Whilst the dorm is decent our stay there was horrible. Staff was not helpful when i asked for help on day 1. Every day the cigarette smoke from the bar downstairs just continously went through the building and persisted in the rooms. It was quite disgusting to sleep with a strong smell like that. I also woke up to cough which is obvious when breathing in that smoke every night. On one day the bar had their music insanely loud noone could sleep I was awake for more than 4 hours and it lasted the entire night. If i were to manage this hostel and bar (the owner is actually owning both) i would at least close the bar lets say at 1 am to let guests sleep . Prepare for a nightmare here.

A weird situation happened while we stayed here. We booked 2 beds in a 6 bed dorm. When we got there, we ended up in a 4 bed dorm but in a double bed that was in a seperate little room with its own door and a small kitchen (sink and fridge). We thought it was weird but a nice upgrade. The next day, the guy who runs/owns the hostel came in to clean the room and he told us we had to leave the door open for circulation. We had nowhere to lock our bags in the room we were given, so when we were asked where we could store our bags the guy basically just said there was nowhere to store them and that the kitchen was shared. The people in the bunks had lockers though. We were NEVER told this and would not have agreed to that room if it was stated initially. Thankfully nobody came into our room or used the little kitchen but it was just so strange. Great location but I wouldn't stay here again.

Edit: I typed this at 2am while I was being kept up by the noise so it might have been a bit harsh and impulsive, but it’s still something to consider if you’re a light/normal sleeper. The music from the bar was so loud I got NO SLEEP both (weekday) nights I stayed…and I had two sets of ear plugs. The rest was okay, beds comfy, and easy to walk most places in Kadiköy but not worth the sleepless nights.

Moda hostel is a cozy and really nice place. Also the staff are good and easygoing people. There is a bar downstairs which is very living place. You can hangout drink a beer downstairs. The cat 'çeto' is the boss. You can see that from his behave don't make him angry @Selontour

Moda Hostel is a lovely place to stay for a real feel of the Asian side of Istanbul. A much more relaxed atmosphere that feels miles away from the European tourist traps, but only just a quick ferry or metro ride away. I loved the beautiful light and spaciousness of my private room. The facilities were clean, the staff was very informative and welcoming, and the breakfast was a delicious and filling start to the day.

The stuff creates such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere that the place really feels like home. The private suite is just a perfect place if you’re traveling as a family, but the beds in the dorm room are super comfy too (I tried both). The hostel has a really nice bar with a beer garden downstairs which hosts stand up shows and is really busy during weekends. Loved the place, would be happy to come back one day. Thank you!

I stayed here in May of 2022. The hostel is top-notch. The staff was great, and my room had its own bathroom, kitchen, and balcony. The beds were comfortable, and the hostel was clean throughout. Highly recommended—I think Moda Hostel is the best value accommodation in the area!

Friendly and helpful staff, especially Rustam is very kind. Although rooms are a bit small for 6 beds, they are clean. The lockers under the bed are quite large (dont forget to bring your own tiny lock). There is a charging space for your phone and a lamp on the wall beside each bed. The location is near the metro and bus station, however it is a little crowded and noisy at evenings and there are numerous pubs near the hostel which makes it a bit hard to sleep at night.

The bartender at the bar below couldn’t stop scowling. Petty minds bring petty nonsense, this guy definitely was not built for the hospitality industry. A roommate who seemed to moreso live there rather than just be passing through was another scowler, totally unfriendly. There was absolutely no one to ask or provide any kind of useful information or advice about staying in Istanbul and Kadikoy. The one person I dealt with had a tenuous grasp of the English language. So communication was close to nil. Another guest I spoke to was also picking up the crumby vibes they were dropping. And beyond my scowling roommate, I had two other roommates who were pretty inconsiderate: both overnighters who were maybe just sleeping off their drunkenness from the bar below. No luggage. Awkwardly loud, awkwardly loud coughing and one of these mess’s alarm went off for an entire hour between 5 and 6 in the morning. An entire hour of some alarm playing some bad clubby music. Horrible. Lame. When you step into a hostel never expect to have the place to your own. It’s a social situation. There’s an etiquette to sharing a space with a total stranger. So, on my fifth day of stay, after having paid up front for eight days, I called it a loss and found another accommodation. I would advise to pay as you go.

This has been one of the best hostels I've stayed at hands down. Bed was super comfy with the curtains for privacy. Everything was clean and functioning. I asked to do laundry and not only did the nice fella from Kazakhstan load it all for me, this guy went out of his way to even bring it back upstairs for me. "Gentlemen and a scholar" I came back for a second night I was so comfortable with my stay. Thank you Moda hostel 👌👊😎

First of all, the staff is very friendly. They always search with you for solutions if something’s happening, you have questions or if you have any other problem. The room was perfect. It had it’s own bathroom and small kitchen with fridge. The beds were very comfortable and you had enough privacy with the curtains. Also, the hostel had it’s own pub and they held stand up shows (both in English and Turkish) in the garden. The location is perfect if you want to stay in the center of Kadıköy.

Great location. Everything is walking distance. Theres a bar down where you get a 10 percent discount if guests of Moda Hostel. David and Rustom are very helpful with information. We stayed in a room that had 4 dorm beds and 1 double bedroom inside. But we had it all to our selves thus gave us a huge space to pack unpack. The toilet hair dryer didnt work. Theres no toiletries. The dispensers need to be refilled. Clean rooms. You have an option to keep the doors on the double bedroom open for air circulation. Plug points all over the room. I would surely come back to stay here because of the location and the kind help of Rustom and David with regards to helping take our bags up to the first floor.

This hostel is an odd work in progress. While I was there the ac wasn't working in the entire hostel. Also they had private rooms that had entrances that were part of a dorm room which is okay, but those private rooms had windows facing the dorm with no curtains which is weird. That being said the beds were really comfy had had lockers to charge your phone and really good internet. Staff werent very helpful.
