Very beautiful view point in Rokko Mountain. Night view is better. One very good advice : check the weather before going there. I went there and it was so foggy I could not see more of than 100 meters. Not the best way i planned to take night pictures of Kobe :)

The Rokko-Shidare Observatory in Kobe, Japan is designed by architect Hiroshi Sambuichi. ¥300 admission. It is lit up in different colors base on season. Access can be a bit challenging in the winter (drive or take the bus b/c cable cars may not be available due to weather condition). At the same time, very few visitors so you can have the amazing scenery of Kobe from Mt. Rokko all to yourself :)

Rokko Shidare Observatory Deck was designed by , Hiroshi SANBUCHI. Up there you will have a superb view of the city scape as we a nice view of the entire Rokko Garden Terrace. Personally never been up there during night time but story had been told that during night time is when its most beautiful time. With the light on the observation deck become alive and lights also changes according to the for seasons. A 300 JPY entrance fee definitely worth it. In addition there's also car park for drivers shall you choose not to use the ropeway. Would say a must go (make sure you dress warm enough as at the end it's up top on the mountain)

A very nice piece of architecture. It was quite cold in winter as the building promote drifting of wind. Guess it will be very cool and comfortable in summer.

Interesting installation with interactive art exhibits and a curated view port that is just gorgeous and evocative. We arrived during sunset and the scenery is amazing.

(Trip was made back then on 9 Dec 2019, 2 years before the Covid-19 Pandemic hit) Visited Mt Rokko while staying at Arima Onsen 2 years ago during our Kansai vacation. There wasn’t really anything much apart from it being an artistically designed observatory. It probably would have looked better at night when it’s lit up. Don’t think it’s worth paying just to access the observatory though.

This observatory isn't all that great compared to some of the other observation points imo. It has a giant cage blocking quite a few points of the deck. You can get a shot with the hashtag letters if you want though.

Here is an observatory with an interesting style of architecture with the tree concept by Hiroshi SANBUCHI. The lighting of the observatory will change based on the season. At night you can enjoy the view of Kobe from here. It is too fantastic and suitable for having a sweet date here.
