Absolutely unbelievable views over the old city. Felt like a hidden gem. Recommended at sunset for that perfect picture. LOTS of steps to get to the rooftop, so I’d advise the lift if you struggle with stairs. Clean and tidy throughout, and the staff were very helpful.

The cafe is a little piece of Europe (with classical music and all) to relieve your stress and have a coffee. Go to the garden and sit outside for a great view. You can also have a fine strudel.

Great place to escape the hustle and bustle of Jerusalem though the café can be busy. Plenty of space to sit either inside or outside in a courtyard under the shade of trees. I had a very authentic goulash and the coffee alone was worth the visit.

The old austrian hospice works now like a hotel in one of the most important spot i side the old city of Jerusalem. From there in walking distance you may visit most of the holy christian places. The building is old and the rooms have been renovated. The cafeteria at the reception area provides different kind of snacks and meals. Prices high as in most hostels hotels ect in Jerusalem

Right in the middle of Jerusalem's Old City you'll find this wonderful piece of Austria, almost hidden away from everything else. It has a cafe offering an authentic menu with excellent dishes and yummy desserts, and the European atmosphere to go with it, with a stupendous inside setting and an magnificent alfresco garden sitting area, to enjoy those warm summer evenings. Great place to visit when in Jerusalem.

Very nice hotel, the view from the rooftop is amazing. Must go up when you visit Jerusalem. The garden cafe is beautiful with an interesting atmosphere inside the walls of the old city of Jerusalem. The staff is always friendly and helpful

I came here to get a bite to eat with my family. Great service & location. The hospice is a quiet spot in the bustling & tight streets of the old city of Jerusalem. The servers speak English very well & the food was well made & done surprisingly efficiently. I recommend it more for date type meetings as well as a solo spot to chill out & munch.

Very unique experience in Jerusalem, you really feel in Wien for a few minutes eating your very good Schnitzel and then you get on the roof (5 shkl) and you enjoy an amazing view of Jerusalem! Very nice waiters too. Recommend the experience.

Wonderful place to relax after a hot day of walking. Lovely Cafe. Pleasant helpful staff. Lovely shaded garden. The rooftop view is a must-see. 360 panorama of Jerusalem. Best in the later afternoon with the sun reflecting off the Dome of the Rock

Nice rooftop view and great spot for a rest in the shade while touring Jerusalem. The exhibits on the walls in the hallways on each floor are interesting and informative.

Perfect respite for a coffee, strudel, and some sunshine! Beautiful grounds with plenty of varying seating arrangements: patio, garden, enclosed greenhouse, indoor cafe seating. The bistrot has a lovely selection of typical coffeehouse fare: drinks, pastries, even a limited lunch menu with salads, pastas, sandwiches, soups, etc. Furthermore, don’t miss the beautiful rooftop view on your way out!

We only visited the cafe but it was so wonderful. Amid the insane bustle of the old city is this place with a huge and gorgeous garden . The cafe is self service and you bring your food out to the tables in the garden. Great options available including large Austrian beers.

The atmosphere is pleasant, the strudel was tasty. The building itself is very nice and you can also sit in the garden outside. Most of the clients are German so it’s cool if you want this kind of atmosphere. If the door is locked during working hours, just ring the bell.

One of the worst sacher of my life! The service is simply missing, it’s self service at the bar. That’s a pity because despite this the place looks lovely. The access at the rooftop is not free.

A must stop place in the old city of Jerusalem. A little oasis of peace in the buzz hive. The Cafe is so Austrian and the roof has great view over the city. Ideally for sunset (golden hour) time. Rooms I've been years ago. It was good

One of my favourite places in the old town of Jerusalem. Its amazing the peace and tranquility of this place versus the hustle and bustle of the streets just 2 floors below it. A number of Germanic dishes (i.e. schnitzel and apple strudel) but some others aswell. I can recommend the slushed ice coffee with cream on top, especially after a trek thought the town on a hot day. Perfect to refresh and recover.

Location tops it all. Located centrally in Jerusalem’s old town, the Austrian hospice is truly special. Looking back on a long history, the monumental building makes it feel like staying in a museum. Pros: +location +level of safety +in-house café +stunning rooftop +friendly and helpful staff Cons: -As a tourist attraction, many visitors come every day and can make the premise crowded

Wonderful piece of Austria in the middle of Jerusalem ! If you're visiting the magnificent old city of Jerusalem under the sun, you might need a break at some point, on a nice terrace, to drink a cold Viennese Coffee. Well, don't hesitate !

An oasis of calm for when you tire of the hustle and bustle. Lovely courtyard garden or sit inside the elegant dining room. Food choices limited but appropriately Austrian and sensibly priced. If the door is shut in the evening ring the bell. Then go up to the roof terrace for great views.

Beautiful building and garden. The barley and vegetable soup was tasty. Not kosher but veggie options available. 5 nis entrance to rooftop..amazing view (no restaurant on roof)

A cute place if you are willing to have a cup of coffee, a piece of cake and a bit of Europe in the middle of the old city of Jerusalem. It is hidden from the heat and the noise of the outside and provides you with an atmosphere of an Austrian interior of a couple of centuries back. Prices are a bit higher than everywhere, but mostly you pay for the atmosphere.

Beautiful and relaxed location in the middle of Jerusalem's old city. If we want to enjoy Austrian cake along one of the best coffees in town, then this is the place to go. I'd also recommend the Spätzle for those of you that have never tried it before.

I have been at the Austrian hospice repeatedly over the last couple of years - and it has always been a great pleasure. Their rooms (so far I have only stayed in the main building) still carry the Charme of the old world. The cafe and restaurant are great for Austrian cuisine (atypical for the region but great for comfort). The location is premiere, not only the rooftop with a beautiful view over the old city but also their garden, which is a great refuge from the busy streets below. All in all i can only recommend the Austrian hospice, for food, drinks, views and accommodations.

It's worth going there to see the view. The door to the roof (5 nis) can admit two people at once, if you are both of reasonable size. Coffee (Viennese melange) is overrated but still good and is better enjoyed outside in a sunny weather.

Stayed here for two nights. The location is outstanding for the old city. It is, however, a bit difficult if you have heavy bags or are with someone older or who has trouble walking. That’s how all of the old city is, though. The hotel itself is charming, but the rooms are in sore need of updating. Tile floors are chipped, shower is the smallest ever, no AC in the old room section, etc. Front desk staff was excellent, and the food in the cafe is good too. Breakfast included in the basement was a nice plus.

We’d heard about the Austrian Hospice through someone who lives in Jerusalem as a nice and quiet place in the heart of the Old City. As we walked through La Via Dolorosa we were pleased to find this beautiful and relaxing cafe. The Goulash soup was delicious and the outdoor sitting was perfect for a warm Spring day. I highly recommend it!

The location is a little confusing if you don’t know where you are going but it is a beautiful spot with idyllic surroundings. The food and drink is fine and the atmosphere is wonderful. If I had one large criticism it’s that there seems to be a large staff available but still they require the guests to line up to order. They should be using a waiter system which would make things far more pleasant.

This place is located quite inconspicuously and can be missed if you do not look specifically. The door may be closed, so use the bell. There are three in one. First, this is a hotel. I can’t say anything about it because I didn’t stop, although the building is historical and the interior is beautiful. Secondly, you can climb to the roof, which offers an interesting view of the old city. And thirdly, there is a cafe, a restaurant and a garden. It is pleasant to sit in the garden, this is a quiet corner of Europe. Coffee, tea, strudel, cake and schnitzel are very good. I have been here many times and always try to show this place to guests. Everyone is always happy.

A hidden gem in the old city, fantastic viewing platform, and probably the best Apple strudel in Israel.

Pearl of central Europe in old Jerusalem's Muslim quarter. Reliably good coffee and apple strudel. Must plan a stop here when visiting old city

The food at the cafe was lovely. The hospice in itself is a very pretty building. Taking off one star though because we paid 5nis per person to get to the roof that supposedly has a spectacular view but really it's a small terrace and the view is nice but not extra-ordinary. Also, you can't even sit on the roof and spend time there because there are no chairs. Felt like we got caught in a tourist trap.
