Well now I’m a sichuan Chinese fan after trying here for the first time. Been here few times and have tried their various vegetarian options. My fav are wontons, dry tofu & beans.

Quite disappointed from this visit to Qi. Have been to Qi in 2018 and had a wonderful dining experience. This time around while the Dan Dan wontons & Mapo Tofu were delicious, was equally disappointed with stir fry veggies and fried rice. The veggies only consisted of bok choy & lacked flavour. The fried rice were too dry.

I’m beginning to think the Michelin inspectors had a bit of a party when over in Hong Kong and started handing out stars like fortune cookies. One thing is for sure; ‘service’ seems to be one aspect they overlooked. The food here is ok, and whilst it may set your mouth alight in true Sichuan fashion, it’s memorable only for the wrong reasons. The appetisers or sweetcorn soup and dumplings were great. The Iberian pork main was superbly tender, but the squid was chewy and over-cooked. The spinach came with a complimentary hair; a fact I would have raised with the staff had anybody been interested in our table. The food came at odd times - something I’d expect at a more casual chain eatery, but not at an establishment like this. Our order was initially misplaced and required a second visit from the waiter. We waited ages for our table to be cleared and not once were we asked how our food was. The restaurant was barely 50% full at 8pm on a Friday night - says it all really. The staff were totally disinterested. We gazed on in horror at the table next to us as a waiter set down a huge bowl of soup, nudging the glasses out of the way with the bowl, almost knocking them over. The guy eating had to shout at the waiter to stop his stupidity. Common sense, please! The staff were an uncoordinated shambles, and not of the standard we have come to expect from restaurants awarded with Michelin accolades. It’s a shame because the food was ok, but we won’t ever be returning purely because of the shoddy service. Might I suggest to the management they get their staff properly trained, and perhaps visit Michelin-starred restaurants in London to see exactly how service should run.

Absolutely amazing. One of the best meals I’ve had in hk. We called ahead to ask about gluten free options & the chef had gone and bought GF ingredients so I could eat everything. Incredible dinner & will 100% go back

Appalling service. The manager was incompetent, tired to sell us wine we hadn’t asked for, menu was incorrect. Forced us to pay a service charge. Rude staff,a really horrible and disappointing Restaurant.

Came in at 6 pm on a Tuesday to try as we love Sichuan style food back home. The restaurant had just opened so we were able to easily get a table. The decor is very nice wood in reds and blacks and they do have an outdoor seating area available. The menu was in both Cantonese and English and had a helpful key letting first timers know the relative spice of a dish, if it is a popular pick, etc. We ordered the dumplings in chili oil, spicy string beans with pork, and a spicy Iberico pork dish (all three were tagged as popular picks) as well as a few cocktails. Everything came out quickly and was delicious! The servers were very attentive and asked about our trip which was very nice! We also inquired and were able to pay via credit card (VISA, MasterCard for sure not sure about AMEX) - may be obvious, but we couldn't find an answer prior to arrival so this was nice to learn.

Been there 5-6 times in the past 6 months and absolutely love their braised fish fillets in chili oil soup and sweet and sour prawns, but not-at-all a fan of their cocktails. However, I have grown more and more reluctant to revisit each time due to the ultra dismissive attitude from the team (which I see it in some of the previous comments as well). Even for quiet days with only 2-3 tables of diner in the restaurant, the team would still be unnecessarily rude to you.

Went for lunch on a weekday. The portions surprisingly huge for lunch. Added full portion prawns and red bean pancake because had no idea the portion would be so big. Had better Sichuan food before so may not revisit

Mala Beef taste like a chili mated with bag of sugar. So sweet we couldn't even finish it. Worst Sichuan I've had in Hong Kong so far. Absolute rubbish.

The environment is quite relaxing. I guess this is a high class restaurant, that's why they are charging 70 dollars for a bottle of water. Sichuan cuisine is known to have a strong flavor, however the spicy fish in sweet and chili sauce is a bit too salty for what I'm used to. The spicy pork fried rice is well cooked with the right amount of seasoning, managed not to be overly oily.

Went on my birthday with the fam!! Ordered everything vegetarian again. Great food, not the first time for my fam but my first. Wontons were amazing in Chilli oil. The beans, the fried tofu!! All great. Mapo Tofu was nice. Rice cake and soup, Dan Dan noodles all vegan! The spice , the quantity everything was great except the service. Felt judged , paid money to cut cake in the restaurant. Desserts were just okay. Ice cream wasn’t real coconut. The martini was good.

The place was easy enough to find, the food was spectacular, spicy, rich and full of flavour. Mouth watering chicken, drunken chicken, crispy ginger beef and the cumin lamb with roasted chilis were really good and I would recommend ordering. Service was great through the meal but we felt a little abandoned once the plates were cleared. No immediate offer for desert or cheque. Great dinner, will return next time I'm in Hong Kong.

Food was very good, but CAUTION! Everything was very spicy. I guess I'm used to American Sichuan restaurants, but even their spiciest is nothing compared to how spicy the food at Qi was. The braised beef in chili oil soup was not only extremely spicy, but it was also extremely large (even the regular size).

Michelin-starred (until 2019) Sichuan place. I love the food here - nothing too overwhelmingly spicy but still the taste is on point.

  • 4/5 M H. 6 years ago on Google
Good Sichuan food. We really liked the chili oil wontons, the cumin pork ribs (our favorite) and the chili-miso fish. The eggplant dish was only soso. A bit too expensive for what you get. The balcony is nice - if it is warm enough: get a table outside!

Worst restaurant for vegetarian jain food. Havent eat such tasteless food in Hongkong till date. And staff was also pathetic. He would shout at us if we asked something. Not at all worth your money. There are much better restaurants for chinese food for vegetarians in Hongkong. I would never ever visit here again. For example we had ordered vegetable fried rice and they served us just chilli and plain white rice, no any vegetables inside. I wonder why so many people praised this restaurant so I had gone to try once, but this was the first and the last time we had visit here

Just heed their warning – the menu is not for the faint-hearted. Unless you have a high tolerance for spice, dishes from the Sichuan region really differs from the sweet, sour, and salty preparations of other Chinese regions. Even if you’ve been to a Sichuan restaurant outside of China, you may not be prepared. I was no match for Qi. Learn from my mistake. Here are three words of advice: 1. Skip the hot and sour soup While the hot and sour soup ($60 a bowl) was tasty, incorporating plenty of thinly julienned ingredients so that each bite was a mix of flavours and textures, the soup was so hot (in terms of spice and temperature) that your tongue will be scorched by the time you’re even a third of the way through. Good luck handling anything else. 2. Balance out the meal with non-spicy dishes A good ratio to aim for is about 50/50. Thinking the sugar glazed ginger and scallion beef ($160) would be a dish with respite, in the dark dining room we didn’t notice the chili beside the name on the menu. Indeed, with the first bite you’re greeted with a crispy crust and aromatic syrupy sauce… but then the chili dust mixed into the batter erupts into the mouth. Nonetheless, it’s mellower than all the other dishes we tried, except for the mouthwatering chicken where the diner controls the spice level. 3. Arm yourself with plenty of water and a cold milk tea The restaurant is smart to include a bottle of water at every table. In the heat of the moment, you’ll find yourself reaching for it ($70) – although I did see some tables ask them to switch the bottles for a regular pitcher. Yet, it was the cold milk tea ($45) that offered the most respite. The sweet cooling dairy temporarily quenching the flames. It was the only thing that allowed me to try everything twice, although my husband and I eventually had to tap out and leave most dishes half done.

(Translated by Google) 4/5 Only when I arrived I found out that it was Mizhilian, but many of them were in the middle, but this one is very good! The snack Sanwei is already spicy. Every dish here is spicy, but each dish is different. The level of style and spice combination is really high. In addition, the ingredients are of course not random. The stuffing for fried hands in red oil, prawn balls, bamboo shoots, and boiled fish fillets are all the chef’s skills. The hot and sour soup is even more outstanding, with a balance of hot and sour, and the right intensity. Of course, it is also a bit of a fly in the ointment. The chicken of the saliva chicken has no chicken flavor, the half meat flavor is not good enough, and the vermicelli in the boiled fish is too soft. Even the ice cream in their home is better than outside! (Google translate) Only when I arrived I found out that it was Mizhilian, but many of them were in the middle, but this one is very good! Totally worth it and even though is ranked among one of the best restaurant, price is quite fair (30€/pers). I have been told by my friend in HK about Chinese cuisine, and I wasn't disappointed at all. In Belgium, we don't have much Chinese place that excels. I was in shocked when I could finally, after 28y of ignorance, discover what it really was. Thumbs up for house of Qi. Super spicy beware ! But EXCELLENT.

The spicy fish (水煮魚) was awesome, easily qualifies as one of the best in town, so as their fried dumplings (鍋貼), I think they put glutinous rice in the skin resulting in all that chewy goodness. Everything else were just mediocre at best. But the spicy fish and the fried dumplings alone are enough to make me return again and again.
