Taste! Taste won. It was the taste of everything that won me over. They had a huge selection of the tastiest food. Especially enjoyed the grilled fish. And there was something on the southernmost counter of food that I really loved: it had small shrimp, fresh jalapeno slices, in a red sauce. So delicious. Everything tasted differently delicious.

We gave it a chance, and it is what is. We come to a buffet because you can walk right up and get the things you like. Unfortunately, this buffet doesn’t refresh things that are out quickly. I was even surprised they ran out of white rice. So, it was hit or miss the evening we went. I can forgive a lot of things at a restaurant, but at a buffet, fresh food is key. I could have gone three stars, but the price you pay for the quality and lack of some foods makes it a two for me.

This is small sass Sam pl let of food I had. I had 3 plates and dessert and was stuffed when I left. Food had good selection and waitresses were on top of thing. The place was clean and made you were a disposable gloves when getting your food which was a plus. Stop bye,you wont be disappointed.

So I have had an extensive share of authentic Asian cuisine and this is not authentic. However it is a hole in the wall Chinese buffet and great if you’re on a budget and want to hang out with your family for $10 per person. Also it’s nice as a choice for a quick pick up to go option (pay by the pound) I highly recommend the egg drop soup and anything shrimp related. If you want more authentic Asian dishes, go to Mr. Cao, Koi Ramen, or Imperial Garden, but expect to pay more. For the truly adventurous save your Asian cuisine trips for Wichita, Manhattan, Lawrence, or Kansas City.

1st. The carpet was nasty, booth seats are torn. When I got there at 4:50pm they still were serving 3 hour leftovers from lunch. I was really looking forward to some Fresh veggies and good rice! But was not to be! And when they did bring out Fresh food, I was watching, they but that old nasty leftovers from lunch in with fresh!!! I will not be returning and will be telling all friends:: China Star in Hutchinson, KS. Is a awful place to eat......

Prefer to take out because it's actually cheaper than eating at the buffet, food is very good especially after being so against eating and trying to start for so many years and then recently retrying it

Facility was clean, we were seated in a timely manner. Went around the beginning of the dinner Hour, 4 p.m. Food was tasty, and fresh; unsure if because it wasn't very busy, but some foods remained 3/4 empty at the buffet for quite a while (or completely empty) before being replenished. I understand it's a matter of demand however. I could have asked and didn't. They did, however, supply spicy mayo for the sushi, upon request. All in all, Everything was very yummy 😋 was nice to go early when it wasn't so busy.

Most buffets are slim pickings and not fresh food. But this place was totally different. They had at least 5 buffet lines and ALL the food was fresh and delicious. I'll be back.

This restaurant is very clean. The food is OK, I'd say Chinese buffet average but... Unfortunately there weren't a lot of people there. What's courage the situation where the food's not always fresh, because they're not refreshing it with fresh food. But there were a lot of options and I enjoyed my dinner

Seafood was horrible (frozen to long before cooked) Most of the food had been sitting to long and was way over seasoned. Jello had way to much gelatin in it. The question is would I eat there again, absolutely not.

Solid buffet. Nice service. Food did taste like it had been our for a while, only some options though. Much of it was quite fresh

It's ghetto fabulous and for the buffet price being only 13 bucks u def get ur 💰 worth! Rarely eat there but I had 4 plates and left stuffed!

It has been a long time since I've been to China Star. This trip reminded me as to why I haven't been there in a while. I normally load up on a plate or two of the fan favorites. And was looking forward to the trip. When I got to the buffet everything was kind of meh. I didn't even bother with dessert. Service is always good so I can't knock that, but the selection has been a lot better in the past.

Pretty good buffet, one of the better ones we have been to. Good selection of food, always fresh when ever we come. Staff is friendly and is always working hard to make sure the food is topped off and everything is clean. Facility is clean and well maintained. Prices are reasonable. It doesn't hurt they have chocolate pudding which is my favorite at a buffet.

Definitely gone down hill in the last few years. Hair in buffet food? Roaches everywhere and the staff acting like it's no big deal? This is supposed to be an establishment where people come to eat and these people pay way too much to be dealing with all of this stuff! The restaurant makes or at least made enough to make changes to fix these problems but they haven't! This place NEEDS to be shut down or bought out by someone who actually CARES ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!

I was escorted to a table where a child was jumping on the seat. I said, "Oh, no. No children." Then I was taken to a table adjacent. I decided to move to a 4 top booth on the other side of the restaurant for my meal. Mid-plate, the seater told me there would be a large top (party, from back when I served tables) that would be there and so I was not allowed to sit at the 4 top because the 16+ would be near that table? Idk, I never got a full explanation why I couldn't sit there, only that I wasn't allowed. Then, when I said, "Okay, I'll leave." They attempted to make me pay? I know, I was incredulous too. So, in essence, just don't go here. You may be forced to sit near the gross demons, and if you choose to move yourself, God rest your tortured soul.

Went there with my mom and my 9 month old son they sat us quickly brought us our drinks quickly......they didn't complain about my son making loud noises (he was just babbling to everyone around us and was super excited because it was a new place) the food was good and even the people around us were really friendly towards my son and my mom and myself.

The food is yummy and there are lots of choices. Service was prompt and friendly. The building needs some cleaning snd updating. The carpet floors are disgusting. The tile floors are original and there is caked on dirt around the edges. An old, broken fountain is a huge eyesore.

Overall thought from family was the quality of the food was a little low. Oil tasted like it needed a change. There were a couple dishes that were pretty good. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place.

Took a girlfriend here for her birthday. My hubby, I & my girlfriend really enjoyed eating here. We usually do! :-) They Don't do BIRTHDAY gift cards for free on your birthday any more though. :-(

Not very good. The buffet was out of most food. The food that was there was very dry and overcooked. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

Excellent service, plenty of seating and delicious buffet. Lots of good food for a decent price. Love the large variety.

You really can't make up for bad or low quality food with quantity. I'm not sure if the Chinese restaurants cook down to their customers or they just don't know how to cook. But in tip of that's, their buffet tends to be very greasy and always cold.

Not impressed at all for my first time🤮 A chinese buffet is usually my spot to hit but if I had to come here again. I would make me a bologna sandwich instead. Food was not good at all. Everything seemed dry and over cooked. They had salad(leaves) in stand water. I'm going to stop here b/c I would be a min on how awful this was. DONT COME HERE.

Decent food, expensive though. They changed their soft serve ice cream machine for a cooler and scoops. Pretty unsanitary. Service is really good, so three stars.

Today I had went out to eat with my boyfriend here. Food was good. I was a little disappointed that they stopped doing the free birthday meals. Staff was friendly. Buffet is pretty good.

For being a buffet, there's a chance for the food to not be fresh at every hour. However, at peak hours it should be fresh. Not a single thing I got on the buffet tasted fresh. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because of the big selection.
