I've stayed at Shambling twice now & it's a beautiful, peaceful oasis away from the noise & chaos but easy walking distance to explore Bouddhanath Stupa & surrounding Tibetan area. The staff are very warm, caring & attentive so I always felt well looked after. We'll definitely be back. The rooms have a serene minimalist feeling as well as being spotlessly clean. And the chef was lovely & accommodated our preference for local food by preparing Indian and Nepali breakfasts that were some of the most delicious food we experienced on our stay. Great coffee too!

Dear Shambaling crew! In October 2023 I led a trip to Nepal and Bhutan with 5 friends. We stayed at Hotel Shambaling for a few days before our trip to Bhutan and after our trip! I have been to this hotel many times. Perfectly located near the Stupa Boudha, Hotel Shambaling is an oasis of peace! The employees are very friendly and fulfill every wish. The food is excellent, as is the ambience! I can highly recommend this hotel! With warm Love Esther from Switzerland

We had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel for few nights and we were very impressed…the room was clean and spacious, decor was subtle yet refined, and the location was very close to boudha stupa. We were mostly impressed by the people who work there. Always greeting with kind gesture..I would definitely stay here again without thinking twice if I ever visit Nepal again…

It was my second time to stay here - the first one was in 2017. They did not disappoint my decision to stay here again because I really loved my stay here last time. Excellent location if you are looking for something far from hustle and bustle of Thamel. It’s walking distance to the peaceful Boudhanath Stupa which is what attracted me to this place. Staff are all very kind, friendly and accommodating with various requests to the best of their ability. Rooms are beautifully furnished, clean and spacious. Bathrooms have bidets and strong water pressure. Breakfast buffet is western though instead of local cuisine - I would have preferred to have some local options as well. They also have a newly opened spa facility. Just 20-30 min away from the airport.

Excellent hotel. Rooms met our expectations. Breakfast and dinner was good, and the staff was the most service-oriented we encountered while in Nepal. Will definitely come back. The only negative is the location, as Boudha is more dusty than many other places in Kathmandu.

Since my first stay at Shambaling in 2015 I‘ve come back several times for a simple reason: service, location and value for money. The Shambaling team always strives for impeccable services and tte location permits to calm down and relax. I will definitely come back.

Lucked put and got a blessing while we were here. Some suites are renovated, other rooms are more basic but clean. Would be nice if the hair dryer had more than a 2 foot cord. Laundry service is very expensive. Breakfast is good.

"I had the pleasure of staying at Shambling Boutique hotel during my recent trip to the area, and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed with the level of service and comfort provided. From the moment I checked in, the staff went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was as comfortable as possible. The room was immaculate, with all the amenities I needed for a pleasant stay, and the bed was incredibly comfortable.

From the moment we arrived at reception, we were made to feel totally at ease and at home. Our superior room overlooked the Arno and a church bell tower, what more could we want. The staff here are wonderful.

The above-average hotel I recently stayed at was a pleasant surprise. The location was convenient, with easy access to major attractions and transportation. The rooms were spacious, well-appointed, and provided all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The staff was friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist with any inquiries or requests. The hotel also boasted a variety of facilities, including a fitness center and a swimming pool, which added to the overall experience. The cleanliness and maintenance of the property were commendable, creating a pleasant and inviting atmosphere. While the price was slightly higher than average, the quality of service and facilities made it well worth the investment. Overall, it was a delightful stay, and I would gladly recommend this above-average hotel to fellow travelers.

Pros: Very clean. Functioning Wifi. Consistent hot water. Decent AC. Exceptionally helpful staff. Very close to the Stupa - only a 5-10 minute walk. Cons: Visited in August, and the road to get there was pretty rutted and muddy courtesy of the monsoon rains, but we were told that the government is meant to be sealing the roads within the next year. Food was ok - not great, but not terrible. Also charge $15 (plus 10% Service charge and 13% tax) for an airport transfer, when taxi's cost less than a third of that. Overall: Welcome respite from the craziness of Kathmandu.

Rooms are quite big and comfortable, but the service needs some improvement. For example, Kathmandu is experiencing power shortage according to hotel personnel, power interruption occurs several times in a day. Our room's air condition was damage. Hotel refuses to change room even our air condition is not working. We have experience sleeping with blinds and windows open for one night. So we have to go through a long unpleasant argument and negotiation, then finally they give us a new room. Other than the mentioned problem, everything is still okay.
