Symbol of Bengali nationalism. This monument was built to commemorate the martyrs of the historic Language movement of 1952(only and one languafe movement in the world's history). Hundreds and thousands of people with floral wreaths and bouquet gather on 21 February every year to pay respect in a solemn atmosphere. Celebrations begin at zero hour of midnight. Central Shaheed Minar is not just only a place of honour but also a place of symbolic dignity and heroism. This place represents the heroic sacrifice of Bangali youth and freedom lover people. It shows us the sprit of Bangali to protest the oppressors at any situation when needed. It represents the Bangali braveness Against all enemy who are trying to capture our country and our mother language Bangla. Pakistani brutal army and government tried their best to grabbed our language and imposed Urdu as Bangladeshi primary language but here people didn’t accept the proposal and fought for the language. This Shaheed Minar expresses all the memory of those days and holds our glory to the world.

The First Central Shaheed Minar ( Monument to tribute language Movement) of the town.. it is located in the main town just opposite side of the famous baby hospital Fatima Hospital.. It was inaugurated this 21st February 2018.. Now the people of the town can tribute the martyrs for the establishment of Bangla as Bangladeshi Mother Language.. well decorated.. well enough space..Lighted in the Night...No encroachment in the Night or day by vendors or street people..the authority take care of it...

Best place for passing time in Jashore. You can come here with friends, or with books to read, great place. But keep in mind, this place is not open for all time, it closes at almost 9.30pm. Sometime closes even before.

This is a good place to sit in the evening. It is quite well decorated and contains some fountains also. A chotpoti and fuchka vendor opens right beside it in the evening. Besides you can taste some other foods which you'll get along there. Couples and people of all ages can come and sit there and spend some time there for free. Closes by 9 or 9:30 PM

Nice place, A monument built to honor the lives of students martyred during the protests for usage of bangla as the principal language in Bangladesh (prior to independence from Pakistan) which ultimately culminated into the movement for independence from Pakistan. A place of both national and historical importance.
