What a wonderful place! We spent 2.5 weeks in The Lamai and were everyday happy to be there. The staff is very friendly and professional thus making our stay absolutely perfect. The cocktails on the pier, the great breakfast with plenty of choice, the beautiful rooms with ‘old’ style decoration and the shared pools are top. We were disappointed from Samui but our stay in The Lamai compensated it largely.

Loved my stay at the Lamai. It’s gorgeous located near by a small town and has nice little family run restaurant next to it. The staff in the hotel were so kind and helpful. We loved our experience here. Only concern is the mosquitoes issue which is something we faced in our washroom as well because it’s an open shower style and washroom. Apart from that we have no concerns here and absolutely enjoyed our stay. The breakfast is delicious as well and they have a lovely view of the pool and beach near the breakfast buffet.

We have booked one week in a studio attached to the pool. The studio is divided in two rooms one an AC living and sleeping room and a non-AC bathroom with shower, tub and toilet as well as the cabinet for clothes. Outside, the terrace is attached to the pool and equipped with a padded wooden bench and a table. The resort is directly attached to the beach with a nice view to the sunrise side. The resort is very clean and the service personnel are doing their utmost for serving you in all aspects. The breakfast buffet is with a good variety and if something is missing the service will take care. The dinner in the evening on the 1st floor with ocean view was very good and at all in a relaxing atmosphere.

We stayed here for four nights, in one of the «plunge pool» rooms. The room was very nice, well kept and beautifully furnished. Good air conditioning. The plunge pool, shower and toilet are all outdoors (under roof, except the pool, and secluded), which in my opinion just added to the experience. At this price, the minibar (excluding alcohol) should have been complimentary, but I consider that just a minor thing. The staff is very friendly, and special thanks to the receptionist Em, who was there more or less all the time every day. He was very helpfull with booking taxis, scooters etc., and even stopped us for a friendly chat one evening. The breakfast buffet is very good, although with somewhat limited options. We had dinner at the hotel one evening (at the restaurant, not room service) and the food was very good, but a bit pricy. If you are looking for the calm spa resort experience, this is a 10/10 option. If you want to live more central, or would like a good beach by the hotel, this might not be the best option for you, but if you rent a scooter you can easily reach both more central areas and good beaches in a short time. I would definitely recommend this hotel/resort to others, and would love to stay there again if I visit Samui again.

I stayed here in July 2022 so it was a little quiet here because of the pandemic and travel restrictions. However, I enjoyed that the hotel had less guests and the area was more peaceful as a result. The grounds of the hotel are larger than you first think, and everywhere is manicured with nice lawns and trees/plants all along the pathways. We stayed in their villa with a private pool and it was definitely worth the price. There was lots of space and the bathroom was huge! The bed was also large and comfortable with a whole range of different pillow types to use. There is also a seperate lounge area with an additional TV which we didn't use but would be a nice space for families. The best part of the villa was the outdoor space. There was a large round stone bathtub and plenty of areas for lounging around, either in the sun or in shade in your own little hut type area. The pool was a little small but large enough for a couple of people. We loved the grass too.

3.5 STARS We stayed in one of the private pool villas which was lovely. The room was great, although the bathroom is outdoors. It’s a beautiful room and outdoor space. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Especially the spa staff! (Treatments were great too, we had a coffee scrub, deep massage, & facial.) That being said, the food is HORRENDOUS. I mean, really really horrible. The breakfast was fine. Nothing special but edible. The rest was absolutely terrible. We attempted lunch on property one day and sent it back immediately, which we NEVER do. (see attached photo of what they served as a ‘grilled chicken sandwich’…) Many people complained about the food, we overheard lots of people sending their food back / discussing how terrible it was. Needless to say, we ate every meal off property after that. Although, the day we checked out we had extra resort credit to use (we stayed 1 less day than booked so they gave us that night’s fees in resort credit) so we attempted lunch again… same thing. The chicken burgers were horrible. The chicken pad Thai tasted like VERY fishy fish (coming from someone who loves seafood) so we again, sent it back. Wouldn’t stay again given the food. Yes, it was that bad. Chef should move to a 3-star property and they need to hire a new kitchen staff.

This hotel is fine, but not 5 star. The pictures of the rooms online are quite deceiving- they do not look like this in real life. The shower and toilet is outside which means it is not air conditioned and gets very hot , also lets in lots of mosquitos. The pool is nice but was not particularly clean, also weirdly the ‘infinity’ view to the sea is blocked by a hedge. There is no do not disturb sign for the rooms. Breakfast was nice, bed was comfy. Staff here are great. We got charged for drinking water from the fridge which was annoying as water outside the fridge was complimentary and this was not clear (£1.50 per small bottle!). The wifi is very slow and disconnects a lot. We had an alright stay here but honestly having been to many hotels in Thailand for the price you’re better off staying somewhere else / going to a cheaper hotel which has the exact same facilities.

I can’t remember the last time I stayed somewhere so beautiful, AND had such excellent, efficient, genuine and capable. All reception, reservation, restaurant, housekeeping and spa staff were excellent, with zero exception. Special shout-out to the reception, and restaurant staff. There was literally no ask that was too big, or too small. The team took care of everything including helping us with all COVID rule deciphering, both for getting here as well as our onward journey testing, booking a thousand taxis and restaurants, giving us local information and understanding exactly what we needed. My 10yo son made a comment that he loves it here because everyone knows his name. A small thing, which made a huge difference to a little one who hasn’t been outside of his country and familiar culture for a quarter of his life now. And the adults were very grateful for the care. Thank you so much team The Lamai Samui, we will be back, next time with our extended family. You really touched us. One (minor) recommendation which I have : The recommended snorkeling tour by the hotel had received a pretty poor review. I suggested to the front office staff, and I’m sure they listened, that they update their list of recommendations- we ended up doing an excellent tour with 100 Degrees East, which like The Lamai Samui, bypasses all expectations.

I'm a bit late in leaving my review, we stayed here in August around the time of my partners birthday. We had an amazing stay, we were greeted by Em and Am. Em showed us around the hotel and its facilities, he was so lovely to deal with, nothing was too much trouble for him. The staff in general were amazing. We had a beautiful room with a plunge pool, which we used often. Overall a great experience.

This hotel is a little piece of Heaven!! From the minute we arrived, nothing was too much trouble. The room and all common areas are spotlessly clean, the staff are the most beautiful and welcoming people I have come across. The location is beautiful and the food is amazing. It was my birthday whilst here and it was made really special by the effort put in by all staff. Thank you, you wonderful people we will definitely be back!!

Amazing staff (helpful, attentive and willing to go the extra for the customers). Em on the front desk was amazing and helpful. Tree at the pool was super attentive and accommodating. Dream (spelling?) At breakfast was super friendly. The doors are the right balance of indoor / outdoor with room to move. Small gym but good for a morning session. The hitel is at the quite end of the beach so you can get away from the crowds but you can walk over if you want to enjoy the atmosphere! Food is amazing... and the team ate happy to adjust when required. Thanks to all... an amazing, relaxing and memorable stay

I only have kind words to say about the Lamai Samui. Nothing is too much trouble. The place is very clean, the food is good. I must thank all the wonderful staff, but the staff member " Tree" was exceptional. Thank you for a lovely stay.. May be back next year..

The rooms are very beautiful and cozy for stay. The pool access rooms are wonderful. The food is okayish. Location is towards more peaceful side of Samui. Next to crystal / silver beach. Can go there to relax in pristine waters. Away from busy and happening chaweng area. Overall very good place to stay.

Stayed here for honeymoon and it was an excellent experience. My wife and I had an amazing time and would 100% recommend to anybody going to Samui. The staff there is the best hotel staff I have ever come across, they went above and beyond to ensure we never had any trouble.

We had a wonderful time in The Lamai Samui. The hotel was amazing. We had a beautiful villa with a pool access. I would like to say a big „thank you” to the staff, which was absolutely gorgeous and professional. You made our stay special and comfortable. Thank you!

A wonderful hotel. The team at The Lamai went out of their way to make sure the stay felt special. Beautiful hotel, amazing grounds, clean spacious rooms and stunning beach. 100% would stay again

In and of itself, it's a really nice place to spend your holiday. We had an ocean view pool villa which was wonderful. However, the hotel is showing its age. With the high prices, the expectations are high, but they are disappointed, for example at breakfast. Also the evening "turn down" service does not take place. Otherwise, it is very well maintained and the staff is very friendly.

Amazing is an understatement. We loved the staff, service, food. Very proactive in managing stuff for guests. Very friendly and smiling. They were ready with umbrellas when they saw us coming back in rain. They even organised pick up on a very short notice. Rooms and hotel are beautiful and very comfortable, clean. Would love to go back in future. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful.

Stayed here in February 2023 and it was really very lovely. Where to begin? The front of house, restaurant, room service, estate, bell hop, driver - all staff were friendly, attentive and just delightful. I arrived on my birthday but although I hadn’t told them, I found a very sweet ‘Happy Birthday’ gesture on our bed the next day. They would’ve known from my passport details. Our room had a couple of teething issues such as the air con leaking and missing a hook in the bathroom but no bother for the staff, they fixed it immediately. Extra hangers and cushions requested (if they had spare) and they were provided. Even a lovely glass of flowers in the bathroom after I’d kept those from my birthday wishes, had died and then replaced with fresh. Our room was great, a swim up pool room and very private and with a lovely deck to lounge in. The room was huge, well maintained and the outdoor bathroom may not be to everyone’s taste but we loved it. Worth spending the extra money to get one of these rooms. The entire resort is beautiful with lush, green gardens and the sound of birdsong. The view out to the sea is stunning. Breakfast was great, loads of choice, an egg station, great coffee and lots of juices, fruit and bread/pastry options. We ate dinner and lunch here too, all great. Room service is speedy and efficient. All requests done via WhatsApp making the comms so easy. I had a massage here too, requested via WhatsApp at the lovely spa; a great experience with lots of choice. I guess the only thing to note that is it is between the two main towns of Chaweng and Lamai so if you’re seeking somewhere lively, this isn’t the place for you. However the location was good for us with some restaurants, a small supermarket and massage places close by. If I had to choose location between here and the Silavadee or the Banyan Tree then this is definitely more convenient (the others being up a very steep hill, that we took to have a nose around the vicinity). Hope this review helps, I could probably have written more! Really recommend this place and would definitely stay again.

The Lamai is ocean front and it's a wonderful location. Staff are friendly and accommodating. It is maintained ... But shows some age. Service is excellent. Front desk was very accommodating with our early arrival and late departure. I'd say that was extremely helpful. All the taxi drivers and moped drivers know the place.

Amazing luxury stay Liked · We came to this hotel at short notice having arrived at a different resort and it being uninhabitable. We're so glad we did... The staff are exceptional, so friendly and welcoming. The pool was amazing with great sunbeds, shady spots for getting out of the sun if need be, and was super clean. The restuarant was great, really good breakfast and top notch dinners. Room service food was spot on too. The room was amazing, being able to walk straight out into what felt like a private pool was great. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was huge with a great shower and bath. In general, this hotel has a great feel to it, a nice atmosphere and was a perfect end our 3 week trip. Disliked · This is a premium hotel, so expect to pay premium prices. The laundry service in particular was extortionate, charging per item! We just went to the tiny laundrette nextdoor instead. Mosquitos! Loads of them around, espeically during 'golden hour'. But staff do their best to remedy this, providing free repellent lotion and lighting citronella burners every evening on the decking outside the room.

Luxurious, interestingly designed resort. We stayed in a plunge room which initially seemed great until we had nearly 48 hrs of continuous noisy rain. The staff were excellent, all well-trained and friendly. The pool area was very pleasant but we were surprised the sun bed mattresses were left out in the torrential rain, they must take a long time to dry out. Breakfast was excellent, part buffet, part A la Carte. Quality of food was good with a wide selection. The toaster toasted the bread in one go which is unusual in hotels. Lovely views from the upper dining area.

I had a fantastic experience staying at this hotel with my family for five nights at the end of January and beginning of February. The standout feature of this hotel is its staff, who go above and beyond to make your stay special. Many of them even remember your name, which is a lovely touch. A special thanks to Tree, Tam, Lop, and all the other amazing and friendly staff members. The reception area is lovely and perfect for meet and greets during hotel check-in. The rooms are very well appointed and have fantastic baths and outdoor showers :) Although our room didn't have great views, we still enjoyed the peace and quiet on our patio. We had a lovely breakfast every morning and occasionally had lunch, which was very tasty and reasonably priced. The hotel facilities, including the gym, are all very nice. The hotel's location is perfect as it's tucked away from the main road, so it's very quiet. It's also just a short walk to all the action in Lamai beach, where there are plenty of bars, restaurants, and other places to eat. I highly recommend seeing the fire-show at The Door restaurant. Otherwise, it's easy enough to get to Chaweng beach as well. The hotel is getting a bit old and will need some attention soon. Apparently, this property was formerly a Le Meridian by Marriot. We stayed at Le Meridian in Bangkok, which was definitely more modern, but overall, everything was good, and I would definitely visit again :)

We recently stayed for our honeymoon. We were not expecting to love this place as much as we did and wish we had booked a longer stay when we left. The staff were incredible, so friendly, polite, welcoming and accommodating. The pool area is so well maintained and relaxing. The room was lovely, bed was very comfortable. Highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful hotel - but what makes this stay extra wonderful is the staff and their authentic friendly demeanour! We booked a plunge pool suite - the room itself was great- having the bathroom outside was a little mosquito prone so draw the nets immediately for that comfort. Breakfast was perfect - I loved the choices and the quality. Bed was wonderful and comfortable- good towels and nice amenities. The place is right on the beach - with a beautiful night time dining space on the sea- very romantic! Grab a moped to explore the island for sure - you can get around very easily that way! You can also get a shuttle from the pier for 150baht instead of the private shuttle that costs 1000baht. Would highly recommend 🙏
