Rooms are not maintained properly. AC didn’t work, so had to wait an hour to get it fixed. Even the furniture are not cleaned. No continuous water supply and lot of issues with bathrooms. TV also didn’t work. Not worth the price at all. Try and avoid this place if possible specially if you are a local.

Rooms are old.... Bathrooms are dirty.. They don't have landlines to connect to reception or room service.. You have to walk down to reception if u need anything.... AC REMOTE are not working properly.. Bed sheets are stained.. Only the view is good...

Hotel looked good from outside. But the room upkeep was poor. The washroom door was making loud creaking sound while opening and closing. So also the bed. There was no intercom facility and the Wifi was really weak even in the reception area. However the location was excellent with sea facing and infinity pool. Though the spread was limited, the dinner and breakfast we had at their restaurant was good. The service was also good. Not worth the money we paid and will never recommend this property to others. Have brought all these issues to their reception and housekeeping team. But their response was lukewarm.

I recently had an unfortunate experience at this hotel and I must say it was a total disappointment from start to finish. I had high hopes for this place based on some reviews, but me and my friend had a terrible experience. They attacked my friend and we took him to the hospital because his arm was broken. They need to find out what happened before doing something terrible like this. Customer service is very poor. They have no idea how to negotiate with customers. Even the hotel management does not care about their customers. I honestly cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. It was a sad and frustrating experience for us. Choose another hotel that truly values its guests and offers a level of service that matches the price they charge.

Boy oh boy, where to start with this place. For the price, the hotel is terrible. The rooms are dirty, the showers are atrocious (pressure and infrequent hot water), the bed was very creaky when you turn over and you can feel the springs. On our final night the bathroom tap produced orange, dirty water (see video attached to this review). They also made an error in our booking. They play very loud club music from the afternoon till about 10pm, so good luck finding any peace and quiet before then. On the positive side, the breakfast is really good - particularly the traditional Sri Lankan curries, which are spicy and tasty. The staff are overall nice and attentive. The hotel is of course right on the beach as well, so very convenient.

Very best place for weddings and other parties. They have various types of foods and big collection of desserts. But I'm thinking in this season their quality is become lower. The hotel is by the beach. With swimming pool and a liquor shop. They have good packages for families and couples with good events.

Not really worth going to this hotel. Smelly rooms and corridors, low quality rooms without telephone or room service bell, without tv… it’s good for beggars. Should ban these places avoiding misleading travelers with edited nice pictures on websites. I stayed 24th December 2023 night in this hotel and felt this is horrible. Unclean swimming pool .. broken washrooms ( check the one in lobby)

We went for lunch with my family and my two nephews. We ordered a seafood plater and it was very expensive not enough for one person. Even the other food also the same quantity wise very poor not worth for the money we spent. Before going think twice.

We went there to have lunch on a Sunday afternoon & we had a really bad experience. Bad service- no manners when they serve, clearly under trained staff. Over priced food that was not even tasty! Took a really long time to serve when there was hardly anyone at the hotel. Don’t recommend anyone to go there !

Stayed at Avenra hotel since we had to attend a wedding there. The rooms were in bad state. Doors were broken, there were cob webs in the room, curtains were dirty and the toilets didn't look that great. When we checked in to the hotel there was no one to greet. Bad service from the staff.The furniture at the reception looked so dirty. The hotel definitely needs to be refurbished. Nevertheless the wedding hall has been done up and looked good.

Worst service and rooms have cockroaches and looks like they haven’t done any Pest controls. Towels looks dirty and pool water was green colour. Hotel room doors looks dirty and rooms condition is not worth for the price paying.

This hotel does NOT deserve 3 stars and technically does not fulfill requirements of a 3 star hotel either. The towels were dirty and torn and the washroom had shower curtains that sticks to your body when you take a bath! There was no telephone in the room (3 stars??) The dinner was awful and the staff was too lazy to even offer some water and had to ask for it! The car park was too small for the size of this hotel. Definitely overpriced. Avoid this hotel at all cost or you will be disappointed. Try searching along the lines there are much better hotels close-by. Don’t-be deceived with 3 star rating, this hotel nearly meets some requirements of a 2 star hotel!! 👎

Buffet, Pool, View & Services are just....Splendid! Rooms have to be maintained better as there seems to be broken showers etc... Take a stroll in the beach @ night if you want to have the best experience.. Eagerly waiting to visit this property again for the memories it holds!! 💙

The hotel is situated in a scenic location close to the beach. Therefore it was very relaxing. The staff was friendly and attentive. The rooms were well kept .The food was tasty as well . We had a pleasant stay.

Loved the facilities in terms of the pool, Open beach area, access to shops and the general relaxed charming atmosphere in the lobby. The room was extremely comfortable as well as the bed. It was in fact very difficult to get out of bed in the morning due to the comfortable feeling in the room. More over getting delivered the breakfast to the room was more easy. In room ,dining was so much nicer and food was delivered on time. good service from friendly staff. We had an amazing time. Definitely we’ll visit again. Highly recommend

This is a half star. Travelling group off 22 from Australia. Worst rooms we had the whole trip. Run down. Sheets and towels all dirty, brown and the bed full of sand. Mould in all rooms I went too. The bathrooms weredisgusting. The rust, mould and slime. The shower broke. The pool had slime and algae.

A national disgrace and should be closed. We could not have a shower for two days as all the fittings were broken and water floored into our room, in addition the air conditioner did not work. I spoke to the general manager who had no answers but just apologise which I refused to accept. The service, food and the calibre of staff is well below standard who could not speak a word of English. They only shook their heads for yes and no and could not communicate.

View is nice but the rooms and washrooms are not. Specially the bidet shower that has no pressure control - It's like you are using a pressure gun lol. In fact, my mum got hurt. We told this to the hotel Manager but his answer was that its because the water tank was full. We went there because there were no availability over the weekend. The staff was friendly. But please be careful with the bidet shower - Not kidding.

Went here for a wedding. Have a nice looking wedding hall with a dancing floor and eye catching lights. Food is not exceptional. But not bad. Have parking for a few vehicles in front of the hotel and there is a security person also. There is a swimming pool with a beach view.

The staff hospitality was too good. But all other things I would rate zero since the bed gives you a terrible sound as you can't even turn on the bed. The washroom gives a very bad smell. Same time though we had booked full FB basis we had to pay for the water separately, the water bottles MRP was 180/- but we had to pay 300/- for the bottle. Out of all we had booked the hotel since they had mention there is a candle light dinner but unfortunately we couldn't even look for a candle during the dinner finally ended with despair...

Great location and very friendly staff but the rooms were very basic. Often no hot water for showers, there was sand on the floor when I arrived and blood stained doona on the bed. The sliding door to the balcony wouldn’t open or close which resulted in a constant stream of warm air into the room. The fridge wasn’t working initially but they did fix it. The food was quite good especially the curries. It was overpriced for what was provided. Loud disco music was played all day in mail about 10pm but they did turn it down when asked to.

Do NOT stay here! When we first arrived we thought wow this looks beautiful, the pool and beach facilities are nice HOWEVER the rooms are very dirty, ants crawling over the surfaces and in the pillows and bed. We slept without pillows because of the insects. Additionally the shower and bathroom was vile. A moldy shower curtain attached with cable ties. Turning the shower in resulted in water spraying in every directions. To top the night off a woman was attacked in the corridor outside our room. It was a traumatic experience and I understand out with the hotels control. The woman was severely attacked (as in blood down the corridor and screaming) and the police were not called. Not only was the cleanliness an issue but it made us feel very unsafe in the hotel. There are many beautiful places in hikkaduwa - look elsewhere is my strongest recommendation.

We thought of going for NYE attracted by the live band and cultural show. We wanted to see a bit of authentic Sri Lanka. Seems that is chaos. For the first 30 min to an hour we felt we were in an episode of Benny Hill. I've never seen more people being collectively useless as the waiters at this place. Also, you host a NYE party and you have no wines, no whiskey bottles...🙄 Most of the food was uneatable. Fruit was good.

My Wedding was functioned at Avenra Beach Hotel in a very challenging situation and on an even controversial date (21st of April, 2022) too. At middest massive obstacles which derived from the Economic crisis and Pandemic situation Hotel Management provided exceptional service and support that lead my ever dreamed function to a grate reality and a wonderful memory. Every program item in my agenda had precisely delivered in time without any further direction. I can't specify in each single aspect because overall aspects are well covered fascinatingly by the Hotel Staff, who are very professional in event management. I can trustfully recommend this beautiful hotel and its magnificent staff service to anyone who wishes to have memorable events at this venue in his/her life. Thank You Team Avenra 😍 ❤️

It's a nice place with a beautiful view point to the sea. Friendly staff with good food stuff. Banquet hall also very good.

I had a really bad experience at this hotel, and I want to share my honest review. We went here for a wedding ceremony, and unfortunately, One of my friends faced a terrible situation with the hotel staff.There were some issues during our stay, but instead of trying to find out what happened, the staff just attacked my friend. It was so rude. When we decided to leave because of the incident, they even laughed at us. They have no idea how to treat their customers properly. Finally, after a lot of trouble, they admitted the problem was their fault, but no action has been taken on behalf of my friend so far. Overall, it was the worst experience I've ever had, and I'm really disappointed. They need to learn how to handle situations and treat people with respect. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We had a wedding party on 25th July 2022 here and we couldn’t have been more happier with how everything went! The staff and the management were very supportive and professional from the start. Especially Mr Vaas who was our coordinator for the function. Highly recommended!

I thought this hotel is the one of best one but room is very dirty especially bathroom is very very bad. Remote for air conditioner not working, bed is too noisy and mattress warn. We had our lunch when we arrived it was too much chilli in it. Bathroom door can't lock and the shower curton is dirty, tv not working. swimming pool not too bad and staff okay. I'm not recommending anyone at the moment unless they renovated.

We had our wedding in the avenra beach hotel. The Staff was very friendly, specially “ Mr Vas( manager). They provided good service throughout our wedding. The food was very delicious. Highly recommend!!

I had my weddings in Avenra Beach hotel.One of the best wedding hall in down south.Beautiful wedding hall,dance floor, lighting and everything perfect. Specially i want to mention the Hotel management.They are very kind and very friendly.Specially the manager Mr Vass.He has lot of experience.He helped lot to success our day. Assistant Manager, Main chef gave us lot of details when selecting the menu.. We spent additional two days in this hotel.Rooms,foods everything are perfect.Hotel team are very friendly.They are always with the good smile.

Went to family wedding. Beautiful location near to th beach. Looking wonderful with the lampshades and bulbs. Good friendly service. Meals are delicious. Various types of deserts with new invention like icecream kottu. Huge hall. Parking is sufficient but may be insufficient with big crowd. Overall good hotel.

Highly not recommended. My wedding function was held on 2022 May. Due to the critical situation of the country, my function was postponed by hotel management. I tried to contact banquet manager and his phone was off on the day before the function. After other managers contacted me and held the function after 3days. Management was not friendly with my flora team also. Food is fine. Location is ok. But top level management is not friendly and rude. Only the managers Mr. Rathnayake and devinda were supportive throught the function. Room’s are old. Not in good quality. TV is not working. But have to mention again food is fine. I would not recommend here for a wedding because of the lack of communication and bad service of management.

I went with my two kids on 1st of October as they had a children's day function, thinking it would be a great experience to my kids. With us joined two of my friends with their families includin kids too. That was the worst children's day function ever. It was poorly organized as lots of people were there. They have accepted all without any managemnet. We went there around 3pm it was like a pola. What we expected was a calm children's day with some activities. We haved booked full board..but even at 8.30 pm there were no space in main restaurant to dine in for us. When we asked the management they said there was unexpected croud so we had wIted in side the restaurant for 4t mins. keeping kids starving. and yawning. As they were not ready to serve us dinner inside the restaurant we requested for refund and came back. This was the worst hotel experience and also as soon as we used hair dryer power went off. this has happend twice.Rooms are not clean as well. very poor services.

Location was superb including the rooms and pool was really nice and perfect. However the food was average considering the portion taste and quality(We offered the set menus since it was off season) . Service was not that bad.

Worst experience ever. Rooms were very dirty and smelly. As we observed the bedsheets were not changed when they gave us the rooms. And the staff was very unprofessional. Their behavior is not acceptable at all. If I can rate this below than 1 star, I will happily do it. Seriously, its that bad. Not recommending to anyone.
