Symbol
of
Bengali
nationalism.
This
monument
was
built
to
commemorate
the
martyrs
of
the
historic
Language
movement
of
1952(only
and
one
languafe
movement
in
the
world's
history).
Hundreds
and
thousands
of
people
with
floral
wreaths
and
bouquet
gather
on
21
February
every
year
to
pay
respect
in
a
solemn
atmosphere.
Celebrations
begin
at
zero
hour
of
midnight.
Central
Shaheed
Minar
is
not
just
only
a
place
of
honour
but
also
a
place
of
symbolic
dignity
and
heroism.
This
place
represents
the
heroic
sacrifice
of
Bangali
youth
and
freedom
lover
people.
It
shows
us
the
sprit
of
Bangali
to
protest
the
oppressors
at
any
situation
when
needed.
It
represents
the
Bangali
braveness
Against
all
enemy
who
are
trying
to
capture
our
country
and
our
mother
language
Bangla.
Pakistani
brutal
army
and
government
tried
their
best
to
grabbed
our
language
and
imposed
Urdu
as
Bangladeshi
primary
language
but
here
people
didn’t
accept
the
proposal
and
fought
for
the
language.
This
Shaheed
Minar
expresses
all
the
memory
of
those
days
and
holds
our
glory
to
the
world.
