The people were more friendly before all these Michelin star awards. Came many years ago. Short queue and friendly attendants. With awards, they got busy, rude and inflexible. The food was as good as before. Juicy roasted goose. Will come back for the food but not the service.

Probably one of the best Roast Goose among the top best in Hong Kong, with the most reasonable prices. Their goose is fresh and well marinated, skin remains crispy and light. Rice flavourful with the roast Goose drippings and the meats tender. Great for a taste of no frill Hong Kong Roast Goose.

Came here 3 years ago. Now they added more Michelin stars till the present. Last time I had the goose leg on rice. Great taste. Succulent. The skin was crispy and the meat was marinated well. This time I opted for the goose leg with noodles with soup. The goose was still the same great thing. The soup base was fantastic as it was not overly salty. The downer was the noodles - lai fun. IMHO the noodles were slightly under cooked as some of the ends were still stuck together. The springiness was there, but definitely not was I was used to in Toronto. The noodles in Toronto are slightly thicker and more opaque. Whereas the noodles here are thinner and varied inbetween translucent to opaque. From what I remember, the prices have not changed so thumbs up for keeping it the same aster all these years.

Still the best roast goose in town. Juicy, tasty and tender. NOTICE the plum sauce. It looks like its home made. Does not taste like a generic bottled one. The pork belly here is also excellent tender and crispy. Id say top 3 on my list for this particular dish. The goose is absolutely the best for me in Hong Kong so far!!

Still the best Roast Goose. And not available jn Singapore. At Yat Lok Roast Goose 一乐烧鹅,their meat is still the most tender and tasty, while the skin remains crispy. Their gravy is awesome, and goes well with rice. The last time I ate here was in 2019, before COVID struck, but the owners, staff and quality of food remain. With lesser crowds, we could get seats almost immediately and did not have to squeeze into a corner. At Central MTR, exit D2, cross the road then walk along Stanley Road. #choowai2022 #wongchoowaieats #wongchoowai #yatlok #yatlokroastgoose #roastgoose #roastgoosehk #sgfoodinfluencers #sgfoodbloggers #sgfoodshare#sgfoodies #lunch #yummy #yummyfood #yummyyummy

(Translated by Google) The roasted goose is delicious here !! I want to go back here soon to eat another portion of roasted goose. So good in taste. Better if the restaurant further up the street and much cheaper. Very good price / quality ratio. (Original) De geroosterde gans is hier heerlijk!! Ik wil hier snel weer heen om nog een portie geroosterde gans te eten. Zo goed van smaak. Beter als het restaurant verder op in de straat en stukken goedkoper. Zeer goede prijs / kwaliteit verhouding.

Would return. Its good. Give it a go - debate about stars, well - frankly its tough to debate. I've never had the same hk bbq taste twice in my life - across 3 different countries. Flavours were very strong - you need some rice with this. Honestly its really good quality, and Michelin general judge on consistency, so don't let extreme reviews sway you one way or another - if you're a foodie just do it. Is it worth lining up? Luckily I didn't have to - I'm going to say no, its not worth waiting an exceptionally long time for this.

The roasted goose is very tasty. The menu has english translation so English speaking tourists will not get confused. If you opt for takeaway, you can ask the staff to separate the soup from the noodles.

Roast goose is one of Hong Kong staple dishes and the one Michelin star Yat Lok Roast Goose on Stanley Street that has a history going back to 1957 has been touted as possibly the best purveyor of this delicacy. The meat is marinated with a secret recipe and goes through an elaborate preparation process to deliver the tasty, succulent end product. Despite its fame and legacy, my dinner takeaway of roast goose leg and soy chicken on dry noodles for $190 failed to titillate enough for the expected 5-star meal and the <4 star composite rating and some of the comments also appear to agree.

Worst experience I ever had in HK. 12 geese hanging around me but they wouldn’t sell a goose drumstick to me because I responded in Mandarin. Responded rudely that there is none for me when I questioned them. Customers who came after me ordered them without any issue, in Cantonese of course. The dislike for mainland Chinese is obvious. Even though I’m not from there, but because they couldn’t differentiate Mandarin accents from other countries, I was treated in the same way. Terrible culture and absolutely mediocre roast goose, not sure what’s the fuss about.

Does this very local BBQ joint with chairs and table felt like from the ghetto area deserve a Michelin star 8 years in a row? I really don’t know. But it definitely serve you a plate of quality Hong Kong style BBQ rice/noodle within a minute or two that most people will enjoy. Very good comfort food. Go for the goose thigh meat and half fatty half skinny BBQ pork (半肥廋Char Siu).

Welcoming, went without the crowd but still felt a little stressful. Rushed my food and leave the place. Pretty pricey. Goose was tasty but quite oily. I wouldn't recommend the roast pork. It's so salty and not worth, but maybe its individual taste preference

The food was genuinely awful. The waitress was rude and wiping her runny nose with the same hand she served food (no gloves either) soup dry noodles had an awful bitter aftertaste, no idea where it came from it did not taste like food, more like a chemical. The staff were all rude. The goose was okay. Greasy and quite bony. Nothing special. They cleared out plates before we had finished eating. I would definitely not go again.

Roasted goose was yummy. Crispy skin & tender meat. Would have given 5stars if not for the staff’s horrible service. Service 👎🏽. 2A1C (child 5yo) patronized for dinner. We ordered 2 plates of rice but were told that because we took up 3 seats, we have to order more as there’s a minimum charge per headcount (no such rules pasted on the shopfront). I explained that my 5yo child can’t eat much so sharing food with me (which is totally normal, ask any parents). But the staff insisted we order more otherwise we have to carry our child with us & give up 1 seat. The place was already very cramp, totally impossible to carry my 5yo on my lap to eat my dinner. So we asked if we can order 2 more drinks instead & the staff finally obliged. Although food was nice, I would never patronize again in the future. Thanks, but no thanks.

Located a little off from Central, Yat Lok is a bit of an institution for roast goose in Hong Kong. Still very low key and family run, the restaurant continues to maintain its Michelin star, and there is a reason why. The roast goose and barbecue pork is some of the best in the city, and the prices are extremely reasonable. This place gets crowded, especially around lunch time when you will probably experience a line. It is cash only. $350 will feed a couple with a moderate appetite.

Fantastic roast goose. The meat was succulent and juicy while the skin was fragrant and crispy. Beijing dumplings not bad too. Service was fast due to the large crowd. We waited for at least half an hour cos there were 4 of us. Would be better if go in smaller groups or split up.

This is my favorite roast goose/bbq pork joint in HK. Super fast service, cheap for the size of portions given, and the meat is so tender and flavorful. If you’re solo, the small portion is plenty, medium could feed 2 people easily. Small shop so maybe get takeaway!

  • 5/5 Abraham L. 5 months ago on Google
The food makes up for the pretty average service but from the amount of people visiting, it makes sense to focus on the crowd turnover .. all their meats were tender, succulent and juicy. The roast goose has the be the highlight! The place is rather small and be prepared to share the table with others if you come as a pair. We came around 530pm on a Friday and luckily didn’t have to wait for long. There was a queue forming outside shortly after though. If you hadn’t noticed, Michelin star consecutively since 2015 (yes I counted the signages haha)

This used to be a good place, but the last two times have not been impressive. Ordered roast goose/bbq pork rice. Goose was mainly skin and the bbq pork was dry (see photo). Maybe Yat Lok used to be better, but right now they’re shockingly below average.

Based in Central. This place offers goose that arrives within minutes of ordering. It’s quick, affordable and tasty. The skin on the goose is not crispy but is flavorful and has a tiny bit of crunch to it. For a quick lunch it’s perfect and sets you up for an afternoon of shopping or whatever you have planned.

  • 1/5 Andrea B. 2 years ago on Google
Nothing special, just a lot of fuss and that's it! We wanted to try it, but I assure you that it has nothing special compared to the other thousands of restaurants in Hong Kong, similar with the same menu, and the best you can find, wandering around the city. Certainly this hole does not deserve the stars assigned so far, only clamor and nothing more Not recommended

The roast goose is literally to die for. Don't go there & complain about the service. It's a local place, they don't really do service like you expect. Just order, shut up & enjoy the heavenly goose.

Best goose I've had in hong kong so far. not too saucy, plenty of crispy and juicy fat with lots of flavour. I just wish the portions were bigger. Price is pretty OK. Michelin rating is deserved. I came to dine alone and the staff took me in immediately. I had to sit at a table of strangers, but hey - that is hong kong for you.

  • 5/5 O. S. 2 years ago on Google
One of the best goose rice I've tasted. The queue was long but the wait was not as long as I expected. Service is fast and good. Value for money. Would come back for more.

Truly deserving of its Michelin Star, this restaurant serves the best roasted goose in the region, hands down. The skin was crispy while the flesh is tender and had so much flavour you keep wanting to go back for more. I think the secret also lies with its secret sauce used to drizzle every plate. Do be prepared to brave the queues and expect packed seating environment as you will most likely be sharing tables with other patrons. Highly recommended for all travellers going to Hong Kong.

  • 4/5 Mark W. 4 months ago on Google
Really tasty roast goose and char siew, average roast pork belly. Very crowded so we had to share a table (which seems to be the norm in HK) and quite expensive for what is delivered. I would come back for the goose specifically though.

  • 5/5 S M. 4 months ago on Google
Come here just for the goose and pay no attention to service or atmosphere. Flavourful and fatty. Can skip the char Siu. Siew yoke is decent and worth a try. Opens at 10am and when we arrived at 9.50 there is already a queue. So come early

  • 4/5 Sherwin Clarence G. 4 months ago on Google
The only reason this is truly worth it is THE FOOD. The Goose is so juicy and so are the roasted pork combos such in either roasted or barbequed variant to pair with the goose. You can even take a whole goose back home and they will pack it nicely. The servers are mostly rude and always trying to rush you but that is just part of it and nothing personal. They do smile and thank you after dining. If you don't like to queue an alternative is for ordering, take outs and just eating it at your hotel. The place is small, cramped and you can be seated with strangers in one table. I would definitely eat again if I am back in HK but next time just a take out as to not line up again and feel rushed to eat.

Enormously delicious roasted goose drumstick rice noodles deserved it’s Michelin one-star. The skin is very crispy, and the goose meat is juicy and flavorful. You need to ask for the sour plum sauce if you like to dip the goose meat in it like I do. Also I personally prefer the roasted goose over the rice noodles rather than plain rice because it adds flavor to the broth.

  • 4/5 P L. 1 year ago on Google
Yat Lok is a Hong Kong establishment. It's long held a very positive reputation for it's roast goose done in the traditional Cantonese style. I had lunch there recently on a weekend to avoid the weekday worker rush. The food was still good, with the goose meat very rich and flavorful, and the skin nice and crisp. Prices have gone up a lot though, and from a value point of view you can probably find better options now.

  • 5/5 Mark S. 1 year ago on Google
Great siu mei option in Central that's gotten a lot of praise over the years plus a Michelin star rankings. Unlike other such places the quality of the food has remained consistent despite its increased recognition. Usually packed with a line of people waiting to get in, staff are trying to turn over tables quickly and may at times come off as grumpy but that's part of the charm of this place. Most diners love the roast goose while my favorites are the roast pork and bbq pork dishes with a side of choi sum w/ oyster sauce.

  • 4/5 徐继明Amen 3 years ago on Google
Quite expensive, HKD175 for a quarter of roasted goose and HKD17 for plain rice. But really worth it to give a try when visit HongKong. Very delicious roasted goose and I addicted with the chili oil.

Firstly I would probably change into a pair of Vibram Megagrip trail running shoes to this place since the floor is so oily. The goose is really good but the servings are quite small and getting kind of pricey for what it is. Get ready to play footsies with the stranger 1m opposite you if you’re going at a busy time. The chilli oil is kapow! so less is more. Nice place to take visitors although that’s not very relevant information at the moment.

HKD $60 for a bowl of noodles with roast goose and roast pork. Really decent but not overly mind blowing. One of the best around but I believe many stalls come rather close. Packed with tourists so don’t come in big groups. Ok for a good meal around the Central area. Way more value for money than many top restaurants.

  • 4/5 Eric K. 4 years ago on Google

  • 5/5 Phillip F. 4 years ago on Google
YUMMMM!! This place is in my opinion is quintessential Hong Kong goose/roasted meats. You are seated very promptly and they have English menus (just ask). We came twice and tried the goose, pig, and chicken- all very yummy! And the prices are pretty good. Service is nice and fast, don't forget to ask for the green onion! Didn't get to try the noodles but I doubt they are anything below superb. Big tip though, be sure to order the breast or the leg, that's where most of the flavor and the meat is. The skin on the goose we had was nice and crispy which paired well with a succulent, juicy, and smoky meat underneath. Truly cannot wait to return :)

  • 5/5 Devin T. 5 years ago on Google
Reached at 11am to avoid the lunch crowd, didn't have to queue, got a seat for 4 immediately. The size of restaurant is small, I feel that staff are more friendly during off peak times, a bit of small talk and make recommendations.. had experience fair share of impatience when restaurant was packed and queue of customers waiting outside. Roast Goose was delicious😋 We had a satisfying good meal.. so good that my friend bought the whole roast goose nicely packed in a box! 👍🏻
