Most of the staff don not understand English. My room was in the 9th floor and the night club was on the 11th. I could not sleep because of the noise and loud music. My complains were ignored and the music became louder. I got headache and could not sleep. I will never come back to this hotel and will never recommend it to anyone.

Fake five-star hotel,Lousy trap:Our Izmir vacation was very nice, since its beautiful beach, friendly people are still always on our mind, but the two nights experience in this hotel was very unpleasant. That was a sunny day afternoon on 25th September 2022,when we arrived the hotel, just like every check in at other hotels,we asked the best price for a two beds room, and the hotel front desk clerk ( a handsome young man) told us the intraday price is 111USD,but the next day will be 136 USD,after a few minutes bargaining,he agreed to give us the room 106 at 222 USD(cash) for two nights, and told us that price was without laundry service, and didn't mention anything else even didn't print a receipt for us. In view of the trust in the commercial reputation of five-star hotels,we didn't think much of it at that time. But the funny thing happened when we entered their restaurant for breakfast next morning, because the restaurant manager told us our room was registered without breakfast service. After a very uncomfortable communication with a girl in reception desk,we were told she cannot get contact with the man who made the check in for us,and if we want to have breakfast here, extra charges should be paid. Since our trip was tight scheduled in morning at that time,we have not choice but payed extra 55 USD in cash as she asked but without receipt again, still trying to find the man who made the check in for us to find out what happened, because every hotel in Turkey we stayed overnight, their room rate includes breakfast no matter how much discount we got.Two days passed, the man who received us had never appeared, and we left there without any receipt by a hastily arrangement, even lost the chance to complain all of this to their manager. As ordinary tourists,we’d like to see the good hotel every where, so we hope the manager even the boss of this hotel can see our complain and improve their management, if this was only the mistake made by those clerks, they should screw up the hotel discipline; if this is the hotel policy and the way of making more money after discount, we have nothing to say but a piece of sincere advice: Opportunism never lasts long !!!

We booked a room for three people. The hotel added one bed because they said they did not have three bed rooms (even though they charged us for one). The bed they added was a folded mattress that had painful springs and a 20cm separation between the tow halves that made it IMPOSSIBLE to sleep on it. When we complained we got no answer from the staff, who were otherwise polite. Completely unacceptable for a hotel that claims being 5 stars. Additionaly the pool and jacuzzi were being repaired and not available for use (we weren’t informed).

Enjoyed our stay once we were given a different room. Issues sorted speedily. Lovely big comfortable bed. Duvet could do with overhanging bed. Need to be a bit more generous with coffee/tea supplied instead of having to ask then having to wait for it to be brought up. Food delicious. We have had to eat in hotel (room service) due to having surgery and it really is delicious and remarkably inexpensive. Great location. I will edit further if we manage to make it up to the pool/gym on the upper floors.

The best stuff member in that hotel are the ones of Vale / Janitor however ,i ve been in best hotels all over the world but None of them charged me for Water when I’m requesting it which was the case in here for only 2 small bottles are mandatory an extra. The interior design is an old fashion and need more deep cleaning

It was not movenpick that you are experiencing in Dubai or even Ankara, there wasn't any bellboy for luggage. The movenpick special ice-cream is not available there!!!!! The rooms are good and its acceptable, there was nothing in minibar and refrigerator. The breakfast was good also, it wasn't super. The location is perfect.

Terrible hotel. Very old and run down. Everything in the room is broken and old. Says 5 star but it's more like a 2 star. Complained to the reception and they could not of cared less. The manager did not care. Complete rip off do not stay here.

In a lovely place lots of restaurants and lovely view. Rooms are very clean, however bed sheets such as quilt hardly fitted the bed. Sauna steam gymn very good and have a swimming pool. Came here for a week as I was having my teeth done so my dentist selected this hotel. I am English but disappointed as they say on website English speakers. However when I asked for information I found there English not good and they could not understand me. Security is very good. Food in hotel not that good does not cater for clients like me having surgery on teeth etc I asked for mash potatoes and something soft to eat, they couldn't recommend anything.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights and had a pleasant experience. From check-in to check-out all staff was always friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, even if in some spots the carpet could use some replacement. It was always quiet for a good rest and sleep during day and night. We have also been to the rooftop bar, which is a little expensive but has a nice view. The gym room is actually quite well equiped, also with a good view, as it is on the top floor as well. The location of the hotel is nice, you can explore the nearby city center by foot and reach most of the city easily by public transportation including ferries. If you get a good price here, the hotel is definitely recommendable.

This is in no way, shape, or form a 5 star hotel. The lobby was beautiful. The staff is warm and welcoming. That is where it ends. The carpet in our room had a giant stain. The thermostat was impossible to figure out. The location is great though. Very close to lots of attractions and restaurants. About a 25 mins drive from the Airport with no traffic. Very much a big let down as we were looking forward to a 5 star hotel.

This hotel is located in a great place, but when we arrived we were informed there was NO AIR-CONDITIONING. We had to open our windows to cool off & and endure the street noise each night. Also, the hot water wasn't too hot, as it was lukewarm. This is why I gave it a 3 Star. But, AFTER April 20th, they said air conditioning was available, & I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hotel, after that date. It had a wonderful breakfast buffet. Complimentary water bottles each day. Spacious rooms. Great staff.

Certainly not 5 star! In the reservation process they don't say that breakfast is not included , in order to make you pay on site. That's scam! And 12€ for breakfast is too much for Turkey standards. You can have breakfast in the city for less than 10€. I could hear my neighbour having shower, sneezing, talking to the phone. The reception desk was not fluent in English and I couldn'take sense, but I guess that was only a unique case since I talked to them only in my check time and it was the same person.

An overpriced hotel for what they offer and the deteriorating condition. Room in terrible condition not so clean. Everything is old and broken. The sink in the bathroom was broken and filthy, the bed matrices were well used and no longer comfortable. The air condition was so old and loud that was impossible to use while sleeping. The TV was very small and really old, no internet connectivity. They charged 140 euros per night. For that kind of money you can stay at way better and newer hotels in the very same area. Do NOT waste your money on them, does not worth it.

The location is nice, the room was rather comfortable and clean, the personnel was kind and the food/breakfast was satisfactory. Issue was that my room had a smell of cigarette smoke while it was intended for non-smokers. I left the windows open for 8hrs and the problem was more or less solved.

Spent quite a few days here. My room was facing the sea, and I had an excellent view! (Other rooms in my group were facing the back street with the taxis, which were a bit noisy as life and traffic is quite busy.) My room was well equipped and clean. The laundry service was superb. They also have a wide selection of breakfast with vegetables, fruits, hot meals, pastry, etc. The only negative thing is the scrambled eggs, which I found inedible. I had dinner here a few times also, which was OK (you could find the same quality of food cheaper in town). The staff is kind, but I think some were still learning. Maybe this was why they forgot the master keys a few times in the rooms of our group, which obviously could have been misused if they fell in the wrong hands. All in all, not at a 5* level, but I still recommend it.

They charged 250 EUR (approximately 7000 TL) for one night, even though I booked a small room with two single beds. The website listed a different price – around 5000 TL.

Centrally located this hotel is a good choice when visiting İzmir. If you can deal with the fact that you don't have a buffet choice at dinner and the poor internet connection, you won't be dissatisfied by staying there

This hotel is badly maintained, there's this smell every where in the hotel. hotel rooms are old, the lights are dimmed the so called seaview is blocked by a building in front of it, you get a tiny view of the sea. The hair dryer in the bathroom is so old, it overheats every time i try to blow dry my hair, took forever to dry my hair... The movenpick's signature chocolate hour is not very pleasant with little choices. Overall doesn't feel welcomed. Not sure how they can advertise themselves as 5 star.

A 3 star hotel in dire need of refurbishment. Old blinds on the windows; ancient airco; stained carpets; lifts worked without the keycard; and the hotel gave me a twin when I booked a double. Everything old, tired and dated. Seriously overpriced.

I am trying to urgently get hold of my father who is staying with the hotel (family emergency / bereavement). The receptionist refused to connect me because I don’t know the room number, which is fair enough if it’s their policy. But the receptionist also refused to allow me to leave a message for him and refused to let him know that I am trying to contact him. Very poor service for a 5* hotel.

Sorry but we booked hotel because we read reviews about their indoor pool, we only find out wen we got to 11th floor that pool is being refurbished and not available. Total disappointment it would be better if there was notice on website notifying about this, we would have booked somewhere else. On the other hand rooms really big and clean, also I am pregnant and it's first time I had good night sleep due to really good quality bed mattress. Stayed in other hotels and due to poor quality mattress I would wake up in pain this is first time I woke up refreshed and with no pain.

Very high price. They dont have even park place. They have bad valet services. They have bring my car to park areas that belongs to state municipality. They couldn't bring car in the right time. There was not towel for head in the room. There was nobody to show our room and also to help carrying the items. Room was clear. Breakfast was ok.

The location is great: best place in city centre as you can walk in the Cumhuriyet Blv. with beautiful alleys and so many shopping stores, a few steps to the sea side and Pasaport iskele in which you can have a trip with ferryboat and a small walk to Kordonboyu which has one of the best sea sides is Izmir. Kemeralti bazar is also just 15 minutes by walk. Access to the public transportation is also good. Besides about 1 minute walk reaching to Pasaport, you have a 10 minutes walk to Gazi Blv. tram station. Also there are a vast variety of cafe, bars and restaurants all around the hotel. Hotel has a great bar which name is Mistral located in 11th floor with a great view of Izmir and Aegean sea. Also there is a gym and swimming pool with sauna next to the bar. The room was nice, well cleaned and organized every day, comfortable bed and good bath including bathtube. The only downside of our reservation was its empty mini bar (just two bottles of water) but the staffs were so helpful. The breakfast buffet had so many items but lacking some new items and almost the same evey morning but the quality was good and they serve you right at your table at your order. The whole experience make me like to have the next trip in this hotel.

Staff are good and location is very close to the see, we stayed in two standard rooms in the second floor for 4 nights during eid holiday in July 2021, we liked the beds so much cause they were really comfortable, the hotel was over all fine

Our room was supposedly an executive suite, it was dirty when we came into the room the carpet has stains on it. We found crumbs of chips on the floor by the bed. The room smelled bad when we came in. Every time we complained to the front desk receptionist about something he was extremely rude!! The location is perfect but too bad the hotel wasn’t what we expected!

I had a terrible experience with the front reception. The man named Ali was extremely unhelpful and unaccomodating. They made us pay extra for something that could have been overlooked. I had stayed at the Bospherous before and it was a much nicer experience. I would not reccomand this hotel to anyone.

Updated Review: We faced issues with the AC in our unit, but we are grateful to the hotel for going above and beyond in trying to rectify this issue by providing a fan to our room and for upgrading our room for the final night of our stay, on the house. The hotel’s location is the best in the city. The restaurant, Margaux, is also the best in the city. Except for the AC issues, we had an excellent time in Izmir. We appreciate the management’s effort, and we genuinely look forward to staying in Movenpick Izmir again.

I spent two nights at the hotel. I was there to attend a UNICEF conference as an interpreter, and my overall experience was very good 😊

Although the interior meanwhile looks a bit oldfashioned, the service is outstanding. Everyone is friendly and trying to help you. Rooms are clean and good standard. Very good location at Izmir. Would visit again and can recommend!

Worse experience ever. I arrived at 10. Asked the mini bar for food. I received the food after more than one hour. The food was disgusting. Cold and bad taste. I will never use this hotel

Very friendly staff and nice hotel! The breakfast buffet and dinner was amazing and so was the massage I booked. Everyone is so professional there and Ms. Ülker's smile and service (housekeeping) made my 7 nights there even more pleasant. Thank you for everything.

Front desk staff need more training for sense of urgency. First time stayed here and that will be the last time. Details about the issues have been relayed to the management but they never bother to call me or apologize.

So I've been here 4 days now and looking at my previous review and it was maybe a bit overharsh and I also thought I had said 3 stars and not 2! I still think the hotel should have some outside space somewhere - even a small rooftop terrace to get some fresh air - it might be more of an issue for me as I get claustrophobic without access to fresh air. I've used more of the services now and have a better opinion - so only fair to change the review. I've used room service for food now which was lovely and breakfast choice is very good. The hotel staff are great and super helpful, and as I said rooms are nice. Bar opening is patchy and unpredictable however there's plenty of places very close by so not a huge deal. And I realise I've not used the gym (looks well equipped), pool or spa so there's facilities here that I didn't consider originally - hence increased rating.

  • 5/5 Christina D. 1 year ago on Google
Hotel was lovely and so were most of the staff. I did find some of the waiters very rude when I requested something with in reason but when my friend asked it was no trouble for them I wonder why ??anyway did not spoil my time there the roof top pool and bar were a blessing and would also recommend the gym dispite me no going into the gym lol the sauna also lovely. In all yes I would still recommend this hotel as central to everything harbour views not far from food places and market.
