Around 600 years old castle, carries age old memories of Saudi life. In 1930 the founding father of Saudi Arabia, HIs Highness King Saud has ordered for restoration to use it as a military base. The casle building materials teaches us how the old building have been built in the pre-concrete and steel era. Very beautiful place to visit. It is located on a hill top. So from there you can see the entire city view. The red sea from there looks so beautiful. Must visit with friends and family.

Unfortunately the castle itself is locked up and a lot of construction materials are lying around. I managed to push my mobile through the gap to get an interior pic. There’s no signposts in English or Arabic to say that the building is closed. The site itself is beautiful as you have views of Jazan and the ocean. The building is preserved but seems like over the years people have added graffiti in Arabic on the external walls which is a shame. I was surprised by the many phone masts which ruin the aesthetic of such a beautiful building. Gaining access to the site is very risky as there are live electrical wires and a lot of construction materials just lying around including rusty nails and steel rods sticking out from walls. I wouldn’t recommend going with children either as the external Walls surrounding the castle have child sized gaps which could be a potential health hazard! I hope the place is restored and lovingly cared for as it has so much potential and deserves to be maintained for future generations.

It is one of the best place to visit if you like to see the historic locations, the location roads are not paved and there is no guiding signs. Currently (Jul2020) the location is closed and under construction. And you are not allow to enter to the site. But the location is placed on a high mountain and you can see Gizan city panoramic view.

The Fort doors are locked. Can see from outside only. As it is on top of Mountain, complete Jazan city can be seen.

Quiet during the day, but for sure stunning city view at night while having a warm coffee from any coffee shop stalls around the area.

My only complaint is that the place is locked up.. I think they should let the public enter and explore the place. The scenery from up top is just beautiful especially the sunset.
