An absolute must see for anyone interested in natural phenomena. The hike is 800 meters up very steep stairs. It is definitely worth the effort once you get there. In the early evening you can see the best show of these natural fires and still make it back down. Bring a flashlight or have your phone flashlight handy if it gets too dark. This is a truly magical place, with unknown origin.

Nice place to visit especially in the evening it's dark and the fires are very visible. Take a flashlight as it gets very dark and the path can be tricky. The cost to enter is 12 lira and there is parking at the entrance. There are toilets. The walkway is step and a good 20 minute hike uphill, quite steep. 3btraveller

What an incredible place. Drive to the little village of Cirali and follow the indications Yanartas. You have to purchase the ticket to entry (16 TL). The fires are far from the car park about 1 km (10-15 mins. walk).

An easy hike to see the fire. About 1km and the trail is clearly marked. Cost was about 15Tl and parking was available and free. I read after that its estimated the flames have been burning for at least 2,500 years. A great stop and such an amazing place to see!

Great history. About a 1km hike up and then that's it. Not tour guide description at all. You're left to your own. I suggest researching this place before hand. Amazing to see the flames and understanding how this is an attraction. Take some sausages and marshmallows for quick roast snacks.

Amazing natural wonder and excellent history. You need good stability for this hike. The hike is a bit long for an amateur and every step is on uneven stones and ground. Strong knees and ankles are a must. The flaming mountain portion is all a steep hillside. Bring toilet tissue. There are bathrooms at the entry but they are sparse. I think entry was 30 TL.

We weren’t sure if we wanted to do this hike, but are so glad we did! It is an uphill, 20-30 minute hike for us and was relatively easy. The flames were so neat! We went at dusk, but with a flashlight it was an easy climb down. Small entry fee, but it was worth it and a fun, unique experience.

Easy hike up and definitely worth it. Fire coming from the rocks is a site to see!! Very quick hike maybe 10-15 mins. Just be careful on your way down.

The 1000m climb is worth the effort to see the sulfer fires and ruins, and to have a chill before the climb back down.lots of rocks and uneven ground. sensible foot wear is advised

It’s a very nice place where you will walk for 1k km to reach the top of the mountain to see the incredible place where the fire 🔥 get out from the hill, according to the history it’s since 2500y ago which will never turned off. Nice place to visit, it rained while we there, rain coat is enough. Non slippery shoe is recommended.

Great place to visit especially in the evening when it's dark as the fires show up so well. Take a torch and some marshmallows. It costs just 12 lira and there is parking at the entrance. There are toilets by the car park. The path is quite steep, I think about 750 metres uphill. There are about 15 various fires at the top all burning from natural gas escaping between the rocks, its amazing to think theses fires have been burning for thousands of years. Well worth a visit.

I visit in the beginning of the evening. There is a 1km hike from the parking to the place with the flames itself. The tickets are around 50 turkish lira. The place and the geological event are incredible to see. However, there is so much trash around that is sad to see. There were signs saying you are not allowed to grill anything, but you will see people grilling anyways and the place even sell marshmallows.

If you like open flames or rocks or, open flames on rocks it's a must see. You have to hike about 1km up the trail on somewhat slippery rocks. Make sure to bring your own water. Try to visit just as the sun sets for stunning photos.

It is best to start climbing the mountain before sunset, you will have to walk 1 km. The road is difficult, so stock up on flashlights. At the top of the mountain, there is a stunning view of many lights. The sight is extraordinary, even mystical. we took sausages with us, fried them on the fire, it turned out divinely delicious!

One of the places that i really wanted to visit at Olympos! I felt something is unique, so i walk from Olympos to Yanatas through Cirali Beach. All the way i enjoy the walk and looking at beautiful beach. People at the entrance are so nice, offer you Cay. There is guide take me up there and also to another side looking for beautiful view. All the way up around 1km, there is stone pathway, make sure we have good shoe and bring water with you. Yes some people bring sausage and marshmallow up for bbq. 😩 Is worth to visit! Short Brief - Yanartas (Chimaera), known as the place of flames, is a fascinating natural rock formation located alongside Cirali village, on the Mount Chimaera slopes, close to Olympos Valley. Yanartas is known as eternal fire and the flames look like they burn on the rocks without any apparent fuel or heat source.

Overrated natural gas mountain that always stays lit (on fire). The climb is quiet long, 2km and has very steep and large steps so bring a water bottle and maybe even some steak to cook on the fires! Very cool for photo ops and chilling but overrated IMO.

If you want to see natural fire coming out from under the ground then that's the place. Beautiful views, a bit of exercise - what's not to like. It will only take about 30 minutes to get to the place from the car par. Car parking is free. To get to the mountain is 50TL. Great experience.

Totally recommend to go at night. The walk is easy it will take around 20 min to get up. They are several fires and you can see a beautiful sky on a clear night.

Nothing to compare to. Better to see after dusk, but get yourself a flashlight - the stairs on the way are very rocky. Also think about hiking / enduring shoes. Avoid this site if you have any walking or back issue

I have never been to one of these places where the methane gas coming from the ground is on fire. It is a considerable hike up the hill, but worth it all the way

Very interesting place but lots of tourists here and also you have to count with that you will climb quite steep path about 1 km up and then 1 km down. Not very good for someone with bad knees.

A lot more impressive than I expected. We hiked at dusk over the hill from Zumrut hotel (a very bad path), saw the flames from above, came down to the flames after sunset (there's lots of them) and continued down to the village with flashlights following those million stairs leading to the ticket office.

Let's be honest and fair. The place is nice, but the process and service are terrible. They don't accept card payments, even though it's stated online. Surprisingly, they charge for using the WC, despite already buying tickets. The journey to the mountains is rough and rocky, probably designed to provide a hiking experience. It's not recommended unless you're already in the area and prepared for a tiring and exhausting experience.

Quite a steep 1km walk up the mountain, but oh so worth it. Being good shoes and a torch or cell phone flash of you visit at night, which many do, as it is safe, but very dark.

We drove to the car park of Mount Chimaera, we paid 12L each as an entrance fee. From there it was a 1km climb up (steep) about 10 minutes walking over rocks. Once up at the top, it was nice to see the fires. There were that many. Definitely will need your phone flash light on if your going in the dark.

Fantastic natural phenomenon. Go before dark and wait till it's fully dark for the best viewing. It's hard to believe this is natural and has been burning for literally thousands of years. Must see. Take a flashlight for the trail back, it's a bit treacherous.

The Chimera (Yanartaş), the eternal flames on a rocky mountainside above Çıralı village near Olympos, is a fascinating natural phenomenon: about a dozen flames issue from a mass of rock with no apparent fuel to sustain them. Some ancient sources considered it to be the origin of the myth of the monster called the Chimera, because of similarities described below. Being around 250 metres above sea level sailors used them as beacons to navigate their ships.

This place was amazing! Be sure to pack yourselves some marshmallows and sticks! We hiked up to the top flames and had it almost to ourselves. Our boys are 7 & 10 and it was an easy hike for them. We arrived at 5 pm and were able to be at the top for sunset at 5:40 without staining ourselves. Not too often can you find a hike that includes ancient ruins, mythology, sunset and Vistas, enough incline to get your blood pumping, and fire and sweets as a prize at the end! This might be our favorite hike ever!

Good place to hike, we had doggy follow us up to the mountain and stayed with us on the top while we made marshmallows on the fire. Doggy also accompanied us back to base level: doggy made our night hike very fun. Take a head lamp if going for night hike and some areas rocks are shaky

This place is very spectacular, if you can walk a thousand meters uphill, don't miss the encounter with the beautiful fires in the heart of the mountain, and I suggest you go to this place between sunset and sunrise and when the weather is not too hot.
