive and the food can’t be beat!

ordered a skillet. received an underseason half cook potato slaw. was told they haven't been able to get home fries in for months?? what do you mean? cut potatoes into cubes dip in oil until cooked. heaven forbid a place cuts potatoes for a dish that costs 17$ instead of using a more expensive frozen precooked option.

Food & service is great. Servers are awesome every time I go in, sometimes 3 times a week. Servers always have smiles and awesome to talk with. Great place to eat.

We had a lovely experience this evening, as we always do at this location. Tonight Jessica the server was more than wonderful, went above & beyond for our 10 year old Autistic son. He so kindly ask her, once bill was paid, if he could stay and finish his pop, she said “absolutely, however I can get you a take out cup & you are more than welcomed to take it home & I can top it up”. She went & got him a take out cup so he could enjoy it at home, he was so thrilled & wanted me to reach out to the Restaurant to say thank you, to Jessica & the cooks. Thank you ❤️

Have been here for a while. They have a great selection of food. It was tasty & our server was great

We waited 10 min to be seated on a Sunday morning. Food arrived fast and the waitress came around to fill up our coffee and check on us. The food was delicious and the price was good.

Quick to order. Accurate order. Good food. Fair pricing. I would like to see them introduce different coffees.

A convenient location for grabbing a relatively quick meal. The quantity of food was surprisingly substantial and all meals ordered were good. It was slightly loud (as it was a busy time for mother's day), but it goes to show you how popular the place is. There was a lineup after we got our table until past the time we were done. It seemed to not be long wait. Seniors get a 10% discount card.

Smitty's has a new menu. The service is exemplary at this location.....the only critique I have is artificial topping instead of real whipped cream..other than that it's a great place to dine with family.

The waitress who led us to the seat was really friendly, but the waitress who took our order was rude and looked like she hate her job. But the most important part was, we saw her talk to other customers she was nice and polite when taking their order. I don't know if it's because we are Asian or she just doesn't like the customer with accent.
