Tagore lodge is a small two storey building located near the Mohini mills of Kushtia district. It is a duplex house where each floor contains around 3-4 rooms. The famous poet Rabindranath established this lodge to conduct the business around this area...The area is quiet and peaceful...Had a good time with family...

Rabindranath Tagore came to Kushtia in the end of the nineteenth century. He was the landlord of this region and also businessmen. During British period, Hindu families tend to set up family businesses among the partnership of family members. Tagore patronized his family business and established a private company named  “Tagore and Company”. Millpara was the industrial and commercial area at that period. You can find many mill factories in this region but those are abandoned. So Rabindra set up this duplex building as the office of his business named as Tagore Lodge. This building was elongated to the east-west. The main gateway is in the north. Iron made spiral staircase is in the west. At the beginning the business growth was significant. But later he failed to make revenue and gave up. Now this building has renovated and newly painted by both the governments of Bangladesh and India. A metal made statue of Ravindranath Tagore has been placed there. But the building opens occasionally, when people comes here with reference or guest from government official invitation can visit this lodge. Note: You don't need any ticket. It’s really a nice experience to visit this historical place where the legend Rabindranath Tagore used to walk around and execute his Jamindar official activities. The house, doors, windows and stairs still in the old format of design. If you are a Tagore fan it’s a must visit place.

The place was closed. So I didn't get to see what was inside. It is recommended to make sure the place is open before you go there.

Robindronath tagore started Tagore and cong and used to live here with his nieces. He has written many poems during his time here. This building could be a potential heritage house if authority allows people to come here. But, the door is locked most of the time.

Rabindranath Tagore's former residence is located near the train station. When I went there at noon on Monday, I found it was closed and there was no way to go in for a visit, so I took some photos outside. After the East India Company took over Bengal, a Hindu gentry class emerged that served the British. They replaced the old Mughal aristocracy at the top of Bengal's social ladder. Among them was the Tagore family, which made a fortune from the indigo business. They participated in trade activities that brought new cash crops to Calcutta, while continuing to provide loans to the East India Company, often with interest rates as high as 12%. It was this class that provided loans that helped the Company maintain its colonial armies, purchase guns, horses, elephants, cattle, and pay military salaries so that the Company armies could wage war on other Indian states and defeat them. The East India Company's ever-expanding Indian empire would not have been possible without the political and economic support of local powerful men and communities.

Another Lodge of Thakur Family. A two storied building currently used for local cultural programs. However, Visitors are allowed. The iron made steel stair there is from Rabindra era & loved the veranda in 1st floor. Nothing else seems notable.

In Milpara of Kushtia city, there is a red colored two-storied 'Tegar Lodge' or Tagore Lodge, the memorial of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore. In 1895, Kabiguru Tagore & Company came to Kushtia for business work and built the current Tagore Lodge building. A bust of Kabiguru is placed at the entrance of Tegar Lodge, which is built on nine kathas of land. There is a large hall on the ground floor and one of the three rooms on the upper floor contains copies of Kabiguru's books and 12 paintings by Kabiguru.

Said to be a museum but there's no old heritage stuffs. Only the lodge is standing with old days' remarks. Nothing special here to find the reminiscence but the lodge becomes special in a moonlit night with Rabindra Sangeet.

Kushtia Kuthibari is a historical place in Kushtia. It is also known as Tagore lodge. A great place to travel with family. Here you can see various traditional things. There is a ghat with a pond besides to the house. The view of the sunset sitting there in the afternoon is very captivating. N.B: Do not use cameras inside the lodge. It is prohibited.
