Great Chinese food in the heart if Karachi. However, not very comfortable seating

Visited this Chinese restaurant on Sunday for dinner and I was amazed by the ambience and the service level. Located beside the pool side this restaurant depicts the Chinese culture as soon as you enter the place, the lighting arrangements, cutlery all will give you the feel as you are in china. Food quality is exceptional and quantity is enough for single person. Prices are on a very higher side but it will be under budget if you have BOGO, or another app with offers. It's a must try place atleast once.

The Chinese-looking lady manager at Lotus Court has a history of misbehaviour with customers. Two friends had told me earlier about her and finally I too witnessed it today. Such short-tempered and ill-mannered people should not be working in anything related to customer service, let alone hospitality. Food was okayish (max 7 out of 10). Nothing was bad and nothing was outsdanding. There definitely are better Chinese restaurants than Lotus Court out there. Even if I'm staying at MovenPick, I'd rather drive for 2-3 minutes and go to Dynasty for better Chinese food.

Nice but highly expensive place for real Chinese cuisine. Very very good restaurant with respect to ambiance and decor. Taste is also good but can be improved. I am going there since 2004 and found it always same good quality. Strongly recommended for the city residents specially strongly recommended for those who are travelling from other cities. Happy eating and best of luck. It's slightly different from routine taste restaurant of the city and you may not find it ideal but anyhow you should at least give it a try and you'll find good it in both in ambiance and food taste and quality.

We thought of going to Movenpick for dinner and decided to try out Lotus Court. Upon walking up to it, we were refused seating based on not having an advance reservation. The entire restaurant was empty and yet they said that we could not dine there as we had no reservation. My cousin called on their landline no and made the reservation at that very moment from the parking of movenpick and voila; we could now dine there. The staff was rigid, rude and unprofessional. They were not helpful when we asked questions abt the dishes nor were they helpful in helping us decide the volume of the order. Our order included lotus special soup, chicken wonton soup, fried fish, fried prawns, schezuan chicken, stir fried prawns in garlic sauce, braised baby Chinese cabbage with chicken, sweet n sour chicken, chicken in oyster sauce and egg fried rice. The only dishes which we found good were schezuan chicken and lotus special soup. The remaining dishes were below par and a total waste of time and money. It was a bad experience altogether. Will definitely not be visiting again nor will I recommend it to anyone.

So we made a booking to celebrate my father in laws birthday with a family dinner. I'll mention issues in bullet points below. 1. One set of serving of sauces/chillies on a table of 8 persons. After asking 2 or 3 times, they gave us another set and bu then we had all finished crackers and soup. 2. Tempura prawns: i was shocked to see how they looked, and horrified when I tasted them. The batter was not only tasteless but also seemed like made by a 12 year old kid who tried to make tempura prawns for the first time. Beyond imagination. 3. Drinks: had to ask for our drinks again and again and we got them when most of us were almost done with the food. 4. Service: overall service was super super slow. Had to stand up and look around for a server. 5. Payment: so we knew that 20% discount was available on our platinum credit card but we didn't get any discount because they had no yet received updated discounts list or whatever they called. It cost us 22,000 for way way below average food and service. Never going there again, never recommending it to anyone again.

Dine in hotel based restaurants is always risky for me cause many of them were disasters but Alhumdulilah Lotus Court made my anniversary night wonderful by serving amazingly delicious food, service and ambiance. 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗹𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗻𝘀 (1,575pkr): What I expected was cut opened grilled prawns but those were fried. Fried part was done with perfection and served in less than 10mins. I would say that the batter they used to marinate the prawns were very common, many other restaurants have the same taste in it but the sauce was flavorsome. Sauce has the creamy & salty lemonish taste ofcourse with the addition of mayonnaise (not the typical one in taste). 𝗦𝘇𝗲𝗰𝗵𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗬𝘅𝗶 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻 (1,155pkr) Very different from what other restaurants serve, taste was chilliest sweet. Many of you are familiar with this szechwan but the spices used in this dish were very different from others. May be they were following the authentic pattern of Chinese cuisine originating from Sichuan Province. 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗳 (1,465pkr) This was the dish made my day, my personal favorite among the others. Beef was tenderly soft and sauce which was used in this dish was very similar to teriyaki sauce but was little sweet in taste. "A MUST TRY DISH" 𝗘𝗴𝗴 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗲 (555pkr) The quality of cooked rice is the first impression of every rice based dish, and lotus won my heart by making fried egg with perfectly cooked rice. The quality of rice was complimenting the over all taste of the fried rice. 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝗲𝗶𝗻 (425pkr) Good quality of soba noodles was used in this dish with the ample quantity of veges and chicken, nothing was overpowering the over all taste. It wasn't salty nor sticky, the overall taste was so balanced that I can say this was the best chow mein that I ever had in Pakistan. Bill amount: 6886.22 including 13% gst

For a five star restaurant, the food and service was mediocre. We have been fine dining at various restaurants in Karachi and for Chinese cuisine, Dynasty has been our go to place because of outstanding food and service. Lotus has been a disappointment. The food was very very out of the Chinese palate. Flavours were confusing. Most of the chicken had the particular smell which most chefs treat them with vinegar in order to get rid of the smell. To make matters worse, while eating, we hear people from the kitchen shouting out “yay soup kis ka heh!”. The ambience just went out of the window. We had to remind the waiter to bring the soft drinks and they arrived right at the end. We are not coming here again. As I asked the waiter to pack away the rice, he tried convincing me that “sir, sirf do chaar spoon heh, pack phir bhee pack kardoon?” The takeaway box looked like some street vendor’s take out food box. More detail has to be put by management into the restaurant. You just cannot ride on the Movenpick high horse all the time.

We booked dinner for my dad's birthday and the team at Lotus Court was phenominal. They went above and beyond to allow balloons, arrange a TV screen for a video we made for him. Their room is perfect for a private event. We ordered an array of dishes and the stand out was the Mala Beef. Definately miles better than Dynasty or other traditional family options. Also the chicken corn soup is the best in town. Abid the manager was very accomodative and the service was impeccable. Thanks guys
