5* beauty 5* nature spot 5* hiking area 1* #noaccessibility Amazing dunes in between stunning green forest, wide river, civilization in form of picturesque village & endless horizon of the sea. There are small hiking trails to cross the dunes from one side to another. If not, people just come & sit on the top of the dunes, specially to enjoy the sunset. And it is a great spot for ground contrario practice for paragliders. The beach near the sea is about 1,5 km long. There is a wide and wild parking place. The last 500-700 meters from the village is a land road with small stones. Camping is forbidden, only visiting. Didn’t see any restrooms though. & #NoAccessibility options except parking lot neither.

Wide, rugged dunes. Just remember the sand gets hot during mid day and afternoon. It’s much easier to walk up to the dunes from the road through the town, than trying to climb the dunes. Great views along the coast and beach.

Really nice view, a bit crowded. I advise you to park the car a bit far away so u can escape the traffic when u go out.

The two of us visited the dunes on a sunset trip organised by Sailing restaurant in Gelemis (aka Patara) village. There were 8 of us in the minibus plus the driver/guide who’d picked up the rest of our party from Kalkan. Our knowledgeable guide showed us the view of the Lycian / Roman ruins of Patara from the top of the dunes and then led us to a better place to watch the sunset and helped us take photos. The cost TL### also included a beer or wine on the dunes. We all returned to Sailing restaurant for a meal (extra cost). The Kalkan guests were ferried back in the minibus after the meal. Our guide and the company of other English speaking travellers made it a fun trip. The minibus ride removed the long walk from Gelemis village to the dunes. Highly recommended trip as is Sailing restaurant - reviewed separately.

Beautiful dunes. It's easy to reach by car and you can start a walk in pina forrest. But be careful because sand would be really hot :) it's quite far from the beach.

Great sand dunes and a lovely sight of endless sandy beach. Do be aware there are no toilets or other facilities here.

This was such a magical place. Would only recommend to visit for the sunset though. Otherwise it would be very very hot! But the sunset was amazing the views were spectacular. No entrance fee. However parking is a nightmare! There’s no parking and everyone leaves their cars on the road leading there which creates absolute chaos when leaving!

One of the most amazing places to see in Turkey and this region. The road to here is just like any other beautiful place in Turkey a bumpy one but it is worth it. These sand dunes is what you do not expect in this area. This is a populair place among campers and camping holiday seekers, there isn't a restaurant or café as such but you also don't need the entire day here. If you are traveling through this is a beautiful detour.

One of the best sunset experience! Uninterrupted view over the dunes, beautiful beach and trees makes photos look like paintings. People who come here to picnic (no barbecues, due to hot weather fires might break) enjoy the sunset and take tonnes of photos:) You will be able to see local people who may be celebrating an engagement over the dunes or proposing😊 Easier to travel by car or a taxi thorough the village. Road is a bit rough at times, not suitable for sports car. For sand dunes, no need to get tickets. No cafe's or restaurants at sand dunes so bring your own. Weekends and public holidays gets super busy very difficult to park the car but if you visit during the weekdays , should be fine. Enjoy!
