Delicious food. The service could do with a little help but other than that it's a great place to just chill and enjoy some good food.

Good menu with African food, nice service. Seating possible inside and under the big canvas. Not everything on the menu was available. Early weekdays no reservation needed.

Great service, it was a friday evening but the place wasnt as packed. Plenty of sitting areas for the patrons. Only thing i didnt like was the prices and also the fact that they had runout of most of the dishes i wanted so had to make do with what was offered. Otherwise everything was great and the stuff there is super friendly

Really delicious traditional food here, probably the best in the city. There's a lot of variety on the menu which makes it great for not only internationals but also locals. The staff are really efficient with short waiting time. Portions are very generous and authentically Zimbabwean.

Love the African food here. From Bream fish, to liver and kidney, chicken cooked on the fire, ribs, etc. The food is very tasty. Quite a popular spot as it's usually packed even mid week. Gava has definitely made its mark in Harare.

There is great cooking here, especially that whole Kariba bream. It is also good to see a wide selection of Zimbabwean cuisine. There is a choice of indoor and outdoor seating. The mosquitoes are worrisome so do get repellant as a precaution. The staff are generally friendly and look busy but you should get your order served in close to fifteen minutes. Some entertainment may be taking place so this gives it a lively feel.

The food is good with generous portions. The service as well is really friendly, the waitress was nice to us. If you're going there in the winter and planning to sit outside, dress warm because the manicured lawn makes it colder than it should be. Otherwise, good vibes. Great to spend with friends or just a date. You won't regret the sadza even though it comes at a premium.

I've been several times in this country style restaurant and never have been disappointed, for dinner and lunch either. Excellent cuisine quality, delicious grilled meat and stews, I literally loved the ox tail stew. Good vibes and atmosphere, I loved the live music entertainment for Friday brunch. Lovely and welcoming staff. Strongly recommend

I love Gava's! It's one of my favourite places in #Harare #Zimbabwe. It's also my go-to place for traditional Zimbabwean quisine. The food is always fresh and healthy. You're assured of a balanced diet and a pleasant atmosphere, complemented by friendly staff. Gava's has a vibe to it that screams "welcome to #Zimbabwe!" Not only will you eat good traditional food, but you'll enjoy great Zimbabwean music and be treated to typical Zimbabwean hospitality. If you're lucky, you'll also experience some live music by local musicians, courtesy of the restuarant. I definitely recommend this place for a taste of Zimbabwe.

Look, in terms of food, these guys know how to please the mouth. Their dishes are very simple but yet so well made and consistently good. I love this place and I encourage them to keep the ball rolling n to maintain consistency coz thats what keeps us coming back. On this day we ordered we ordered sadza, rice with peanut butter n road runner; ribs and chips and a green salad with T-bone steak. Look, everything was on point. I will include a pic/ video of the empty dishes to testify to this. I guess you are wondering why i gave them 4/5 in fact its a 4,5…kkk. They need to provide more fans/air conditioning in the big tent coz it can be really hot and i will surely give them a five next time. There was very nice music playing in the background, well done Gava!

Delicious recipes and well prepared meals cooked from the fire πŸ”₯ πŸ”₯ πŸ”₯. Natural and traditional foods are found at an affordable price, you order as you wish. Happy and nice service from the waiters and waitresses in a nice uniform style. The soft Ps of marketing are well applied at the restaurant. You can walk in anytime as long it's during the business hours and in line with the current Covid-19 Pandemic requirements. The place is good for meetings as well. Family gatherings, work gathering, team building and other social networking events.

Gigantic portions of really tasty local cuisine at fair pricing. They already have the carry-on bags on standby if you can't finish πŸ˜‚ For what was meant to be a lazy Sunday afternoon, the music was a little too loud and hectic. But a beautiful atmosphere and attentive service.

Authentic traditional Zimbabwean food that tastes absolutely delicious. Portions are quite sizeable so prepare for some takeaway. We had sadza, beef stew, beans and veges as well as Seabrim fish with fries, the fries were over done but tasty nonetheless. A lovel garden set up and very spacious for those who want to dine in large groups. Will definitely be going back when in Zimbabwe.

Very nice service by smiling staff. Sadza very good with some pork chops. Worth the money. Just cut the sugar (syrup). That is too much sugar risks diabetes. Look out for the health of Zimbabweans. You can do it, you have very positive staff. Plus the location is quite nice and airy.

My first visit to Gava's. Popular restaurant serving mostly traditional Zimbabwean cuisine as well as the always popular braai (bbq meat). Fast friendly service and very reasonable prices - lunch for 2 including 2 glasses of good house red wine & filter coffee was USD29. I had Guinea fowl (hanga) served with peanut butter rice, green vegetables (covo) & beans. My wife had tripe (maguru nematumbu), sadza rezviyo, beans & mustard greens with peanut butter (tsunga nedovi). All very good. A very enjoyable afternoon with entertainment provided by the brilliant Fab Fusion band.

Have been to so many of these african restaurants when you can order proper african meals with a hint and a dash of western cousins but never have I ever had a wonderful and nice meal like I did today at Gava restaurant. We were there for our lunch meeting and we had one of the best (in my view) waitresses at the place. She was wonderful, warm, patient and funny. She gave us the best treatment anyone can give and made sure we had everything we needed and were served well. On the down side though, is they need to improve on their restrooms, they are not well maintained and for a restaurant growing so big and hosting fancy people they need to improve. But overally these guys rock...

Lots of food, well meat really? Check Bound to see a familiar face? Check Perfect open air settings? Check Ideal location? Check Real drinks if required? Check This is the cordon bleu of traditional Zim cuisine. On the high end of the price scale but always guaranteed to please. So what's the downside? The waitstaff gets overwhelmed and some of them tend to be downright rude if they are not serving your table- they just ignore any request that you make- but meanwhile your own wait person has disappeared and it might take them 10 more minutes to pop up again.

The environment is quite lively and spacious. The facilities for eating both inside and outside are good and focused on making the customer quite comfortable both for eating and space to enjoy your conversations. The food is 'traditionally' amazing; well-cooked and quite filling. I like how throughout the years they know how to maintain a good standard of what it means to be an African Cuisine restaurant.

Good service, good location on a sunny day. Once it gets rainy or windy its not so pleasant. The music is decent, I have heard they have live bands on weekends. The experience is okay, never wowed me or left me with memories.

I was a bit disappointed by this place. The food was a little bit overcooked. I couldn’t distinguish between the different kinds of meat dishes we got. The waiters also took way too long to attend to us. They kept passing our table without checking on us or anything. I still believe our experience was just a once off occurrence and I’d really love to give them another chance. I was split between 2 or 3 stars. Ended up giving 3 stars because the place had generous and safe parking, clean and quite an open setup.

Sadza and Mazi-beans . If you love your traditional foods with sadza lol πŸ˜‚πŸ€£this is your go to area. Sundays are always super fun as local artists are performing. This is our place for a bit of #JAZZ fused with sadza and beans lol 🎺🎺. Secure parking and a great hangout for a Sunday.

The food was fairly lovely and the service was good. The peanut butter pumpkin leaves/muboora really let down the experience for me; tough and not tasty.

Food was a bit dry. Chicken was overcooked. Beef stew wasn't great. First three things I ordered, they didn't have in stock. It's a locals favourite so thought I should check it out. I would recommend the peanut butter rice though.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gavas, a delightful traditional African/Zimbabwean restaurant, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming ambiance transported me to the heart of Zimbabwe. The authenticity of the place was evident not only in its decor but also in the delicious dishes they served. I decided to go for the classic combination of sadza, chicken, and vegetables, and it was a true culinary adventure. The sadza was perfectly cooked and had that lovely, comforting taste that reminded me of home-cooked meals. The succulent chicken was seasoned to perfection, and each bite was a burst of flavorful joy. The veggies were fresh and expertly prepared, adding a healthy and colorful balance to the meal. The service was exceptional as well, with the staff being attentive and friendly, making sure my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. I also appreciated the cultural touches throughout the restaurant, which added to the overall charm of the place. If you're looking to experience the authentic flavors of Zimbabwean cuisine in a welcoming and homely setting, I highly recommend Gavas. It's a place where you can savor the rich traditions and flavors of Africa, leaving with a heart full of happiness and a satisfied appetite. I can't wait to return and try more of their delightful dishes!
