Visited this place twice the bread and their sandwiches are really great and the entire set meal is quite filling. I would go here for the atmosphere but the food is not particularly amazing and they only really have sandwiches on their menu ...the desserts look quite good! Each meal comes with their signature cookies which i think is a cute touch. The chairs are quite small and not the most comfortable so again go here for that atmosphere food is alright if you like sandwiches. Also i get it's Japan but something about eating a western style lunch with chopsticks inside a church felt funny haha..

I thought it's a bakery as the shop market itself. But actually it's just a cafe-resturant with menu of sandwiches and salads. A bit pricy to be honest comparing to what they are serving. Good quality and good setting though

Decent place for lunch. Interesting space in a former church. Prices could be lower. Nothing overwhelmingly special here.

Formerly Kobe Union Church, now the sanctuary is a bright and cheerful cafe serving light meals and sandwiches. By Japanese standards, nice causal dining in an exotic setting. Mostly younger women and matrons out for lunch or afternoon tea. Quality food presented informally. Downstairs is a bakery producing bread, cakes, cookies and other pastries.

Located in a repurposed Neo-Gothic style church, Freundilieb Ikuta is known for its breads. It's about a 15 minute walk from Sannomiya station and is on the way to the Kitano area, making it a good place to get some sandwiches for lunch if you're on the way up. It's quite well known amongst Japanese so there can be quite a wait with people lining up along the staircase up to the main eating area. If you're in a rush, you can just go into the takeout area. They will ship it to your hotel as well, even if you'll be in another city in the country.

Great German sweets in an old church, but don't come for anything but them as the other foods are overpriced for what they are.

The soup sandwich set was nice that the bread is so crispy. Soup was so tasty! Salad portion was big and fresh! Coffee was ok. Cake set was a good deal. We went at weekends at 10:30, already lots of people, needa wait but not long.

A friend recommended this place since we were coming to kobay. We went at 11 in the morning on a Sunday, which was probably not the best plan. The waiting time for the cafe was between 60 and 90 minutes so we opted to pick up pastries and bread in the shop and to go get coffee elsewhere. That said, the bread and pastries were amazing, the place was busy both in the cafe and in the shop, and there was a small area of imported and Gourmet food as well.

This place use to be a church but got bought off and turned into a German Restaurant/Bakery. Absolutely fantastic food in my opinion. I went here for lunch, and they offered a large selection of sandwiches. Being a bakery, all the bread and sweets are made fresh. The price is a bit steep compared to local Japanese food. It's about 1200 yen or so for a lunch set, and can easily go up to 2000 and more. However that's is significantly less than the popular Kobe beef. I recommend it, whether you live in Kobe or dropping by, for a simple and delicious lunch.

👍👍 When in Rome do as the Romans do. When in Kobe, eat as much beef as humanly possible. I already absolutely love beef dons, so this one just felt like that but even more boujee. I loved the style of this restaurant. It was small, intimate, and predominantly counter seating. The vending machine out f...
