Positive: + Great Location + Very special vibe + You can learn about Massai culture from the Massai that work there + Super nice and helpful hosts + Amazing cleaning service - bed was beautifully prepared every evening / everything very clean Room for improvement: - Shower has only cold water. Something I did not experience before in a hotel - The best thing about the breakfast were the crepes. The selection was quite limited and not always was everything fresh - WiFi only available at reception

CocoReef Ecolodge is the best place we had in Zanzibar. Why ? First because CocoReef Team is amazing. The team is composed with massai and local people, all so lovely. We spend really good time with Zakario, a massai, we shared our culture, we learned so much from him. He is the favourite person we met during our trip in Tanzania. He even accompagn us to a local festival, it was so cool. Second because the place is so nice. Really cool, spacious, clean and peacefull bungalows with a seaview. Some bushbabies were occuping the place and if you are lucky you can spot them during the night. Thirdly because the food was incredible. They served us the best breakfasts we had in Tanzania ! Lunch and dinner were also delicious ! My girlfriend and I agreed that it was the best food we had. We slept in many places in Zanzibar but our favourite place remains that one ! I really recommand it ! Moreover, it's the cheapest place we had but the best one ! Such a great deal. Thanks again David, Sandrine, Zakario, Amis, Maiko, Atibo, Tatou.. and the rest of the team ! Love u guys

I was in Zanzibar for a couple weeks and I stayed all around the island and I can honestly say that Coco Reef was the best place I stayed on the island. Especially considering the hospitality! I stayed in one of the gorgeous elevated bungalows, it had a full private bath, and a large comfortable bed with the standard African mosquito net that somehow looks romantic in these cute thatched roof quarters and there was even a private balcony overlooking the gardens or the beach depending on which bungalow you are in as well. They serve a hot complimentary breakfast, and sell beer and the other usual needs and they will even send an employee to the store in town if you have a special request. Everything is located directly on a swim able beach where the lodge has lounges and a beach bar too. The owners are great people who also know a great captain, so if you want to swim with a pod of wild dolphins, or go snorkeling they can hook it all up for a reasonable price, and the sunset dinner Captain Alli prepared for us out on a sandbar in the ocean was delicious, and about the most romantic thing I have ever done! I will make a point of staying here again next time I'm in Zanzibar!

Best holiday spot ever!! Very close to the beach, amazing food (mix of French and Swahili cuisine) and extremely friendly staff. Cold and slightly salty water in the sink was not an issue for us but it's something to be aware of. It's a really cool, quiet place with wonderful people

The feeling we had here was unique, if you are someone searching for a more natural, close to nature experience this is the place for you. We enjoyed it and we recommend it for an escape from reality!

Kizimkazi has a different vibe and Coco Reef a unique atmosphere. I would always return to a place like that. Sandrine, David, Amis and Zachario and all the team made me feel very special. I recommend this place for travelers in search of a genuine experience and great care.

A lovely stay in wonderfully built Makuti bungalows on stilts. David the owner is great and informative. We really enjoyed breakfast at the open air kitchen which was made by the local chef. The chapatis and pancakes were delicious! A very peaceful place! We will definitely return.

👍👍 Mama Root was by far one of the best places I've stayed at in a long time (and I've traveled a lot)! To begin with, I loved the calm of the hotel and the entire fisher village of Kizimkazi. So if your objective is to avoid busyness, noise and tourist masses, Mama Root is your place to go! The beach...
