This place should not function as a hotel as it is. Simply, you cannot rest and sleep. The rooms surround a courtyard, which functions as a restaurant/cafe/bar and is open to public. It is always noisy and there was live music on two days we stayed there. You can hear everything multiplied in your room due to the acoustics of the place. We had to use noise cancelling headphones to get some sleep. If you are after quietness, like going to bed early or taking a nap during day, this hotel is not for you. The only good thing about the place was that the staff was friendly and attentive.

To be avoided Booked a medium-sized room, got a small one. The case was obvious but the receptionist did not even care to look at the reservation, kept inventing absurd excuses instead (e.g. I need to include shared spaces etc.) and even became aggressive. Apart from that: Very noisy, every afternoon/evening/night live music (mostly cover-versions of global pop-hits), difficult to sleep. Also, whole place smells, since smoking is allowed in the court. Food (both breakfast and from menu) is very mediocre. Surrounding Bazar-streets dead and dark early evening. Only real highlight here is the building itself and a some staff members are very friendly. Can definitely not recommend this, especially as a hotel. Note that many positive ratings are from external Café/concert guests.

An attractive and friendly hotel located within the heart of Kemeralti Market in the Konak district of Izmir. It is however very busy and noisy as the rooms face on to the courtyard which houses the restaurant with live music most day's. Stepping out of the hotel takes you into the centre of the market. Busy, chaotic and crowded are some descriptions that spring to mind. There is multi story parking 2 minutes walk away if you are brave enough to drive in Izmir.

This is a hacienda style hotel with a large courtyard where the restaurant and reception are situated and the rooms surround this area on the 1st floor. The reception staff are helpful as are the restaurant staff. I would have given 5 stars but our room was only serviced 1 day out of 5 despite leaving tag on door and speaking to the cleaner who just didn't bother to do her job. We had to buy toilet paper. The hotel is in a market area so a short walk from any road. The hotel will help with baggage if you get your transport provider to call them. The market starts at 630am and finishes by 9pm. Some noise but not too much of a problem. We did have loud construction work in the street until 1am one night but the hotel could do nothing about this. I would stay again very happily.

The staff is the best, very friendly and personal, the place is an old Han, well maintained, there is a live music daily. The breakfast is fine but can be improved. The hotel is in the Bazaar itself, so there is no direct access to it from the road, and unfortunately the closest entrance of the Bazaar is the fish market, so you have to deal with the smell as you walk to the hotel, if you use the other entrance it is like 800-1000 metres through the bazaar, at night it is kind of weird to walk in a closed bazaar and very little traffic. The atmosphere of the hotel is very nice and it not like your regular hotel. You can step from the main eating area right into a bustling bazaar. Special thanks to the manager and all the staff.

The staff need to learn much more about Hospitality skills. Best staff are Hachim and Gulseren at the restaurant. And the nicest staff you will find at the beach bar and cafe. I love it

Their design and location is perfect but their coffee is the worst. The first day we arrived there was better coffee the other day we arrived and ordered the same coffee it was so bad. We said that and they replied that their coffee machine changed today. They brought another coffee There was a dishwasher's taste in coffee. Actually we went that morning and we were planning to stay at their hotel but after seeing the behaviour we changed our plan. Also we read comments about their hotel it wasn't good.

Nice decorated room but unfortunately with very poor daylight since there were two small windows looking to a wall and also if you opened them it smelled like a dead fish. Poor and boring breakfast, at least very kind service. Bad location since all the area smelled badly and also you could not circulate at the neighbour after 22.00 when all the shops of the Turkish Bazaar are closed and the area becomes dark and seems isolated and dangerous. We hardly found a taxi to get us to the hotel once we got out of the hotel for a night drink, since two taxi drivers refused to drive there at night.

So, my review is two folded. The hotel room was really nice, spacious and the room service was really great. The hotel was exactly like the photos you see. However the negatives outweigh the above mentioned Every evening, you will have live music on, and the rooms are not sound proof. So if you are early sleeper, do not stay here. Secondly, what you dont see in the pics, is that this hotel is in a middle of bazar. One of the exit goes through the fish mongers' and it stinks. You will regret if you choose to walk throug that entrance, as you will lose all the appetite to eat, or often wonder why you decided to stay here. The second exit from hotel is not fish mongers, but to a very loud and noisy street. You will not be able to drive to this hotel and even the taxi drivers struggle to come and pick you up. This happend couple of times with us. So in summary, if you are looking to relax, do not stay here. But if you are looking for somewhere convenient, then this is a good place!

Stayed there overnight and had dinner at their restaurant. Their food was Michelin star rating. Every bite taken was extremely delicious and satisfying. As a well-travel individual, this wad one of the best meals tasted. The service overall was very attentive and friendly.

A great hotel located in the heart of Izmir. You really feel like you’re living in an ancient city. The room was spacious and clean, breakfast was delicious with lots of choice, and the staff were all friendly. I recommend eating at the restaurant located downstairs which has live music playing at 8-11pm. The pasta arrived quickly and was really tasty.

The location is very good. The central courtyard is a wonderful dining and entertainment space worth spending time in. We travelled as a family and had a single room. If you are looking for help from the staff if something is wrong in your room be expected to get a rude short feedback. We could not get our air conditioning to work. The room was cold. The night staff tried to fix it but was unsuccessful. Instead of responding to the customer, the day management blamed us and the night staff and was rude Both my kids and myself woke up cold and sick from the experience. An important part of travel is luggage, late check out and a luggage room. Don’t expect too much help in this department. If you can get a room that works and needs no desk support the room is lovely, clean and well kept.

I stayed 10 nights in December 2022 Location: In heart of a busy bazaar and adjacent to a fish market. Check-in: Smooth Room: Quiet at nights, comfortable bed, and clean sheets, however, no safe box and no window to natural light. Most rooms’ windows opens to hotel’s so-called open-air central restaurant which its ceiling is tightly covered and has limited ventilation while smoking is allowed. So if you open your room’s window, you may get bothered by the heavy smoking smell. Breakfast: Basic menu. Nothing hot, no toaster, no sausages or hot eggs and milk, and no juices on the tables. They bring you coffee or tea. You may ask for omelet if you know it in advance.. Check-out: Waited for about 15 minutes because of their own mistake in registration system. Afterward, they tried to charge me a fee for breakfast’s coffee, tea and omelet which I told them I should have been notified in advance for the charges. Eventually, they did not charge me for it. Issues: 1- Loose wall lamp over bedside table. They did not fix it and just said, “Don’t worry, it won’t fall!” 2- Horrible squeak of bathroom door’s hinge. Partially fixed after a few times of speaking with reception. 3- Toilet flusher malfunction. I had to hold it for half a minute. Not fixed. 4- Hot water shut off one night around 4 am. Found out when I could not sleep and went for a shower. The next morning, I asked reception for an explanation. They simply said, “You can take shower now.” 5- Not replied my email sent one week before arriving at the hotel

The entrance is through a smelly fish market, the room doesnt have a real window and it feels you sleep inside the restuarant. They promised to reply me in 2 weeks and never did. Terrible place- DON'T STAY THERE!!!

We didn't stay at the hotel but found refuge in the lovely cafe. Great atmosphere listening to the live music 🎶.

Pretty building with a nice café in a stylish central patio… BUT when visiting the café, one has to pay extra to use the bathroom (even after spending money in the pricy café) and in return one doesn’t even get a proper toilet - just some hole in the ground. Well, the building is still worth a visit

Didn't stay in the hotel but found this Courtyard while wondering the bizarre > fantastic retreat from all the hustle and bustle food and drink served in a quiet relaxed atmosphere.

Cosy and really nice place with an excellent location. Very friendly and helpful staff. But; doors are not soundproofed at all, and no windows to open outside the building - that was a huge suprise O_o Aside from that I would recommend it for a nice taste of local colours, with excellent foods and live music every weekend evening :) Breakfast quite bold, with at least 4 hot dishes and unlimited tea and coffe. Rooms cleaned daily were more than spot on - clean, comfy beds, equipped with your own fridge, tv, kettle and tea sets and bathroom cosmetics. So, yes I can recommend it and will come back next time visiting Izmir.

Stunning hotel in the centre of Izmir, great location, very high standard rooms, clean, and all around the edges with a restaurant and music in the centre, ask for a quiet room if you need, really helpful staff and adorable to me, breakfast first class, walk out of hotel and you're in the Agora central bazaar it's brilliant, everything on your doorstep, lived this visit, will be back when visiting Izmir, highly recommend.

Lively old town feel with live music in the courtyard restaurant. Friendly staff. Beautiful, clean, and comfortable rooms, as seen in photos. Direct access to the bazaar. Short walking distance to Izmir clock tower and pier with many restaurants. Reasonable drive to Ephesus.

We visit this place with my girlfriend for breakfast. We ordered serpme breakfast for two and absolutely love it. All ingredients are fresh and organic. The taste of every single food served for breakfast was so delicious we completely dried out every single bit. The ambiance is amazing, looks similar with hasanpasa han in Diyarbakir. You feel history all around the place. The owner and workers were very friendly. We will definitely visit the place again and hundred percent recommend.

A very good boutique hotel. Comfortable bedding and air condition. Great reception and service at breakfast. Location is close to city and near the market. If you don’t mind music at the restaurant until 2300 afternoons and some market noise in the midday if you’re up for a siesta go for it. Would recommend the hotel and also stay again. It has very good vibes and ambience

If you want to feel the the soul of an old city with the today’s opportunities, this is the place. The personnel is kind, sincere and warm-hearted people. The decoration is beautiful, in the old town. Because it is in the bazaar/old town, very narrow roads for cars, some taxi drivers cannot find the place- but it is accessible!

I recently stayed at this hotel, and I must say it was an excellent experience. The service was top-notch, and the staff was incredibly helpful. The ambiance of the hotel was truly impressive, creating a genius atmosphere. It’s a great place for both adults and kids, and the food was also quite enjoyable. I highly recommend it!

Such a gem that feels like a hidden oasis. Amazing warm welcoming people. Great facilities and fabulous rooms. The live music and courtyard restaurant are unique. Instant access to the bazaar in the daytime.

So great people working here! Especially the nice young lady taking care at everyone at the breakfast! Thanks so much! And a great french speaking service chef (my personal wine expert!). Plus all the other employees! Felt almost at home! A real hidden perl in izmir, deserves being much more popular especially with the super live music! My new favorite place to be in İzmir! See you again!

Very authentic place. I quite liked the hotel restaurant & loby area. But the service can be improved. At the hotel cafe my son asked for a traditional apple tea (oralet) and the waiter answered "We don't have it, this is a hotel". As a hotelier I do not welcome this answer.

Beautiful place. We visited the cafe area only. Service was excellent, customer profile was good if you are like us who doesn't want to see weird people around. It is also quite secluded. Highly Recommended.

This small hotel is every bit as beautiful and authentic as advertised. The staff are great and very helpful. The location is right in the centre of the old town with just few steps away from the main bazar and 15 minutes from the sea shore.

Historical building, very clean, beautiful and large room, wonderful Turkish breakfast, very good food at the restaurant, perfect quality/price ratio, very attentive staff, speak English and Spanish. I take one star out of my valuation because of the location in the middle of a huge bazaar. In any case, I would come back.

This hotel is a beautiful setting and situated in an exciting area of Izmir. The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Even the food in the restaurant is good, and reasonably priced! Would recommend the sigara böreği (fried cheese pastry), they go great with a beer!

Nice cafe and hotel set in the middle of the old town bazaar. A little tricky to find. We had some really good San Sebastian cheesecake with some homemade lemonade which was really refreshing.

possibly one of the rudest reception staff we have ever encountered, cleaning was not to satisfaction either. Location is very good and so is the building, food is average. this is the only decent enough hotel in Kemeralti district, probably enjoying healthy occupation rates and thus they think they can afford to sideline manners.

  • 5/5 Steve 1 year ago on Google
Excellent hotel and location right in the middle of the market close to everything. A courtyard setting overlooking a great restaurant with entertainment every evening. The staff cannot do enough for you from organising excursions to recommendations for places to visit. Don't be put off by the fish market entrance. Highly recommended this place

Historic Hotel. Great Customer Service. Finally English speaking people here at LAGORA OLD TOWN. 😀😀 Food at the restaurant is really good. However, breakfast is bad. Other than breakfast everything else is really good. Minus breakfast, would recommend the hotel.

Loved this hotel. Well located, just off the main bazaar in Izmir (Kemeralti) we often picked up sweets and fruits from the bazaar on our way back to the hotel in the evenings. Rooms are gorgeous, just as they look in the pictures. Well air conditioned, beds are very comfortable. A cleaner comes in everyday and makes the beds, provides fresh towels. There is soap, shampoo, body lotion and conditioner provided in the bathrooms and refreshed as needed as well as water bottles (refreshed every day) and chocolate/tea/coffee. They even laid out my pajamas nicely on the bed. The rooms overlook a pretty courtyard which is a very popular restaurant/bar with locals and tourists alike. There is live music every night, dinner goes late into the night but it's a lovely atmosphere. (Staff are v friendly, couples slow dancing to the live music) I personally loved it. There are tables and chairs outside the hotel rooms and I love to sit at them in the evenings and observe the crowd below or read my book. However if you don't want to be in a noisy area and are traveling with young children, then this probably isn't the place for you. Even though I have noticed that the hotel provides high chairs and bassinets for babies. 4 min walk to metro station and 10 min walk to railway station as well. Within walking distance of the pier/harbour as well. The receptionist was witty and helpful. Breakfast is typical of a Turkish hotel, an assortment of foods such as cereals, fruits, vegetables, cheeses, eggs etc with the staff offering delicious tea or coffee from the bar. We chose to have our breakfast in the courtyard every morning. Overall, very happy with my stay at this hotel.

Its very hard to find the hotel if you have a car, its literally not reachable with a car. But, the hotels itself is beautiful. They have a really nice middle area and makes the hotel a unique experience, really helpful staff.
