The food, the service, the atmosphere is the best in all of Arima. Not suitable nor marketed to families with small kids so has a beautifully relaxed feel. The eight course in-room kaiseki meal had the attention to detail and visual splendeur fit for royalty. The massage chairs feel human. The only reason for not the full mark is whilst they upgraded the room at no extra charge (wonderful spacious room with scintillating views and in-room massage chair - no complaints there) I could hear the sound of trickling water all night from the floor above and found it hard to get to sleep.

As of October 2022, this Ryokan does not accommodate English-speaking guests. I called several times, staff would just hang up the phone. Trying to book a reservation for a 2-night stay but met with cold hostility. Maybe things have changed since the pandemic but they need time to get used to non-Japanese guests. For visitors from outside of Japan, I suggest calling around other Ryokans in the area to make sure the staff treats non-Japanese guests with kindness.

I've never given a 5 star. This $500/night hotel is not cheap, but is the best hot spring hotel I've been to, so far. I hope I can visit a better one in the near future.

A very unique place with a contemporary blend between traditional Japanese and modern accommodation. Surely not to be missed even if you have to travel to. Our best thanks to all the staff for their very very kind hospitality. The outdoor baths are just to dream about. .... Loved it immensely. Highly recommended from a very well traveled couple as we are. If you love your partner this is the place where to be.

Exceeded expectations. Oldest onsen in Japan is modernized, great facilities, delicious food, lots of amenities. Rented a room for four hours, generous, delicious obento lunch, use of onsen. Wonderful old-style service, ladies in kimono. Great atmosphere

Conveniently located in the heart of Arima, the room we got had in-room onsen. Complimentary beverages in the fridge and locally made snacks. They went out of their way to create a pescatarian Kaiseki meal for my wife which we greatly appreciate. Definitely not cheap but well worth the value. Will definitely go back!!!

I loved the style of this restaurant. It was small, intimate, and predominantly counter seating. The vending machine out f...

Beer hall
👍 It is a long-established Sapporo beer hall in Kobe. It collapsed during the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, but is now operating in a new building. The fried chicken is very delicious and famous. It's the perfect place to have a beer and talk with your friends.
