Vegan + vegetarian options galore!! Locally owned speciality grocery market so its a bit pricier than other super markets. This market is newly built/modern, clean and well kept. Service here is friendly and helpful. Outdoor seating area along Keawe St Inside has ample seating options as well. Great place to wait for your pizza to be made Prepared foods like lasagna, Sandwiches and wraps are tasty and readily available. The hot food section is also great. Parking entrances along South St, Keawe St and Pohukaina. Take a ticket and Down to Earth will validate for you at cashier/check out for 2 hours.

Even with the vagrants living every twenty feet alongside the adjoining and adjacent streets around the establishment, the staff is really good at keeping them off the property with little or no help from the resident security gaurds. I witnessed this firsr hand as I had my breakfast outside a secure seating area. This place has a very good selection of organic type foods, condiments, supplements , etc. Possibly a lot better than the "other food store". The areas where fresh food is served is much much cleaner than the other place.

Attractive natural foods grocery store, with self-care products like medicinal items and shampoo. Also has a hot food counter and salad bar, everything of which looks delicious. The kombucha wall is impressive (prices are a bit steep, though this applies to the entire shop). Has some local brands, yay. Lots of different types of chocolate bars. For whatever reason, the receipts are a mile long, which seems a strange and unfortunate use of paper, particularly for a shop like this, with its reputed earth-friendly bent.

Love this DTE location. Parking is validated (by a machine close to the front entrance, so quick and easy). The store is clean, organized and fully stocked. I could spend hrs here! I was looking for a mushroom supplement and I was so surprised by the selection, especially the support to a product made in Hawai'i (see picture). As a sober person, I was also surprised by their botanical teas, hop waters and other nonalcoholic selection. Sparkling Botanicals by Rishi Brand is just lovely (and absolutely sugar free). While browsing, I was asked multiple times if I needed assistance which shows how great their customer service is. Though I didn't get hot, prepared food this time, they have an amazing selection and everything is so delicious. So glad DTE exists! Mahalo

We're baaack!🤗 My Honey and I visited DTE this past Sat for lunch. We ordered our burgers (again!), only this time I tried the lavosh wrap. Just like my first experience-the burger was absolutely delish! The veggies are so fresh and crisp. The Beyond Burger was insanely juicy and yummy! Although, I did not care for the lavish wrap. Reminds me of a wheat tortilla, only slightly thicker. The sandwich was "toasted," but it didn't seem to be toasted. Wrap was still soft. I expected it to be a little toasty. Oh well 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷‍♂️I had a hot chocolate with my meal. I really enjoyed that! It was made with coconut milk and had a generous sprinkling of cinnamon! So yummy😋 After lunch, we got food from the self-serve. We had enough food for the next 4 or 5 meals!!! What did we have? Eggplant Parmigian, Meatballs😋, Curried rice (dried out, so I just sprinkled water all over it before sticking it in the microwave), mock barbeque chicken wings 😋😋😋(I was really pleased with the texture and flavors! Yum!), mock chicken and luncheon meat musubi (have yet to try it!), and some other veggie dishes. Like I said, when I get food to go-i have enough for the upcoming week and my Honey's lunch for work. 😉😁 Thank you for another great experience! 🥰

Wow! This is what a health food store should look like. I'm from the Big Island, we have island naturals, which is mediocre, and abundant life in Hilo which is a little bit better, but nothing like down to earth. The selection was astonishing, the place looked like it had just gone through a Marie Kondo organization redo, and the prices were actually very reasonable. We got packaged food as well as hot food from the recently opened hot and cold bar. I asked if they were considering bringing a store to the big island but no plans yet. If they came here they would put the other health food stores out of business in about 2 weeks.

Visiting as a manager at a different co-op on the mainland I was incredibly impressed by several things: most noticeably the lack of holes on their shelves. Nearly every aisle and department was fully stocked. The staff was friendly in a genuine manner. (Aloha to Norma who was helping out from a neighboring store that day!) The hot bar looked incredibly fresh and staff served it, lowering the risk of cross contamination and other ickiness. Prices were good, really good actually. Prepared foods all looked amazing and produce had a wide selection of interesting items, too. The Wellness and Home goods departments had so many locally made items; from shampoo and soap to cookbooks and jewelry. If I lived in Hawaii I would shop here daily and try to work there, too.

It’s a pricy grocery store overall, although there might be some value areas. I ordered Uber Eats when I needed delivery one day, and it came very quickly. The grilled “cheese” (cheese substitute) wasn’t great, but that just might be how fake cheese works. Doesn’t add much flavor and doesn’t melt properly. The bread was nicely toasted. The pitaya smoothie was good, not inexpensive, but I like that they offer different sizes, and for the amount it was probably average price for Honolulu based on the few places I’ve seen.

Always friendly as a rule, well stocked, but far too much Palm Oil or derivations that of in the food. Prices are of course inflated, but some are downright ridiculous.

You can buy healthy take out food there and enjoy it at the outdoor cafe tables while watching the locals parade by their fancy-breed pet dogs.

Lots of things are great about this place. Lots of vegetarian options... The one drawback is that it is way overpriced.

Vegetarian grocery/deli with many vegan options. Many grab n go lunch/dinner items. Local souvenirs, great selection of supplements, fresh wok dishes and juices made while you wait. Can order ahead for pick up. Nice clean store.

Wonderful grocery store! Loved their hot foods section with all the plant-based options. Discounted options also available later in the day, like musubis and pizza. Great service every time we have been there. Very inclusive environment. Not the cheapest grocery store, but wonderful for many heath-promoting foods and options. Also love their bulk section.

Great ready to eat meals. Little on pricey side but it is all vegetarian and really tasty. The 'chicken' tofu adobo was one the best adobo I ever had, and definitely the healthiest.

Down to Earth is the local version of Sprouts or Trader Joe’s, with a unique and highly desirable selection. It’s Disneyland for health-nuts, especially for peeps like us with a gluten intolerance and a keto diet. Everything is clean, well stocked, abundant, and delicious. Not pictured here is the amazing, out of this world vegan, gluten-free spread we ordered for Thanksgiving. Honest to goodness out of this world delicious stuff. And it wasn’t an absolute cluster f..k like WFs was. Just saying. And we had to pick up our outrageously priced cold turkey from there so we know. This place is a jewel. See photos of the awesome selection.

I love coming to Down to Earth for the amazing choice of local/ organic vegetables and their dark chocolate is always the best deals around. I stop by pretty frequently about 2 to 3 times a week, but every I go in and see Mildred working I know she’s going to start problems. Every time I check out I try to avoid her checkout line. I usually stop by in the morning when she’s usually there and her attitude ruins my entire whole morning/day. I love how Down to Earth is very convenient for me because it’s on the way to work. But I think I’m going start shopping at Whole Foods from now on. Mahalo Down to Earth

Love this store but it has one huge flaw: so often I get home to discover the fruit I’ve bought is moldy, overripe, or otherwise inedible. Really unacceptable considering the premium prices for organic. Please check and restock your fruit more often!
